If I had to rank the worst - FL, AL, TN, GA... take your pick after that... Really tired of the 'Chomp' and 'Roll Tide' BS down here....

Hell, at a funeral they say 'Roll Tide'...

I'm a military brat as well as being a traveler in sales.... two worse states to be in (I'm 52 - been in sales 30 years) Alabama and Mississippi...

TN is not as bad as all the others... Vols fans are more in jest... Alabama fans are just outright obnoxious... we had a fish-fry two months ago and a new guy showed up and EVERY statement and sentence ended in 'Roll Tide'

......... he was asked to leave and he did.
Luckily I’ve never really met any Bama fans. For all their success, I don’t they’ve really portrayed that “cool” factor that makes them trendy like Clemson or OSU have. There was a real obnoxious Florida fan at the bar I was at last night. Most Tennessee fans I meet are pretty chill, I think they are a bit more humble from their teams naturally being pretty average.

I've seen every SEC team in person, and been to a lot of the stadiums. Been to a ton of UGA and TN games. Worst fans by far are UGA and I think most SEC fans would agree. FL fans are bad too. Bama/LSU are very hit or miss, it's like they have two totally different fan bases within themselves. Some are very very cool, some are very very bad. Auburn and TAMU are annoying but not horrible. The MS teams were pretty meh. Vandy, KY, TN, and SC are very cool/nice. TN has been voted several times "nicest" lol. Met some very nice Vol chicks through the years.

Roll Tide, and Go Dawgs are like nails on a chalkboard to me. I have several friends, employees, etc. from both mobs. I hear it weekly/daily. Conversely, I can listen to Good Ole Rocky Top from a nice TN girl with a twang all day...

Best time ever though was in Knox tailgating with the RV crowds of both TN and UGA fans. Surprisingly everyone got along that night. Had the DJ rocking from the top of a bus. Worst time ever was at UGA. I was wearing ND gear, and was with a mix of friends wearing both UGA and TN gear. All very mild mannered guys and girls. Beer and soft drinks thrown on us multiple times, and some of the shit said to the girls was pretty bad. My buddy from UGA actually got into it with another UGA retard over it. I've also been to UGA and had fun too tailgating with Dawg fans in the courtyard.

I just think folks from the state of TN are chiller in general. The only place I've ever been with kinder folks is Aruba

Alabama is the worst and it’s not even close. I went to Huntsville this morning (from Chattanooga) to visit my sister and parents. Pulled over to use the restroom somewhere in Alabama and the sign on the outside of the men’s room was a reminder to not spit your tobacco in the urinal. Their fans are terrible.

Tennessee fans are amazingly optimistic. Every year they really believe they’re going to be good. Think this week finally cured most of them of that optimism regarding Pruitt. He seemed like a terrible hire from the start and it has been proven out.

Agree. Grew up in Florida and moved up here in ‘98. Great state, great people. Wonderful place to raise a family. Best decision of my life.

I've spent a lot of time in Nashville (and Franklin), Knox, and Chat. Was in Franklin every other week for a few years. I'll likely retire to SW FL or Belize due to my love of the ocean and weather, but if not, it would be TN. I love me some Dale Hollow and Memphis isn't bad either. Just never had a bad experience in TN.

I like Auburn solely for the fact they’re the only team in the conference that doesn’t chant “SEC” all the time. They always route against Bama with a passion, where the rest of the conference fans seem to be like “welp, my team is out. At least we still have Bama”.

This morning was pretty brutal. The game went so long that I ran out of beer by OT. Grabbed an open bottle of wine from the fridge and nervously chugged it until the end. First and last time I ever drink wine on game day.

I had way too much fun last night, had a few strong cocktails too late, dog woke me up way too early, and today was the most painful 18 holes of golf I've ever played. And it was 74 and sunny.

Booking tee times for yesterday and today because of the amazing weather in PA was a great idea...on paper.

I’ll say it again, less than two minutes left and 91 yards to go.

I have a good friend, and racquetball partner, from Auburn. He's classy as hell. He can be full tilt though when things are going good for them, and especially when it comes to Bama. I can understand why they wouldn't "welp" Bama since they are in-state and divisional rivals. UGA would never "welp" TN or FL lol. My least favorite x-employee of all time was from Bama. Total douche. Roll-Tide every single day when he left the office. Why can't more just be kind/cool like Bish and 3T :headbang:

I live in SEC country. Its arrogance. I hear dumb shit like that all the time.

It’s not just arrogance, I too live in the south. I believe a lot of it is also pure ignorance. When a guy gets in trouble at work for degrading another employee and states it’s his second amendment that allows him to say what he wants you kinda gotta start questioning things.

We’re ranked #2 in the AP and the Coaches poll.
Just shows how inconsistent the pollsters are for absolutely everything! We have the absolute best win to the now #4 team in the country and Alabama moves to #1 in a bye week?

We gotta put it on BC and crush the rest of our schedule!
It’s personal this year!

Agreed, let’s just hope we continue to improve across the board. No excuses this year.

I will be the first to admit that I’ve been pretty critical of BK, and Ian Book, and probably somewhere our gem in Tommy Rees. I proudly apologize to them for discounting their abilities. Simple frustration can form blind opinions. Just glad for whatever reason things are coming together for this team and a very hungry fan base. It’s about time!!!

Still not sure though of this feeling I woke with this morning? Could we finally be back? We all know how the morning after usually feels. I must research this, I shall speak with my Bama friends tomorrow.

