The former commissioner of the Big Ten, Kevin Warren, is now the President of the Chicago Bears. I simply don't see Kevin Warren signing off on giving Harbaugh the money and control he's going to want.

Bienemy or either of the Johnsons makes sense. They're all OCs and the Bears would look to build the offense around Fields to finally maximize whatever ability he has. Time is running out.

the entire league passing on Beniemy and the bears hiring him would just make too much sense.

Warren is the wild card in this whole thing. Is he going to be another Ted Phillips who’s focused on business or will he get into the weeds of football decisions?

My gut says he’s solely focused on Arlington Heights which I saw is completely knocked down recently.

It turns out he's a red ass. Really rips into players. At least that's what has come about since his move from the Chiefs to the Commanders. I guess he wouldn't be the first one ever in the history of NFL coaching, but when you look at some of the more recent hires, they're going away from the spitters and shitters who scream at guys and run them into the ground. If that's really how he is, I Don't think that's what Justin Fields needs. To go from passive aggressive Matt Nagy and Luke Getsy to that would be a disaster.

Rumors are he's going to oversee and have a heavy hand in football operations. He is going to see what Poles does with Eberflus and how that plays out. Regardless of that, his presence makes the Harbaugh rumors moot in my book. If Harbaugh is really all about having control of personnel and operations, Chicago isn't for him.

That right there is why I'm not buying any of the Harbaugh rumors.

I think the overriding factor is Kevin Warren leading the ship. Of all people, he's not going to hire Harbaugh let alone cede control of the team to him in a Pete Carroll-Seattle type of arrangement. That's just not happening, especially now in light of the Michigan vs Big Ten situation with Stalions and such. Warren was Big Ten Commissioner from 2020-2023 and supposedly has a bad relationship with Harbaugh. Considering where Harbaugh now stands with the conference after Warren is gone, I doubt those fences get mended.

Same day as Jerry Reinsdorf meeting with the mayor of Nashville. Could be happenstance.

These kinds of rumors started once Warren took over so this could be all negotiating tactics.

Arlington could be awesome but it's going to take A LOT of investments. I wasn't surprised when I read that Arlington is 30 acres larger than the entire SoFi complex in LA.

Friends of the Lake wouldn't let George Lucas build there but the bears think they are above that? Good luck. Maybe since it will be less events a year but I still don't see it.

They absolutely cannot think moving on from Fields is the right decision. I may move on from them as an organization if that's what they do

I'm of the opinion that they should move on from him.

How many times (yesterday included) has Fields gotten the ball in the late 4th quarter with a chance to win the game and done nothing. I understand that the protection isnt great, but its to the point where even his body language doesnt inspire confidence.

Draft Caleb and build the team with a QB on a rookie contract. See if you can get a 1st rounder for Fields.

100% agree. He is what he is. No chance to win at a high level with Fields. But, no way can we get a 1st rounder — maybe a 3rd, more likely a 4th. The whole league knows what he is and how to neutralize him.

I just don't feel confident with drafting Caleb. Maybe how USC played this year soured me on him, but I don't see the "generational" player everyone talks about. In addition to that, none of the Lincoln Riley QBs have had sustained success in the league.

That said, I'd rather draft Caleb than have a Daniel Jones-esq dilemma with Fields.

That first pick either needs to be traded out of again or use it for Marvin Harrison Jr.

My hope is that this coaching staff is all gone, but Poles hired them and now he gets to hire the replacement. That seems kind of scary.

I agree. I just don't see the logic behind moving on from Fields in favor of drafting Caleb Williams. A lot of the issues that Fields suffers from also applies to CW. Holds onto the ball and his vision isn't particularly good.

Fields didn't play well at all yesterday. But can't ask him to do anything more than what he did on the Hail Mary. Mooney needs to catch that. No excuse for that. That's 100% on him. Fields is constantly let down in crunch time. Protection has been utterly abysmal, especially late in the game. WRs outside of Moore have been often terrible this year.

Poles was hired like 2 days before ebuflus. The Bears organization does everything backwards, I don’t think poles was that involved in the search I think of out of who they liked poles picked Flus

Robert Toryan dropped a 74 yard TD pass. What more do people want from Fields? After DJ Moore and Cole Kmet, who is reliable around him?

What is happening to Fields is exactly what happened to Trubisky. You can't draft square peg player and try to fit him into a round hole offense. We've seen this story before under consecutive regimes....who are different regimes.

This is why I'm worried about Poles drafting Caleb and choosing a new coaching staff. It might be up to Kevin Warren to can Poles, can Eberflus and start fresh. The infrastructure makes this an attractive job.

He was involved. Hence, it wasn't an extensive search. It was 48 hours. Speculation as to how much of that choice was his feels pretty overblown. He signed off on it.

I get he signed off on it but to cut Poles loose after giving Ryan Pace 7 years would be pretty weird. I like a lot of what Poles has done so far.

It's not weird. CEO Kevin Warren came in this past January. He didn't hire Poles, or Pace. If Kevin Warren is going to be involved in football ops the way Ted Phillips wasn't, Warren has every right to toss Poles and Eberflus if he wants to.

They're the largest football market in the NFL and haven't been relevant in long time. They have a new stadium in the pipeline. Might all require some shrewd moves now to pay off later.

I like what Poles has done too other than the hiring of this coaching staff.

Is Fields worth the $40M-$50M AAV contract that he will ask for? Is he worth the market value a long-term starting QB demands? That to me is the question that the bears unfortunately need to answer a year early.

Rolling the dice and picking up the 5th year is another option but that's just kicking the can down the road IMO.
