2) He won't have the most talent in the league.

3) Trevor Lawrence is gifted, but none of us know how he will translate to the league.

4) I guess the cyst on his brain is OK???

5) Pete Carroll is the only coach who went from college to pro successfully, and he had plenty of NFL experience prior to that.

In today's NFL, you need flexible salary cap and as much talent as possible on rookie contracts, especially the skill positions on offense. This, and an elite QB.

As it stands, Jacksonville has the #1 Pick for TL, who is thought to be one of the most polished QB's to come from the college ranks ever. No guarantees, but this is the best you can hope for if you are taking on a new team. Including the #1 overall pick, they will have 4 of the top 45 draft picks, barring any trades. They are projected to have the most cap space of any team heading into FA, which is extra helpful where cap space is projected to be tight overall given the circumstances of Covid.

Finally, you look at the division. Houston is going to have a hard time hanging on to Watson. Colts have a QB unknown heading into next year and the Titans are going to have some interesting salary cap decisions to make. Aside from the NFC East, I don't think there is division that is more friendly than the AFC south at the moment.

In the end, we know the shelf life for Urbs in any job is 5 years. So he will get to enjoy all these advantages, while most likely never having to live the downside.

BTW, I am not saying book Jacksonville to the 2023 Super Bowl either. but if there was ever a spot for him to be successful in the NFL, this is it.

Watching Urban as an analyst the past couple of years I think he’s going to be fine. You need a leader and CEO type and he is certainly prepared. If he puts the right staff around him I think he’s going to do well.
