Yes!! To your last point about Rees. He's finally got out of his own way and just went with what's working the last two weeks. However I will say the last TD to mayer might've been the best play call he's had in his whole career.
That play to Mayer happens because OF the run game. It was the perfect call in the perfect situation.

I wonder if they'll consider moving Tyree to slot next year, especially if they have a healthy JD Price.
It should be considered. Although Mayer is going in the first round in the draft, the Irish will still have two very capable TEs coming back
after their injuries heal up and with Tyree in the slot, it would be havoc in the minds of DBs and Secondaries.

Best rushing game I've seen in a long time with dual backs. Estime and Diggs both with 100+ rushing against a D that averages allowing 88 ypg. If the Irish needed 3, 4 or 5 yards for a first down these young men behind THE best Oline in the country got it and more. Very proud of them and very glad Rees put down the playbook and told Pyne just to 'give the rock to the boyz'!

The (I think) 3rd and 13 Estime picked up in the 4Q was euphoric.

He didnt seem to early in the season, that has changed, and we all love it!
I think he was trying to maintain a sideline persona that is representative of the university and finally decided to be himself which is a competitor.

I don't want to be Debby downer but I think Tyree transfers
If he does, he does, and that'd be too bad. If he wants to be an every-down type traditional running back he should probably go somewhere he'll get more carries. But long run he's better off spending his last year in college a slot or swing pass guy in our offense - because that's what he'd be in the NFL - and hopefully he sees that.

He better go to a team that has a consistent spread offense where he can hit the outsides with his speed. He won't make it going up the middle like Estime and Diggs...

Interesting theory. You may be right, I just figured he was still mentally processing being the HC in those moments. Either way he's a completely different person on the sidelines.

Post game observation: Clemson and ND don't have much offense. Clemson made more mistakes (and a freshman corner did a little flex thing). If we had tried to go with the balanced run/pass plan we could (have been) in the same boat as Clemson.

From Dabo

We just got out-coached in every facet of the game. That's on me. It's my responsibility. And I wish I could say I saw it coming. We had a great week of practice."

I wish he started earlier. It might've made a difference in the Marshall and Stanford games if his players fed off his emotion.

For real.

Jayden Thomas has essentially become a TE/WR tweener. Runs routes like a WR, but blocks like a TE in the box. I love the new wrinkles with him on the wing like an extra TE. There was a big run to Diggs last night where he lined up on the right wing, but pulled around the left end and picked up a block at the first down marker.

I love our TE's, but I don't think any of them have the speed to get around the end and then out in front of the RB on a play like that.

Halfway through the third quarter, Clemson didn’t want to play anymore.

They didn’t want to tackle Estime.

They didn’t want to block the D line.

They didn’t want to fight through the receivers and tight ends blocks.

This game was Holtzian.

ND took Clemson’s spine and broke it in half longways like a freaking Kit Kat bar. Then just held it in their hands while it melted all over the field in front of Dabo’s eyes.