If we're being (overly) critical about the performance, was anyone else getting upset at the sequence after Davis was tackled on the 4 yard line? We had the ball on the 4, with 2 timeouts left, around a minute of time, and one of the best OLs in the country. We threw it three times. If Book hadn't made that 3rd down pass to Davis for the TD, I get the feeling everyone would have wondered why the hell we didn't try to run it at least twice.

It worked, so clearly there's a reason why I'm just a guy on the internet and Rees is teabagging DC's making millions of dollars, but in the moment I was pretty steamed when I realized we were throwing it again on 3rd down.

Thought the same when watching live. Run it on 1st down at least. See if you can get a score or a couple yards. If you get a couple keep running. If stuffed or lose yards, you still have 3 chances to throw for it.

I rewatched the game (all 5+ hours minus commercials) today and loved every minute of it. One thing/guy that stood out on rewatch that I didn’t see mentioned here was Drew White. I feel like he had such a quiet start to the year, but apart from one bad missed tackle (JOK had at least two of these) there were at least 5 times that I was like “wow great play drew!”. He deserves some props along with Shayne Simon for elevating his game on Saturday.

Other things that others have already mentioned

1) Book brought it. Several HUGE money throws while scrambling around and no picks against a supposedly really really good defense.
2) Pass protection - wow. Book deserves more props here for moving around the pocket well, but the 5 big guys and Kyren bleeping Williams kept him clean ALL. DAY. Seriously, 4 quarters and 2 OTs and not one sack allowed against Clemson. That’s awesome.
3) Speaking of Kyren Williams, what a dude. Potential Heisman candidate?
4) Not sure why agonist doesn’t consistently get more love for his penetration. Dude does this every week. Glad he got some props on Saturday.
5) Pure catharsis. All of those past failures. All of those heartbreaks in the national spotlight. The monkey is off. No one can take that away from us. Not ever. How great is it to finally be able to watch/read college football news/analysis after a win like that? All day long if anyone wants to complain about Clemson not having Lawrence, poor officiating, or fans rushing the field, they can have a look at my middle finger while I say “f*ck you” because we won that game, baby.
6) Finally, ouch, the refs. But like I said above, LOL WHO CARES WE BEAT #1 BABY!!!

PS this is my first post in probably years but I couldn’t resist after such an epic, cathartic, euphoric win. Thanks to all you guys (and a few gals) who post regularly and keep this site a good place to get the pulse of ND Football!

Who was the last team to be a number 1 ranked team? I bet it rarely happens except maybe in the play offs.

It's unbelievable. And the best part is it happened!

That drive is all you need to know about the mental makeup of this team including the QB. It's championship level.

Still worried about what COVID testing might bring given the students couldn't contain themselves.

Were shots fired? I am confused.

For all of us who get impatient when a young running back doesn’t see the field right away. K. Williams showed what is needed in blitz pick up that a lot of first year guys don’t get right away. He was amazing in pass protect all game.

No shots fired, he clearly doesn’t know the difference in the amendments

LOL, I forgot the sarcasm font.

Speaking of Williams, he appears to me to have his own level of play in the game. Rare ability to initiate contact or avoid it when needed. You can't really coach that. It is a desired trait for running backs. Those that can pass protect and provide game breaking offense are hard to defend. He is a great player. I enjoy watching him play.

GOOD:

1. Someone, right now, is using that game film and basing an entire 'OL Cohesion and Effective Blitz Pickup' coaching clinic on it. Shoutout to the big hogs, but especially shoutout to Kyren for not just being able, but being WILLING to stick his nose in there and stone some fools. He's a treat to watch when works in cohesion with the OL, and it's a joy to see the OL pass off a rusher to Kyren with no hesitation and no issue.

2. RESPONDING TO ADVERSITY FOR THE WIN. I thought the game was over in Clemson's favor at several points, but especially when they picked up the PI flag when Dabo got to plead his case right in the ears of the refs as they huddled. Instead of hanging heads and letting Clemson lean on them to run out the clock, the defense did what a Clark Lea defense does, and then Ian Book and Avery Davis dropped their giant brass balls all over Dabo's forehead on the way to overtime. Thank god those dudes respond better than fans do lol.

3. Wanted to avoid calling out all the players individually that everyone already noted... but fuck that, shoutout to Kurt Hinish. The guy played his ass off and wrecked Clemson's inside run game all night. He was disrupting the timing, and the linebackers were taking advantage. Shoutout to Shayne Simon, too... that's a game where the light turns on for a BUCK right there.

THE NOT SO GOOD:

1. Tommy and BK abandoning the run game through basically the whole fourth quarter, and almost blowing the end-of-regulation, goal-to-go opportunity by electing the pass the ball three times from the 5-yard line instead of going downhill. Honestly, even with the redzone issues and miscues, the end of the game didn't need to be THAT stressful. I think if Tommy and BK get a little stubborn and have Kyren continuing to run downhill early in the fourth, Clemson's defense wears down sooner than they did in OT, and the ND D gets their wind back and makes an extra play or two, erasing the need for OT.

2. Redzone execution... They need to be stubborn in their insistence to attack downhill inside the 10, but they also need to clone that play-action pass that Clemson used to their TE, and come up with some other variations, as well. With how much other teams respect the run game, you HAVE to have some answers to make things easier on yourself at some point. You can't always rely on Ian to make a gorgeous throw into a tight window while falling away from pressure when you get yourself into 3rd-and-goal and decide to use a spread formation (but it's pretty fucking sweet when it works out and sends you to OT against the #1 team in the country, I must admit).

3. Honestly surprised Clemson kept trying to run on early downs instead of taking a couple more shots down field. ND was playing aggressive to try and speed DJ U up, and could have cost them a few times had Clemson used their play-action/RPO looks more often.
