Now here’s a guy I could get behind for OC. MSU was a horrible fit for him.

Dude. Moorhead would be a perfect fit and a tremendous mentor for Rees. Get him today.

If he's being fired for off-field issues how likely is it that we would hire him?

From what I understand it's not personal off-field issues, it's more that the team had off-field issues (i.e. he lost control of the team). That shouldn't really matter for a coordinator hire and it's really just a product of that job being a terrible fit for him.

There's like one tweet referencing off-field issues at this time, and even that sounds like a guy who didn't have a handle on his team as the HC. It's not like Lane Kiffin who is a known cheat/character where there's a culture issue. He's not being brought in to be a HC. He's being brought in to call the plays that he called at Penn State. I don't recall Penn State having tons of off-field issues during his time there.

Do you have any idea what P5s are currently looking for an OC?

EDIT: Miami is still shopping, I think.

Texas and PSU recently filled vacancies.

If that's the biggest vacancy I would think he would come here if asked. He's not a southern guy, and sticking to the Big 10 geography would be his wisest career move.

ISD mentioned "baggage" so it's not like it's only that one guy who mentioned issues. This might not be such a slam dunk as I had hoped

Also, how should he be evaluated as an offensive mind considering his Mississippi State offenses sucked and his success as PSU was with Barkley?

His resume is great work at Fordham, the two seasons at PSU and then the two seasons at Mississippi State.

EDIT: At Mississippi State his offensive SP+ was 32nd and then 70th. I think these things are extremely weak measuring sticks for coaching ability but even so, it does not generate confidence that he is THE guy.

Link? If its true then its true, but I've not heard anything damning to eliminate him as a fit. The biggest black mark on his character that I'm actually aware of is that he took an SEC job in Mississippi, which is usually the moral dregs of the industry.

Can he can do the same with Tyree?

Can Moorhead recruit? If so, I'll take him with Rees as co-OCs.

If you've got ISD then this is the thread https://irishsportsdaily.com/forums/1/topics/43971/next

Matt doesn't go into details. I'm sure BK will do his due diligence, but this isn't as slam dunk as I was hoping.

It would seem unlikely that Moorhead would be willing to be a Co Offensive Coordinator.

I might be talking out of my ass but I don't think anyone really cares about "co" versus solo. I think the only thing that people really care about is "Am I the guy calling plays?"

They care if the “co” tag results in a raise though which it usually does

I am with you but offhand comments from a couple of PSU flairs on reddit suggest the second question is a no.

If true, they should pass.

ND has too many hurdles to jump as it is with recruiting and they need all hands on deck to get the players they need to compete. Brilliant Xs and Os doesn't mean shit if you can't move people against their will, run fast and jump high.

It would seem unlikely that Moorhead would be willing to be a Co Offensive Coordinator.

You're probably right. He may agree to it if his options are limited - ND Co-OC is probably better than Miami OC.

I'll give him more credit than that. He did extremely well at a high academic school (Fordham), then drastically improved a static PSU offense and made Trace McSorley look like a world beater. Having Barkley didn't hurt either, and the offensive line was young and inexperienced.
