His contract is guaranteed. If he does get canned I bet he takes a job with lower expectations and eases his way into retirement.I almost feel bad for the guy(but not really...). Things can always turn around, but at the moment, it looks like he effed up royally by ditching ND for seemingly greener pastures. He might not make it past this year. Imagine if he loses to Vandy, then what is he going to do? Dude's 63, is he going to start again somewhere else?
Obviously he is going to be great financially. I didnt think money was the reason he left ND. I was under the impression he actually thought ND was holding back his genius. That if he had LSU level talent and facilities surely he would have competed with Bama in 2012. That he would thrive at LSU. Instead, barring an upset, ND will be back in the playoffs while LSU won't. Instead of solidifying his position as a top tier coach, he is doing the opposite. He is writing his history as just another coach that didnt have the chops to make it at an elite SEC school like a Muschamp. If he stayed at ND he could have been a legend. His contract is guaranteed. In a word, No.It is crazy how soft LSU has gotten under BK.

I dunno, I always figured this was his pre-retirement money grab. Don't be shocked if he rides this buyout right to TV.His contract is guaranteed. If he does get canned I bet he takes a job with lower expectations and eases his way into retirement.
One of the subtle best things to come out of his LSU tenure, between this image and the dancing with recruits, is the refreshed meme inventory that doesn’t have the ND logo on it.
It wasn't like he was poorly paid at Notre Dame. I always thought it was about the chance to win a title, which he thought would be easier at LSU. Apparently not.I dunno, I always figured this was his pre-retirement money grab. Don't be shocked if he rides this buyout right to TV.

A&M's QB killed them too. Who is LSU's DC and why does he not account for running QBs?LSU gave up 300 yards rushing, at home and at night, to that Alabama team? How did they let Milroe run for 185?
Kelly's $9,9750,000 salary for this year has produced a squad that has no chance of making it past some sort of furniture or condiment bowl game. I am in no way advocating for a coaching change, so let's not go there. But who's satisfied?
Kelly makes $10 million a year, has the highest paid defensive coordinator in the country, the highest paid defensive line coach, and several others ranked among the highest paid at their position. And at the start of the fourth quarter, your stadium is empty and your 300 recruits you advertised in the stands are left thinking what?
I don’t think LSU can afford the buy out. At this point, you’d be rolling the dice to part ways as well. It isn’t like they aren’t bowl eligible … parting ways and LSU can potentially grab a Napier and that would be disastrous.I don’t think riding off and going to TV is that simple.
Dude is universally mocked and loathed by the entire country. Nobody wants to listen to him, unless he is slamming his hand on a table after another embarrassing loss.

For normal humans, that is a lot of money. For LSU, they blow their nose with that shit. That’s why they gave it to him in the first place. I speculate they are already mobilizing to get rid of him. He loses one more game, particularly against a lesser opponent, they fire him on the spot. Watch.
I guarantee that’s not happening.I think it would be more reasonable that the encourage him to take another job and wave the buyout.
