I mean, that stat is basically bullshit. That 2012 team had a bunch of Kelly players playing HUGE roles. Very clever of them to subjectively draw the line there as "post-Weis"...
I worked 16 hours per week, was President of a club, a contributing member of a few others, and generally didn't put all that much effort into my studies while a student at ND. I did fine. That is just anecdotal evidence and maybe I was a bit smarter than some of these players but I think the "struggles with class work" are severely overblown. Yes, some players may struggle and probably don't belong at ND academically, but this surely doesn't apply to more than a handful of players on the team.

No, just fine for their sampling purposes. A coach is commonly said to completely own a team when it is filled by his recruiting classes alone; ie a commonly used benchmark. In your defense, it certainly isn't a "holistic" view of his time with the program - I just wouldn't call it bullsquat.
2012 = Manti Teo
Soft landing for BK with the Jets?
All of the changes in the last 7 years and we are doubting the administration's dedication to winning football? Structurally there are a lot of things in place that individually would have been viewed as impossible 10 years ago - collectively inconceivable! Field turf, video board, stadium music, smoke entering the stadium, night games at home, training table, luxury boxes (I mean that IS what campus crossroads is all about right?), 7 figure assistant pay checks...
Just because #1 is academics does not mean that #2 is fully neglected.
Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick says Brian Kelly won't be coaching for his job
This is going to make a lot of people mad!!! Go Irish!
I'm at most of the practices. I'm at training table. I have an office at the Gug [football complex] in addition to my other office. I get to see the program day in and day out and I continue to have great confidence in Brian and confidence in our future as a program."
Swarbrick said he has spent more time with Kelly this season than in past seasons, but the nature of those meetings are targeted on narrow issues
The proverbial "Kiss of Death"?
Keeping a close eye on things. I wonder how BK feels about Jack watching over his shoulder?
Michigan had to dump Brandon before they got Harbaugh. We have to do the same, imo. F. Lee Swarbrick can stay on as AD for non-football sports, we need a football-specific AD. One who knows something about football, not a contract lawyer.

NDg, where did you do your undergrad?
No comment, I have to worry about getting a faculty job and academics are extremely petty when it comes to hiring (and everything else). Not an FBS football school though. Why do you care?

Just curious. You're very opinionated about the Irish as a grad student from somewhere else. Just wondered if your first school drove you nuts too. And I'm not saying that in a bad way. I didn't attend ND and I'm full of opinions about the Irish, 10x more than the 3 schools I attended. But I grew up nearby in the 70's so there is that component to the equation.
Wow. This is quite the post.
It sure has been interesting to watch your evolution from a casual fan to this passionate, hate everything about the current football program, super fan.
Whereas for most fans, 2-5 starts to the season are just another day in the park?
When the facts change, I change my opinion. What do you do?
BREAKING: Swarbrick spotted outside the football stadium!

It's not the fact that you are upset with the program this year, it's that when you first came on this site you were very focused and intense on all things political and kinda passive and laid-back on the football threads. Ever since the Duke loss you come off as this very angry fan that has been a ND fan that lives and dies ND football. It's just been a rather interesting transition.
And the hiring of BK in the first place make complete sense. The #1 Predictor of success at ND has been proven success as a college HC (Ara, Lou had it. Faust, Davie, Ty, Weis didn't)
BK had that in spades.
Just trying to help you out, I'm sure you forgot that by mistake.
Did you do this?
I'm just curious. I wasn't aware we had any Photoshop talent outside of Beau.
