This makes no sense. “Everyone” wants to project the best on Freeman? Are you saying there’s been no criticism of his first year (one that has yet to be completed?). Did you not agree when Freeman was hired that he’d be “learning on the job”? If you were 100% against his hiring when it occurred (show receipts please)than I respect your opinion.Never - but Freeman has yet to SIGN a class. That is my point. Everyone wants to project the best on Freeman and he has yet to finish a single cycle but the class currently is very good but without Keeley and a QB its not elite like other program's classes. Will it be better than Kelly's class? Who knows. Time will tell. Just don't assume it will until it happens.
Ask yourself ”how many years did BK coach at ND?”Where does it say either HC have SIGNED the #1 class??? That would be news to me. When Freeman SIGNS at Top 3 Class then that would be worth discussions. I think the class will be 4 - 7 type class when signed. Similar to ranges Kelly has been in.

So you gave BK from 2010-2021 to bring in quality QBs…how’d that work out? I’m sure you were a big Ian Book fan. Didn’t BK flip Ian Book from LSU at the last moment?Well where is our 3rd quality QB this year then??? Why are we in this QB mess then?

Except LSU was projected to finish 5th in the SEC West, and he’s already matched their last year win total.Kelly has beaten Miss St, Auburn, Ole Miss and Florida.
That’s the SEC equivalent of what he was doing to ACC teams while here. And considering how those teams have looked in recent weeks, games that don’t have quite the shine as they did the night of.
Got pounded by Tennessee. If they win tonight, hats off to him. If they get run by Bama, this is the same result we’ve seen here for years.
Kelly brought in a QB this year at LSU, just like he brought one in last year at ND. So he at least recognizes when the position needs help.![]()

Ian book was a 3*, 500+ ranked recruit and ended up starting a game in the NFL. So some development definitely occurred.
But i get you guys. Kelly was awful and we’re glad he’s gone. He was just another knot in the consecutive David-Willingham-Weis rope of mediocrity that ND has been tugging.
Dale:No?
LSU has more recruiting talent on the roster than ND. The same if anything. Far less?
Don’t let facts get in the way though. You haven’t so far.

Don’t be such an ND homer. LSU is ranked number 10 and we are unranked. He started with 38 scholarships Notre Dame started the top five team.
When you take the totality of what Kelly is done it’s pretty remarkable at LSU and we are experiencing major growing pains from Freeman. Just almost factual hopefully Friedman will get better
Dude, lol. You act like you are the only one who knows what BK was at ND. I don’t loathe BK. I was an ardent supporter of his when many others weren’t. Even when his BVG experiment led our program to a massive shit season with our team trending downward. Admin. had free reign to dump his stubborn ass but instead “encouraged” him to make some key changes, which to his credit he did. He had breaks at ND that otherwise would have sent him to the curb. Thank god they didn’t because he turned out to be a serviceable coach AND was able to help him parlay his contract to more money... just not at ND. So, yes, he should thank his lucky stars for Notre Dame. And we should thank him for “Here Comes the Boom”. But you’re right about one thing, I consider his exit a blessing in disguise.I don’t know what this means. Kelly had ND winning. Prior to that he was winning at Cincy. Prior to that at GVSU. He earned the right to his LSU contract. Pretty clear he is a banksble Top Tier HC - unfortunately most ND fans are loathed to admit that.
No one wins a championship here including Nick Saban. NDs own worst enemy is the University itself.BK has 2 QB's for the 2023 class if I am reading correctly? 1 will eventually flip or transfer as well as having Howard. It will be hard to keep those 3 happy.
I think BK reached his ceiling at ND- he was never going to win a NC there and I don't foresee him winning a NC at LSU. Do any of you really think he can win vs Kirby Smart or Nick Saban?
The flavor is good right now at LSU, go beat Bama today and I might take a sip of the Kool-Aid.
In the long run ND is better off with Freeman, I don't think Kelly will last his full 10 year contract at LSU.
Well, who was responsible for assessing the QB's that they were going after for all those years?Funny stuff. But yes BK has done some really good moves as an experienced HC and we are suffering from basic QB room assessment issues. It will be interesting how things fair for both programs. I just wish Freeman knew what he was doing and demanded Rees pick up Daniels or Slovis like Kelly did at LSU did w Daniels.
This is the worst Bama team in agesThe confidence that Brian Kelly would be totally over his head against Saban has been proven unfounded.
Very probably true.MFer can coach. I think him leaving was good for everyone
