It's the same bullshit as always you have a dominant team at the top Georgia and the other teams are meh but you get to chant sex because you guys win national championships by the same two schools over and over

I agree with you, but this year may be a little different. Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and perhaps Oklahoma look like tough company. Who knows what to expect from Auburn and/or if LSU and Texas A&M will progress. It’s a tough conference this season

Edit: Forgot about Missouri

Interesting typo but for football fans who are as emotionally invested in rooting for a conference, sex may be the operative word.

The stuff they are ranting about is so deja vu:
-Always taking the ball first for no reason rather than deferring.
-Red zone inefficiency
-Couldn't run in short yardage or clear running situations
-No complimentary football

This was my one concern with Denbrook. He was in charge of those Kelly ND offenses that couldn't do anything in short yardage. Having Riley QB power like Tebow hopefully offsets this. Freeman needs to keep placing emphasis on the power run "attitude" especially once CJ is running the team.

In his postgame interview he said that he has to coach better than that ... when the fuck did we hear that from him before?

“I have to coach better” roughly translates to “I’m gonna demoralize my roster before the season even really starts by berating them all day Monday in practice and running them until
they puke.”

This season has a high chance of a locker room mutiny, and I’m here for it.

BK having trouble starting too. He’s lost every season opener as the coach at LSU. Maybe he needs to change his approach.

We spent 12 years seeing a pedestrian offense early in the season and always heard “he’s keeping it vanilla until Michigan” or something like that from his sycophants.

The fact is he IS vanillla, and always will be.

Does anyone actually miss this guy? Freeman is night and day a way better coach. Kelly likes to Punt on 4th and inches Freeman puts trust in his players
It’s interesting how it seems like we have all congealed around this thought: “glad he was here for a bit, turned around the program for the better, but hit his ceiling, glad he’s gone now.”

There certainly wasn’t a consensus like that right after he left, or even the few years leading up to it.

This thread was started in 2015. There were plenty of people openly unhappy with him before the end, and others who just tolerated him because they felt like they had to.

I think many people’s issues were that changing coaches rarely goes well or is easy and that some schools just never get the right one. I’d say we did good with MF so far.

Look at Florida since Urban, FSU since Jimbo, …. It’s a real concern that people are rightly not ok with.

When a coach bails that late in the process, it sets a program back for years. He takes the staff, the recruiting class falls apart, and now with the portal, the entire roster was in danger of bolting. It's understandable that people were worried despite their feelings for Kelly.

ND held it together, but we still took a few steps backwards. Freeman has put together a great staff, has the team "up" for big games, and might be able to break us past Kelly's ceiling.

I think we have reached the point where the team on the field is better for Kelly having left. I'm not sure you could really have said that in 2022 or 2023. But I think we're there now.

I agree completely. I wasn’t making a judgement one way or the other, just an observation of how the reaction has evolved over time.

Maybe I read your premise wrong, but I assumed it was saying Kelly being a POS is a relatively new concept, and didnt happen until after the exit.

Yeah, that’s not what I was saying. I really wasn’t saying anything, I guess, other than making an observation about the reaction of the fanbase to him leaving and how everyone has sort of arrived at the same place in the last couple years.

That said, I knew he was a POS after “get used to it”, and was wholly satisfied the day the day he left, for whatever that’s worth,
