Fuuuuck I haven't been to Henry's in a LONG time. Usually hanging out at Finn McCool's on gameday, if I'm not at home watching.
Nice. Love Finn’s. I’ve had many, many pints of Guinness and caught soccer or rugby matches there. Mid City Yacht Club is great too. I grew up in the Garden District near Commander’s. Tracey’s, Rendezvous, Finn’s, Cooter Browns, hell, even Rusty Nail (as long as Alabama wasn’t on) were my
go to spots for games. Finn’s is one of the best soccer bars in the country.

Wasn’t he like their 3rd choice?

They panicked when Lincoln Riley pulled the rug, and overpaid for BK to save face.

I guess second? It appears Riley was Woodward's top choice, which I was not a fan of. The guy completely neglects defense. He doesn't even like the thought of it.

That said, a very sizable portion of the fanbase hated the Kelly hire. A portion of the Lafayette, New Iberia, Eunice, Mamou likes - and trust me, they are a very different breed - wanted Napier. I guess they thought he was doing great things at UL-Lafayette. Woodward would have never made that hire, and pretty much everyone else who didn't reside in Lafayette Parish would call for Woodward's head for that hire. The nickname, "Sunbelt Billy" originated for a reason...

Regarding the Kelly hire, I had many friends and family who despised it. They thought ND sucked, ND was always overrated when Kelly was there, ND/Kelly couldn't match up with the SEC (oddly, despite going 2-0 against LSU in a coupe of bowl games), he was too old, he was too conservative....you name it, it was said. I, however, like them, watch lots of ND games. I loved the hire. I liked what he was doing/did there. ND has certain challenges that your LSU, Alabama, Ohio State, USC, Clemson, Penn State, Georgia, FSU, and so on aren't faced with. But, I think he's a good coach. I still think he's a very good coach, certainly the best we've had since Saban. He's got his flaws, and his loyalty to "his guys" (Polian, Denbrock, Diaco, etc.) is detrimental.

He'll provide a lot of stability for the program. That's something very much needed. It was a rollercoaster the latter portion of Miles' tenure. Oregon, nothing else needs to be really said...

Regarding last night, it's tough to admit, but they were the better team last night. It's also tough to admit that they've built a better roster, but I'll tip my cap to them. It also hurts that the best player last night is from Opelousas, he was just wearing red and gold. They kicked our ass, and they'd most likely do it again. That's a very good FSU team. Very, very complete.

We'll still win a lot of games with Kelly at the helm. We'll also lose more, too. Yes, the fanbase wants his head on a platter today. The expectations are championship or bust pretty much every year here. Maybe we should taper those expectations? It's a lot more tolerable when you can watch the games objectively.

Stability is great. And he will provide that. But it takes one coach to ruin that. And LSU has proven repeatedly they will do that.

Obviously, BK’s contract is a monstrosity, but nothing your program can’t overcome. I wouldn’t taper your expectations. By all accounts, you have a full-on football establishment with a plethora of excellent resources to be successful. Kelly is counting on you settling for the stability. Notre Dame was in a similar predicament regarding instability. Even though it brought some successes, the chip was never actually in reach and we even hit some new lows along the way. Keep a keen eye on how your talent is used. It’s a mixed bag with Kelly’s teams. Some players will play beyond expectations and others will certainly diminish in their production. I don’t doubt you will win some games this season, as you have fast players with serious talent. However, Kelly will continue with the head scratchers.

If we are tapering, Kelly could easily win there if literally anyone else filled out the rest of his staff.

If he simply functioned as a CEO with the appointed staff and not Mayor McCheese, it would work very well for all involved.

I am probably the last remaining ND fan who still likes BK. He will get some good wins this season. I see an 11-2 season.

I was just looking at LSUs depth chart to see who their next in line QB is and saw Ovie is listed as a starter. Did he start?

College experimentation aside, I think you have it down rikkitikki08.

You're starting to sound like a Notre Dame fan.

I like BK. I grew to on Bob, Tyrone, and Charlie.

BK gave me many seasons with hurt. Those jabronis only hurt me once or twice.
Yep. I was a freshman at Notre Dame in Bob Davie's first season. I walked 13 years through the darkness with those losers. Then with BK at the helm I attended a national championship game and, later, watched the best five-year stretch of Notre Dame football since I was a middle schooler. For that I'll always appreciate, and, yes, respect, him.

I don't like the way he left, but I understand why he did (because he has done everything a college football coach can except win a title and he thought he'd have a better shot at LSU, which I can't disagree with). I think he'll make LSU a consistent 10-game winner, like he did us, and a contender in the SEC. Because he is very good at running a consistent, winning, college football program. But, yeah, I'm not sure he'll ever get them over the hump, because for whatever reason he has a hard time with the biggest games, and in getting the most of out truly elite talent. I'll be curious to see how long LSU is willing to make that deal.

Well if you're ever around and plan on being at Finns for a game, let me know and I'll buy you a beer. :)

There is an old adage (which I cannot seem to find) that says "People will only remember how you left."

Unfortunately for BK, he left under very negative circumstances as far as ND fans are concerned. He won't outlive it. Had he won a Natty or two all would have been forgiven in time. But, I don't see him shaking his departure considering he never won the big one. Had he left under better circumstances I think his legacy would be far brighter.

ND fans are so typical. He left ND just like he left Cincy and now they scratch their heads why did that happen??
