I mean we’re literally the betting favorite to win the national championship right now. Obviously Vegas thinks the poor performance was a one off. We could be slightly worse than we thought we might be and still be the best team in the country this year, especially with Sayin hurt.

A lot of it comes down to how banged up ND really is, and the likelihood of getting back closer to 100% for, and after Miami.
Think about their ability to even be functional in the secondary with all the injuries. No team in the country jas that kind of secondary depth. ND does, but it will take their playmakers being healthy and making plays to beat Miami and be a bonafide contender.

It happens all the time. It's college football. It will only matter if we lose to Miami. Which is basically the Florida State game from 1993.
It's true. I just don't have much faith in Denbrock against Miami's defense after what we saw vs BYU.

I don't know why but I keep thinking back to the 2023 USC game. After that shitty loss to Louisville the week before, it felt like we were cooked and frauds. Instead we came out - at home, at night - and blew the doors off of an undefeated USC team. We did not have a great offense that season. It did not matter that night.

Punch Miami in the mouth early. Let it flow from there.

After the NIU loss, I thought we'd never win again.

Driskell calling out Denbrock and Driskell is 100%. Every team you watched yesterday has pre snap motion on their offense. We are literally the only team that doesn’t really do it.
Being able to watch so many games yesterday the one thing that stood out to me was offensive MISDIRECTION!! We suck at it and it’s the one thing that truly confuses defenses! When talent is lopsided in a game like ND/Stanford it’s not needed. But with evenly matched teams it does give the offense an advantage! I’m hoping more misdirection plays will be added to our offense!

Driskell said this? Nd is amongst the highest usage of presnap motion

We have pre snap motion but its a check that results in a RB dive for 1 yard. We ran it against BYU 1000 times.

I would not totally say Ohio St doesn't have a chance yet. They are still a highly talented team and reports indicate Luke Fahey is ready to go as their new qb. Losing Sayin is a massive loss but if Fahey/St Clair ball out you never know. Jeremiah Smith is any qb's best friend.

That doesn't tell the story. Moving your tight end from one side to the other isn't the same as zip motion, faking jet sweeps, counters, etc.

Yeah we also don’t run a modified triple option. We could bench CJ and start Hebert if people want more of that

I think the issue with how we use pre snap motion is the word effective. We don't use effective pre snap motion. It's more of going through the motions instead of using motion to get play makers in space or use a speed advantage we have in a match up.

I don’t agree with this either.

Most the pre-snap motion is to identify what the defense is. I believe CJ has been very successful (maybe too successful for his own good with all the checks) at identifying defenses.

I think we’d all love a bit more creativity and I’d personally love some jet motions, swing passes etc for Graham or Faison but I also don’t care if that improved creativity comes from motion or not.

The motions tell the coverage for CJ. You can say it’s always a run or not but you would be emotional and wrong.

Could they mix in more creative Tyreek Hill style motions? Sure. Are the motions useless? No. Do they not motion? No. Is it always a run? No. Are some usages not applicable to a pocket QB? Yes. Is the application perfect? No.
