maybe im the only one that isnt surprised.

Pruitt has been at Bama, FSU, and Georgia for almost his entire coaching career. You think he came up with that trick on his own?

Somebody finally got Pete K away from UW.

That's a great get for Sark. Pete K is a great coach. Great at identifying talent and developing it which is something Texas has been piss poor at for awhile now. Also, should allow him to be pretty hands off with the defense.

Finally! The Huskies are no longer my back up team! Glad Pete K got the paycheck and glad he got out of Montlake where the honeymoon was over. Now we'll get to see what a genius Jimmy Lake really is. Better re-energize his recruiting game cuz Mr. X & O's is gone so now he needs the Jimmy & Joe's.

Was afraid Pete K was going to end up at Zona with whoever got the job in an attempt to get out of Washington but thankfully Fisch got the job and had ties to an available Don Brown. Pete has a house here and will retire here. He would've been Boise's HC had he wanted the job. He's the Westtcoast's Venables or Bud Foster when it comes to being a HC. Not his thing.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Oddly enough, I'm probably moving to Austin (or Nashville) for work so I might get to follow this up close.

Lastly, if Freeman goes to LSU, Pete K would've been a nice consolation prize.

LSU was going to hire Saints DL coach but sounds like Saints blocked it and then re-upped him with a promotion title. Ed O has to be about to blow a gasket with this DC search

I mean, even if the Sark hire was somewhat questionable, it really seems like he's putting together a dynamo staff.

They need to dig in with the HS coaches in Texas. If there is some kind of association or something, get in touch and stay in touch.

Bielema contacted the head of the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association immediately. It was a smart move, and let's keep in mind, Illinois is not Texas when it comes to HS football.

The biggest component for Sark's success is getting in with these coaches and getting that UT brand back to being a brand again.

Honestly, I kinda respect it.

I almost wonder if ND should basically start a sting operation. Find kids who are silent commits, and encourage them to take visits to big schools and "document" their experiences.

On the other hand, might be good to leave well enough alone. Some high profile kids end up at Ole Miss, Auburn, andTennessee instead of LSU, UGA, and of course Alabama.

Love that Lea hired Rick Minter's son from the Ravens to be his DC.

Purdue getting Lambert from Marshall is a great DC hire for them. Major upgrade from Holt and Diaco.

Fickell tapped Mike Tressel from Michigan State as his DC.

Three moves I really like. Also like that the Ravens defensive staff is getting picked apart, too.

LOL. How many x-HCs and coordinators will they have on staff this year

ND should be doing the same thing.

They are probably thinking Saban is near retirement.
ND should totally be doing the same thing. I like Rees but he is not a great recruiter and we should upgrade to a well known good recruiter.

They've been doing it (spending biggly on analysts and staff) for a good while now, so not sure Saban's years has anything to do with it. They are just committed to playing football.

What makes you think Reesus isn't a good recruiter? He was the primary on Buchner, and guys like Colzie and Styles had great things to say about him. Not arguing as I really don't know, but it doesn't jive well with what I've heard. Are the Loys of the world talking smack about Tommy?

No, not hearing anything.
Just my opinion. I am just not seeing it with Rees. It does not seem like he would be a great recruiter and we seem to be behind with everyone on O in 2022. I'll give him the Styles one but all the others I think would have been coming to ND regardless of who the OC is.
To be honest I would rather promote Lance Taylor to OC.

I like Lance, but I just looked at 247 to see who was primary on who. Looks like Reesus has a better track record than Taylor as far as being a successful primary. IIRC, Lance's only win was Estime. Tommy was primary on our last 4 QBs commits and others. We've whiffed on RBs IMO as much as any positions the last couple years. IDK. Chip was the primary on Tyree, although I wouldn't be surprised if Lance did as much work. Kyren was Denson.

I think there are a few good hires in that list. Personally though, I'd take Freeze if Fisher says no lol.

That program is such a mess, I think they are stuck in a situation where they were when they hired Pruitt. They may not have many options. Napier and the rest of that lot may not want to dive into what awaits them. Even long term, who knows what is coming for the Vol program further down the road than just the initial cleanup that would take 2-4 years?

That program is essentially on life support, and that isn't an exaggeration when you look at their depth chart. On top of that, they could potentially have players ask to get out of their LOI, which I think is the right thing to do at this point if any of them want out.

They need A) a right hire, doesn’t even need to be a “home run” just needs to be someone who can stabilize and B) give the person a proper contract, if that means extended length or contingencies, something that attracts someone and gives them a shot even. Mel Tucker’s contract for example.

Some notable things Mel’s agent got out of MSU:

https://footballscoop.com/news/details-of-mel-tuckers-contract-are-out/

- If Michigan State is sanctioned by the NCAA for violations by the previous coaching staff — and Curtis Blackwell’s attorneys alleged Dantonio committed violations, though Dantonio denies them — Tucker’s contract will be extended by a year as of the date the sanctions take effect. If Michigan State is sanctioned for, say, three years, Tucker nets a 3-year extension.

- Tucker’s salary pool will be $6 million, $1.1 million more than what Michigan State provided Dantonio. In total, Michigan State will pay $11.5 million to employ Tucker and his 10 on-the-field assistants, an increase from the $9.2 million the school paid for the same 11 spots just over one week ago.
