That write up gives me the sense it’s probably not going to happen. But that write up also makes me happy that they identified a guy who they thought was the best possible candidate and pulled out all the stops to try and land him.

This guy makes decisions differently than me. 24 hours. Beer optional. No more no less. Never did me wrong.

On the II pod they talk about how much autonomy (100%) he has at TT and there are doubts he would be given the same hands off treatment from MF. Like MF would likely want to reserve veto power in some cases and that might not be something Blanchard is willing to accept.
I guess I don't get how that autonomy would work- as far as; "make" the staff recruit his designated scouted players and final decision who they went after. Is he a primary recruiter?

In all honesty, what top program would be okay with zero veto power? Maybe TT but you are looking at a lower middle program there.

Scouting has to be more fun at a school like TT, you can take chances on 2/3 stars bc you're rarely going to get elite players anyway. At ND and other elite programs, you need 2/3 or more 4 stars or higher in order to compete for championships. Different animal since everyone is on them.

Decision by this weekend is hardly an ultimatum

I would think this is not a salary thing if they keep going back and forth. This is a staffing, who gets to do this, who has a say in that thing

Which I really have no issue if that truly needs to be ironed out. It’s important decisions and largely new roles and structure

I’ll still predict today or tommorow

Unless this guy is an ultra micromanager and negotiating for every last detail, I think he'd have already agreed if he were coming. This feels like he just isn't willing to pull the trigger for whatever reason - family, home, Texas, etc.

Quickly:

I’ve been told multiple times this was done; that’s why I adjusted the timelines.

Initially, the hold-up was family related; then, his role, and autonomy; then, contract specifics; and now, a desire for unconditional autonomy, and specific bonus escalators.

Notre Dame still feels very confident with this, but they are losing patience.

Frankly - not that I matter - so am I. I’m very careful to share accurate information, and he’s made that damn hard to do.

I don’t feel this is going to take until the end of the weekend, but Blanchard is becoming a pain in the ass.

Anyway, I just wanted to give a follow-up since I’m still awake, and had a bit of time until my therapy.

Rest up good sir. We appreciate any time at all you have for us.

At this point if he is hired he need to start his press conference with

"I haven't been this happy ever, and I think it’s the greatest city in the United States of America, South Bend. USC offered me $1.5m to be GM but fuck them twinks."

Sure hope this process isn’t fully indicative of the kind of person he is because this sounds like a red flag to me. I understand the family aspect and the stress of moving them but everything else is a bit much. If he does indeed come here and ND gives him every single item on his wishlist, he better be the superstar people think he is/will be.

Texas is becoming the new Fresno. Next thing we know, Blanchard is the Godfather to Tee Shephard and Deontay Greenberry lol

This has all the tell tale signs of ending badly for ND. What do you think are the odds that he signs?

I'm beginning to agree. If it's taking this long something is amiss. Would have thought this would have been a fairly cut and dry procedure.

Playing devils advocate, maybe he knows he has all the leverage and just playing his cards for the best deal. I mean, that’s what GMs do…negotiate deals.

ND just went to the Natty with this dude.

Plenty of other upgrades out there if it isn't Blanchard.
