To be fair, those Bama teams were FAR better than this one.

This may be the worst Bama team under Saban since his first year, if not at least 2010.
Agreed. What's odd though, is that before last season, we expected the 2021 team to be a rebuilding one and 2022 was supposed to be the loaded, experienced team expected to trample everything in its path. Instead, the 2021 team outperformed all expectations and almost won it all, and this year's team is just mediocre at best. 2010 was a very talented team with a bad, entitled, lazy attitude. 2022 doesn't look particularly talented. It feels like other than a small handful of great players, we just missed on our evaluation or development of all the rest. Two studs on each side of the ball surrounded by mid-grade talent.

To be fair, your Bama version of “mediocre” is something 98% of college football strives for.

Congrats to BK for beating Bama last night. Jayden Daniels is turning out to be the best transfer in college football.

I think this is the biggest win for Kelly during a regular season. But it took him how long to get this win??

Freeman got his first big win last night in his first college head coaching job; first season.

And you are happy about that?

Bama already lost to Tennessee. Saban has 2 loses this seaon. That is all that matters.

Yes I'm happy about that. I'm sick of Alabama and love it when they lose.

I'm also looking forward to seeing what Kelly can do at one of the big boys without the self imposed limitations that ND puts on the program. Hecalso did a lot for our program.

How long did it take him at LSU? A big program that has the schools support, not working against it.

Freeman got one quick. Thrilled for him and the program. You can be happy and support both.

This is BK's first season, but he has had multiple HC positions, this is Freeman's first HC positions.

For those BK fans out there hopefully he doesn't have a Lorenzo Styles type of season next year.....

We need to have refs from the conference with the most to win from our opponents' loss. SEC when playing ACC, etc.

I know someone who ...
has more victories than any other active coach.
is the all-time winningest Notre Dame coach (starting from a program mess.)
averaged eleven wins over the past five Notre Dame seasons ("got lazy?")
made playoffs twice in last four years (might this year too.)
National Coach of the year in 2012 and 2018 (did the best with what he had?)
Alternative COTY award (Home Depot Award) three times --- no one else more than once
players consistently in top four on graduating statistic
Grand Valley Hall of Fame
Cincinnati Hall of Fame (yep) after completely upgrading everything there
... and I'll put a bunch of money that he will be in the national NCAA Hall of Fame.

Not a great coach?
Lazy?
What a #@%## joke.

We need to quit festering about a REALLY great coach, and let it go.
Marcus Freeman coaches Notre Dame now.

My favorite scenario is still: three years from now both Notre Dame and LSU are in the playoffs
and meet in the championship which ND wins in a titanic display of splendid football on both sides.

Big time. Kelly moved on. So have I.

Kelly won a ton of games but didn't get a National Championship. A lot of great memories as he was coach at ND when all three of my kids were born.

For me, the task now falls on Marcus Freeman to achieve another Championship for ND so as I fan I get to see one again in my lifetime. I don't care if he gets one before or after Kelly. Just get one.

Trying to be respectful to my beloved Notre Dame but when he said how appreciated he felt when interviewed by Holly Rowe really says it all-he will be missed and should have been held in a much higher esteem.

ND was willing to give Brian Kelly unlimited rope and let him ride out into retirement on his own terms. We were plenty respectful of him and defended him constantly.

LSU "appreciates" him more because they were willing to pay him $100M with 90% guaranteed regardless of performance and ND wasn't. If that's disrespectful to you, then I demand that you respect me.

Edit: I just saw your post in the Clemson thread. Lol nevermind you're not worth arguing with.

ESPN HOLLY ROWE made a great statement on BK today-it wasnt very complimentary towards Notre Dame-but it was true. Underappreciated and undervalued-Irish didnt know what they had until its gone. The usual about doing alot with one hand tied behind his back-obvious results at LSU

Man loves himself some Holly Rowe

He’s lucky he got another chance after 2016.

Speaking of insufferable ND fans, what's the temperature of NDNation? Since everything in the present is worse than the past, I assume they're suddenly wistful of BK and are angry that we beat Clemson?

I get your sentiment, and understand your stance, but this thread is about Brian Kelly.

The entire purpose of this thread is to provide commentary about Brian Kelly. He is the topic of the thread. All posts are about him.

Some of the commentary will be complimentary to Kelly, some of it won’t be, but the only way to truly let it go is ignore the thread completely.

Some poster started a complimentary thread of Dabo’s presser after the game with others parroting a defense of his program, if that gives you some insight into how brain broken they are.

Uhh. I believe that since the thread is about Coach Kelly, my post about Coach Kelly should fit in quite well. Since threads are about posters" opinions, my post about my opinion should fit in quite smoothly too. How one objects to this is puzzling. My point about "letting it go" is about those who try to rewrite history that he is not a great coach just because they dislike him personally.

He’s not a great coach though. He’s really good. Great? No

Shots fired by Kelly?

Anyhow, the ACC refs trying to influence the outcome has been pretty blatant these past two games.
Absolutely shots fired, he knows the ACC refs are chicken sh*t. Everything about his move is a middle finger to every source of resistance he faced from having to work at recruiting, to having to work at getting the BoT to invest, to having to work against refs week in and week out. The man was burnt out, and while I don’t particularly like him or respect him for the way he left I can’t really blame him.

He will be inducted into the College Football HoF at some point. That only happens to the greatest coaches.
What makes him great? Genuinely curious. It took him 8 years to have back to back 10 win seasons. No New Years six bowl/BCS bowl wins.

Titles at GVSU, BCS at cinci, bringing ND back from the ashes becoming winningest coach and several postseason appearances, likely will get a title at LSU (look at who before him has managed to win at least one) if not a couple NYD wins.

You might not love the pace or him personally (I sure as hell don’t), but the man has chops. Bill Snyder doesn’t have nearly as impressive resume as Kelly likely will when he hangs them up, and he’s in the HoF.

College Football HoF requirement for induction: “He must have been a head coach for a minimum of 10 years and coached at least 100 games with a . 600 winning percentage”

What made John Cooper & Earle Bruce great? As you know, it’s their entire coaching career so BK’s time at ND is just a part of the story.

'We're going to be doing a lot more of this'

'Hell yeah we are'

I think he finally feels free. He's becoming Jimmy Johnson now.
