That's two games in the last 10 where... everything else excepted... knowing when or when not to go for 2 would've made the difference in the outcome. Lost us Northwestern, and kept us from OT in this game. What a shame.

With that being said, Brian Kelly didn't make ND fumble/muff the ball... 6? I think 6 times... or commit 4 turnovers.

I'm only giving him shit for that fucking 2 pt call. You are shredding their D with a pass. You cannot run it. You cannot run it. So you try a run play? Fucking Face Palm

Or roll him out and let him throw it or run it. No run only play.

This was FSU 2.0. Sucks I feel like we were the better team but literally can't blame anyone else this time. Dumb drops, fumbles. I mean amazing the game was as close as it was. Credit to the defense who played a hell of a game and was dealt a shitty hand by the fumblitis. Lets hope this game doesn't mirror the FSU game in the sense that we collapse the rest of the way, although looking at the injuries I really can't be that optimistic

On a side note, amazing how we, the writers and such were talking about how we completely exploit the deal with the ACC. When really you look at last year and this one, we gave them the game of the year on the national stage to propel them in the national spotlight.

Agreed that the players are culpible. Doesn't excuse the end of game 2 point play call. BK deserves a heap of criticism for that. 2 point decision earlier in 4th was questionable at best.

Kizer fumbled and CJ muffed a punt with recoveries off the top of my head, plus the 4...

anyway, mostly wanted to respond to this post to tip my hat to you. Basically laid out how the game would go to the t this morning..

I was not at all impressed by Clemson tonight. They got this game handed to them on a silver platter. 4 ND turnovers in the second half, and ND still manages to make a game of it. Oh well, It was a rough day for the top 10, I'm glad at least ND made a game of it. Take away the damn season ending injuries, and the weather, and it would have been a different game. (moral victory I know...)

Be fair. There's blame to go around.....All the people who get some blame -- the defense, which until the last quarter didn't make many third and short stops; the guys turning it over; the receivers with drops; Kizer with a bonehead play here and there; Kelly with the mishandled two point conversions -- all the people who get some of the blame, also did some great things and were a game bunch, when some other teams -- Irish teams and other teams -- would have laid down. Tough loss, but it showed heart, on the road, tough place, terrible weather, missed holding call, and all. I feel bad, but I'm still all in.

I mean, the call didn't work, but I don't think it was necessarily a bad one. Our O-line had numbers and they lost.

I would have kicked the extra point earlier in the game but the fact is if Robinson makes the catch we win the game with an extra point at the end. It's easy to rip a play call when we know the result of the play. TOs, missed tackles and dropped passes doomed us. Still need to get to 10 wins and a major bowl.

Right. The call only looks bad in retrospect because CRob didnt catch a ball that he should have caught 10/10 times. If he catches that ball Kelly looks like a genius because somehow against all odds we win that game in regulation.

I agree. Our O-Line is supposed to win. And it was certainly unexpected. If it works, Kelly is a genius. Who knows if he even called it...

Agree, I kind of liked the play call as I thought Clemson might be thinking pass. Kizer ran well all night.

I have no idea because i havent gone back and looked at the play, but i have a feeling that play was a run/pass option. It looked like after Kizer went down short Fuller threw his hands up in the air as if he was open and Kizer wrongly chose to run.

I don't think it was, but it's tough to say... Kizer looked like he was running from the second he touched the ball..

For me it's more about Kizer on a straight run. I like being +1 in the Red Zone on a designed QB run, just don't agree with that as a go to two point play. Given the flow of the game I would have liked a run/pass option or if running, get it in prosise's hands.

Considering that Kizer appeared to make more than a few bad "run/pass" decisions throughout the game, I would not be surprised if it WAS a run/pass option, and Kizer just made the wrong choice.

I think Kelly maybe did his best coach-to-player coaching EVER in this game.

Every time a player got down, Kelly was calming them down and talking it out. Kizer needs more polish; BK needs to work on his must-have playcalling.

That's a valid point. It very well could have been. I have not had the gumption to re-watch.

Looking at how everyone blocked, I think it was a straight run.

One thing we're not talking about is that Alize Jones was completely absent from the game after the first quarter I think. I don't know what he screwed up. And Nic Weishar is not strong enough at the point of attack for what they were asking him to do.

Which brings me to my main problem with that play call... if Luatua is the lead blocker there, he maybe/probably gets in. Weishar gets destroyed and driven back into Kizer which is why he's stopped a yard short.

If you don't feel this way, you aren't 32 years old and don't remember how bad it's been since 1993, lol.

It looked like he might have got hurt on that one play. He stayed down for a couple of seconds before getting up gingerly.
