21 completions for 162 yards.

Maybe that's what some folks are looking for, but I'm going to take a very hard pass.
That's perfect for a backup. Add on he is a rookie who likely never played against an NFL player during college and it's a real solid performance. I'm sure some are (I haven't seen it here), but there shouldn't be any calls for him to be the franchise.

I'm going to assume we regress back to the same ole Bears once the tape gets out on Bagent. Especially with the next game being Sunday Night Football. Khalil Mack revenge game (if that even makes sense).

We go through this in Chicago constantly. Whoever the QB2 is not only sucks but he's the most popular player on the team. It's a combination of habit and stupidity.

This situation is all the Greatest Hits with a little added bonus of this guy being a Division II player. Caleb Hanie had the decency to have attended Colorado State.

I really hope that Mack wouldn't look at this as a revenge game. The Bears paid him handsomely and when it was clear that the team needed a monster rebuild, he was traded to a team that was looking to be on the ascent. It's not like they shipped him to the worst team in the league or cut him. Shoot, I'm pretty sure it cost the Bears money to trade him.

this was being pointed out quite a bit yesterday and even this morning among the pundits. Everyone is kind of sitting around and asking "WTF" in this regard.
Exactly. It’s almost as if this staff is learning to coach on the fly. Which seems evident. How foreman hasn’t been on the active roster since week 1 makes no sense as well. Guy I believe was Carolina’s leading rusher last year and runs with purpose. Enough with Evans experiment

I don't know what Khalil Mack could possibly want revenge for, but conjuring up disrespect and perceiving slights is most certainly a thing today. I hope he'll be ok with his millions.

This Bears coaching staff leaves an incredible amount to be desired for the NFL level. Zero chance this is the group that gets them to a championship.

I like this move, needed something to start building out the lines. Hopefully he doesnt break the bank to extend him. This also to me signals they are in on #1.

even if they arent you have him for one more year on the cheap and isnt the following qb class pretty decent too. id love to see them trade back from the #1 or #2 or both if they dont take a qb. Grab Marvin Harrison Jr and an elite OT and start building the team the right way.

Also, timing of this is interesting with Cousins injury. Bears might feel like they can get him for pennies in FA.

This trade is predicated on him signing a contract extension now. Second rounder for this team is too valuable for a rental on a team going nowhere this season.

I was just going to say this. If he isn't extended for at least 3 more years, this is a terrible move. Chicago is not challenging and having Sweat might result in more wins, which means less draft capital.

If Sweat extends, it gives CHI a potentially dangerous DL.

I am already afraid that they overpaid in the trade and will overpay in the extension.

He's a good DE and the Bears are definitely lacking in pass rush right now. Don't pay him like a Bosa or Watt, but def extend him and let him upgrade the pass rush

Completely agree. If he is extended or Franchise tagged we will see, but most think there had to be an agreement in place for an extension before executing this. He has 6.5 sacks this season, the entire team has 10. Also, he is one of 7 players over the last 5 years, to have 5 or more sacks each of the last 5 seasons. Build up front, then let the DB's fly around in the back.

Bears should be trading for o lineman. That Charger game, woof. Tom Brady would have looked like ass with that protection or lack there of.

The problem is that trading for OL mid-season isn't really common, nor is it going to likely result in an upgrade.

OL tend to play better when there's cohesion and chemistry. The Bears have been a makeshift unit all season due to injuries. The injury to Jenkins resulted in them having to move Whitehair from center to guard, where he's nowhere near as good. And just as they get Jenkins back and the interior looks to be settled, Braxton Jones gets hurt, who is their best linemen overall. Not to mention Nate Davis has been in and out of the lineup.

There's just no continuity at all. They need a new center, because even if Whitehair's strongest position is center, he's still not good.

They tend to play better when they don't suck. In the end, block your man. The other four guys should be doing the same. If not, you still block your man.

Hypothetically, Sweat walks after this year, or Bears tag him and he walks after ‘24, do the Bears get the comp pick Washington would’ve gotten after this season? In either scenario? Both?

Only if his outgoing value isn't offset by the Bears bringing in other players in free agency. It's not strictly a 1:1 player or contract value comparison, but think of it like that.

62, 73, and 65 need to go elsewhere. 76 and 58 are a good start for the OL. I'm 42, the Bears havent drafted a franchise LT since I was 2 years old with Jimbo Covert #6 in the 1983 draft. That is unacceptable. The lack of addressing center since Olin has been a disaster too. Olin was bullish on Mustipher and mad at the shit he was getting from the media.. I tend to agree with 57. the rest of the line blew.

The ultimate saying is, the best ability is availability.

You can't have a good OL if you are missing guys left and right.

The Bears need to upgrade in their interior, but they should have a quality OL. But missing guys like Jones, Davis and Jenkins is not helping them in any way shape or form.

Speculate away.

The circus is the circus at this point.
Just seemed like an easy enough connection to make considering the beat was talking about Alan Williams' departure had HR involved and now the RB coach was let go due to a decision made by HR. Perhaps they're unrelated? But if so, this makes it look even worse for Flus that he picked multiple guys that have these problems.
