I would keep fields and trade the pick. I'm not sure why some people think Williams is the calling of Christ but I honestly don't think he is going to be a good QB. You can trade the pick draft Harrison and then take another WR at 9. Probally get a high second and take the best Center available. Then you'll get a future first in 2025 and most likely 2026. The QB's aren't as deep in 2025 but I really like Quinn Ewers for Texas or Arch Manning will be in 2026.

This is where I’m at. I think Fields can be a good QB. He was set up for failure in Chicago, besides a trade for DJ Moore.

I think all of these rookie QBs will stink. Caleb Williams is mentally fragile and his dad is weird.

Very worried about taking CW. I see a bust coming due to his penchant to whine. I’d keep Fields and build this team at all the need positions. Fields keeps improving and could be a SB QB. If Bears trade him, he’ll go somewhere and be a pro bowler next year.

Bears are just not allowed to have a great QB on their team.
I watched a combine interview. No problem with anything he said, but he just sounds like a little bitch with a little rbf.

The PR is too big around Williams. If he succeeds somewhere else, the GM is out. Doubt the Bears have the balls to not take him if they wanted to.

No other NFL team wants Fields. At all.

Fields fanboys: We should build the franchise around him still. He could be a star...

You guys are strange. Very very strange. rotflol
The dislike of Caleb Williams for perceived, if not totally imagined, non football reasons is really the strangest.

"He's going to be a bust because he hugged his mom once and his dad says things." I mean, he did hug his mom and his dad has a touch of LaVar Ball if he's being quoted accurately, but so what?

Getsy got an OC job again, albeit with the Raiders, who are just fucking weird.

Darnell Mooney just got $39M from the Falcons.

I stood on the Justin Fields plank about as long as anyone. I jumped into the sea. He's not it, and it appears that more important and football intelligent people are agreeing to this point. The Bears are either stuck with him or they're not getting anything remotely valuable in return. MIke Tomlin said "Gimme Russ Wilson for a year". The Falcons want Kirk Cousins and his JC Penney wardrobe.

I'm at the Justin Fields acceptance stage at this point.

I can't scout WRs. For QBs it's 50/50 at best, but I think I'm getting better about the ones who'll struggle more. CBs and OL are my wheelhouse. And I'm okay being wrong about any of them. b/c figuring out where I was wrong will help be more right next time.

It's funny, we took a trip to watch the Hawks and Caps play. I told the Mrs that I was really impressed with the way #15 for the Caps Milano was skating. We looked him up and he stinks. He scored shortly after I said something b/c of course. She looks at me angrily, "You always do that with the other team especially if the guy stinks, shut up!".

And the Bulls should draft Bronny in the mid-to-late first round I assume?

I think the reason people look at "non football reasons" is because that often seems to dictate success/failure. He's not going to fail because of his physical tools, kid is super talented. I can however see him failing for a variety of reasons such as, not being a leader, not studying at the level needed in the NFL, not being able to handle adversity well (most of these guys have known nothing but success growing up), etc...

Personally, I think he'll struggle because he's a world class douche bag but I'm very biased. Once I saw him paint his nails with F*ck ND, I began wishing him nothing but failure.

We can all acknowledge that any given player can fail and for a variety of reasons, so I understand what you're saying. Plenty of guys who have the talent and measurables fall off for off the field reasons.

All of this is perception, however, until somehow proven otherwise. Nothing has indicated that he's not a leader or not respected by the guys in the locker room, that he doesn't prepare and do film, etc. or that he can't handle the adversity of the position (of which he faced plenty last year).

With that defense and OL last year, it's hard to think about what SC looks like without Caleb Williams. Other than gloriously worse than what they were, which would have been quite fun.

People hate him now... but the second CW has a Red River Rivalry type game then every Chicago meatball is going to be painting their nails with "F@#$ GB"
Right. You wouldn't believe the number of idiots that would relish going 2-15 if the two wins were against Green Bay. They went 13-3 and won the division but lost twice to Green Bay that season. You'd have thought the season was a failure.

If Caleb Williams quarterbacks a win against the Packers, the Ditka loving grabowskis will want a statue in Daley Plaza next to the Picasso.

Justin Fields or Caleb Williams. I think the bears have no win situation here. The non football reasons are valid reasons. He seems like a cancer in any locker room.

The winning situation is trading the #1, making sure they get Odunze and another weapon, and a second #1 for next year.
Encapsulate Fields with a plethora of weapons, and he's no less then a faster Brock Purdy.

I think the bears need to trade the pick, they got way more issues than QB. Keep fields trade the pick. I think adding Marvin Harrison would be a way bigger impact than drafting WIlliams.

Why are Bears fans so enthused about keeping a bottom third passer who is a bottom 5 fourth quarter QB?

Agree. If they can get another #1 for next year it will probably be a high pick. Can always grab a guy next year and have the extra picks to boot. Unless you think CW is the answer.

Not enthused about keeping him....just don't see others as the answer and you know washington would most likely give up a stupid haul to get a hometown boy

It's a lot of Caleb Williams hatred stemming from what would equate to stupid means girls shit. CW is being perceived as not football smart, locker room cancer, mom hugger, fingernail painter, etc. It really is limited to that and "he's going to be a bust because other guys have been busts" and "the Bears are stupid." There is also the recency bias of his 2022 season vs 2023 season and the optics. So there is some truth to what is being said, of course. Nothing about his football IQ and bad locker room vibes have really been confirmed. So it's very interesting to say the least.

This isn't limited to Bears fans who are also ND fans. It's a lot of Bear fans on social media, message boards and sports radio. Some of them are big Fields fans, others are not Fields fans. It really crosses over into multiple fan subgroups. People don't like the kid and seem to grasp at straws for reasons why, regardless of their feelings for Fields. Most can't offer the third alternative. They either don't like CW or don't like them both.

The Chicago media beat has been pro Fields more often than not, which has often been a byproduct of criticizing the previous and current front office along with the organization as a whole. A good portion of them have placed themselves in the Caleb Williams camp now too.

If CW was 5 foot 11 and had been pulled over doing 130 MPH with machine guns in his trunk, my first thought would be "Is Urban Meyer coaching USC?". My second thought would be "no thank you." Since none of that has happened to this point, I just find most of what is being said about him as being irrational. I'm waiting for something substantial to come out that is a real red flag from a neutral party that has no stake in any of it.

The market for Fields seems to have spoken for itself, though the League knows the Bears have Fields and the first pick, which kind of makes it all Ryan Poles' problem. They can still probably trade him, but they'd be getting next to nothing in return. Finding a buyer appears to be the bigger issue.

Third alternative, trade Fields and pick up Penix in Rd 2. Poor mans Burrow/Chase combo of Penix/Odunze in Chicago doesn't suck. Maybe we stay in the top 5 to get MHJr too- hell I would consider him #1 overall but it is stupid not to let QB starved folks run the first couple picks up.

Or keep Fields and put Penix in reserve if he drops to you (or some other later round flier). If neither pans out you are drafting QB or at least a more desirable FA spot with a stacked offense. I'm sure Rypien can be cut.
