Per the UCLA board, Rees is a finalist. Troy Taylor is another finalist. Idk if Stanford football can survive that

This narrative continues to allude me.

We must have very different definitions of what failing is.

With that said, I would not hire him to be a HC.

100% agree.

Tommy brought an offense with Drew frigging Pyne to a respectable season and stat line

He was a major part of how Ian Book was drafted in the 3rd by gum round.

Then... THEN! He took over an Alabama offense so questionable at QB that Tyler Robinette Buchner started a game and Bama was a serviceable center away from winning another Natty.

Tommy is good to great at what he does. But I can't see him being great as a head coach.

That’s a bummer. It’s crazy how Harbaugh is going nearly 100% after college coaches to build out his staff.

A bummer, would have been happy to keep him, but not a loss I'm worried about.

He’s a great coach and had the talent coming in. We better get this hire right. Never knew he was that close to Minter.

Yea, even though it seemed to be trending this way, this feels like a big loss. Hope it doesn’t stall our momentum when it comes to safety recruiting in the 25 class. I know he’s particularly close with Ivan Taylor, that would sting.

Perry Eliano is out of a job and crossed paths with Freeman at Cincy. I’d be disappointed by that.

Colin Hitschler and Freeman also crossed paths. He was just promoted to co-DC at Alabama so that is definitely out.

Mickens and Bullough promotions certainly seem the best route at this point

That's fucking classic. So much for the "just give him a raise" crowd.

The jobs and mobility are going to take priority over money and any kind of sentimental feeling. These guys are not fans. It's their profession.

Perry Eliano would be another Bearcat Buddy System hire. I'm almost expecting now.

While this is definitely true, I think the point the "just give him a raise" crowd makes is that money shouldn't ever be the reason someone leaves ND. Which is, IMO, reasonable!

I don't think that's the point ND fans are trying to make. You don't throw money at assistant coaches to delay their inevitable departure. In certain situations, you have to pay up for guys, and I believe we've now seen that in the retaining of Tommy Rees (for one whole season) along with the hiring of Mike Denbrock and the likely extension of Al Golden.

Chris O'Leary wanted to coach in the NFL and there wasn't an amount of money that would keep him from turning down that opportunity. As ND fans our dreams center around the program we've grown to love for so long. For the coaches who are employed there, it's mostly just a job to them.

Very good coach. I hate losing good coaches. Though, I like Bullough and think he’ll do well.

The only thing a GA can’t do is recruit? Otherwise they are like any coach right?

Recent articles suggest Bullough is who extended the offer to several current recruits. I thought the same as you and was surprised because he was a GA.
