Brian Kelly's Bad In-Game Coaching

Multiple games now he has shown he doesn't know the math for when to kick versus not kick for field goals.

Calling WR sweeps at the goal line is absurd. Throwing the ball so much when Folston is getting 7+ a carry is equally absurd.

And worst of all, he never gets the team up to snap the ball quickly on plays that might be reviewed.

Is it because he takes too much on his plate trying to call plays on top of everything else a head coach needs to do?

This game really has me baffled today. I'm really not understanding most of the game decisions today.

Kelly is having an off day. We'll see if it gets better, but he's had some real head-scratchers lately.

I love BK overall but I totally agree. The three areas a head coach/OC needs to excel in:

1) Kick it or go for it
2) Clock management
3) Playcalling in general

He is definitely below average in (1) and (2) and his playcalling is average at best.

Why? A huge number of us thought this is the ND we'd see this season.

A DL that'd get spent during the season leading to a defense that could be just plain bad, leading to games in which the offense would have to outscore teams.

This was a worse loss than Tulsa considering we are into year 5 under Kelly and Northwestern might actually have less talent than they did.
