My issue with drafting Caleb at 1.1 is that the Bears have a ton of problems and they wouldn't be putting him a position to succeed. If they draft Caleb AND manage to protect him up front AND provide him weapons, I'll feel much differently. I also have taken issue with his attitude. It has nothing to do with SC. Caleb, much of last season, but in previous seasons as well, has shown to be a very soft-minded person. He doesn't strike me as a leader or a professional. He strikes me as an every day entitled child who just happens to also be good at football. To me, that doesn't scream Super Bowl champion, imo.

With that said, I'm fully prepared to be proven wrong. The Bears are going to do what they feel is best. As a fan, I'm just along for the ride anyways.

100% - This is not a binary "best QB" discussion in a vacuum. Williams with lesser tools around him or Fields/Rd2-3 QB with better tools around him. Maybe they can get there with Odunze at 9, OL upgrade with whatever they get for Fields.

I think Odunze worked his way up. If he's there at 9, you have to take him. I don't think he's going before Harrison, but he's probably going before Nabers.

Odunze or Nabers at 9 is very good value.

Man I would be thrilled to get either Odunze or Nabers at 9. Some people have speculated that Nabers is too similar in skill set to DJ Moore, but I'd say take all the guys who get open with ease and make it easy for Caleb Williams. Just gotta shore up the OL with a bit more depth and get some more defensive players and you've got a team that could be very frisky next year.

CW at 1. Brock Bowers at 9. Let's rock n roll with 12 personnel all day long.

*assuming the top 3 WR are gone

"After nearly a quarter-century in the NFL draft evaluation business, I've learned that pure accuracy from the pocket remains the single best predictor of quarterback success at the pro level..."
Who's Rob Rang?

Bingo.

I really like Nabers' skills and swagger. He said he's the best WR in the draft. That's awesome. What's also awesome is he's talent, and in the end, just give me talent. He has explosive play ability. Done.

95% of the population feels slighted or grievanced in some way, so every idiot on two legs has a "chip on their shoulder." If I'm Ryan Poles, I'm not staking my job and franchise future on someone who feels slighted. Save all the "I took it personally" and "shock the world" bullshit. Nobody cares, snowflake.

Patrick Mahomes got drafted tenth. He's going about his business and playing ball. I don't hear him constantly talking about how slighted he feels.

I think it depends, as Chicago fans we know all about how MJ took any slight to fuel his drive even further to being the GOAT. In football today we've got Amon Ra in Detroit who remembers all the receivers taken ahead of him in the draft. The thing about having a chip on your shoulder is it's not as useful if you don't have the God-given talent that MJ or Amon Ra have.

The next Bears quarterback who wins a Super Bowl can convince himself that he's being blamed for JFK being assassinated for all I care. Do you, as the saying goes.

Michael Jordan worked his ass off, ultimately, on the court and in the weightroom. He knew the game. He also grew a shitload in high school. Manning watched hours of film. Brady took care of his body meticulously. Brees learned how to play the game despite his height limitations.

There is a major element that involves doing the work yourself and putting the time in to get better. People believe God just gives people this talent and they don't have to do anything but show up. Not so. For whatever reason, based on assumptions I'm still not quite clear on, individuals on this board and elsewhere think that Caleb Williams doesn't do the work nor will he put in the work. I don't know what specific examples people have other than his manicures and hugging him mom one time. They might be right. If Williams displays anything to the Bears that would lead them to believe he's not going to do the work, then take a hard pass. Nothing anyone who matters says to this point raises red flags that he's not dedicated to football.

He could just go out and play without being pissed off at anyone. Doesn't really matter to me. Whatever the means, the justified end is the first Super Bowl since 1985/86.

Oh I thought you were talking about potential receivers or just in general. Caleb (nor any of the QBs really) have struck me as having a chip on their shoulder. Well, JJ because of the whole Michigan (and Conor Stallions) against the world!

Exactly. It's stupid.

I'm not going to take a pass on the most talented option available to me because a guy who isn't as good is pissed off about something. Tom Brady was good. He got an opportunity because a guy on the Jets nearly killed Drew Bledsoe. Shit happens.

Too many people walking around feeling slighted. Nobody cares. Just do your job.

That’s 7th in AAV and it’s front loaded so if his health issues pop back up the Bears can cut him down the road for less pain. It also allows Jaylon to hit free agency again at 28. Really a win win

Made too much sense not to get done just like that.

Crazy right? my dream is Fire move here as well and build tons of soccer fields plus indoor
That ship seems to have set sail.

They could have built in Hoffman Estates off of 90 and 59 where the Now Arena (formerly Sears Centre) is but got hoodwinked by Bridgeview.

Without a doubt Cousins is a hall of fame business contract negotiator!! He’s had a guaranteed contract practically his entire career.👇🏼
Kirk Cousins will have made $331.4M off contract earnings in his career once this new deal is up. That is the second most in NFL history, trailing just Aaron Rodgers ($343.5M).

Dude has bet on himself and it has paid off big time. Just a pity that he tore his achilles last season because he looked great

He will have made over $400m all said and done, insane. I read that he is the 2nd most accurate passer behind Brees in NFL history, that surprised me.

If he ever got to a decent franchise he could get to a SB. But time is running out for Cousins.

Very worried about taking CW. I see a bust coming due to his penchant to whine. I’d keep Fields and build this team at all the need positions. Fields keeps improving and could be a SB QB. If Bears trade him, he’ll go somewhere and be a pro bowler next year.

Bears are just not allowed to have a great QB on their team.
