Yeah I need to re-watch that scene but it's obvious Walt knew the police were there. Jr. was on the phone with the police as Walt left the house. Plus he knew after taking Holly the police would be there. So I tend to believe he was trying to protect Skylar and his family at that point. I'm not even going to try and guess what happens on the last two shows. Interesting that Dean Norris said that after filming his final scene he didn't hang around with everyone for the night. Got on the first plane he could to North Carolina. Think it hit him after the scene that the run on the show was over. Probably was pretty depressed at that point.
Not so sure that was the reason. It has been stated in a few places that Norris wasnt happy with the show and was seriously considering quitting before this last season, they had to convince him to stay by explaining that his character played a crucial role in the events still to come.
As far as what happens at the end, it depends on how Walt's house burned down. If the neo-nazis sense he'll cause a problem and burn it down, the finale has to be Walt staging a full-scale assault on them. But at this juncture, what would have caused Walt's house to burn? It's an interesting question I can't wait to have solved.
Im almost positive Walts house isn't burned in the flash forwards. It is simply run down. The Heisenberg Graffiti is presumably put there by kids from the area that learned the name after the whole story hit the fan.
My guess is that we see Walt a few moths after the last episode as he is tying up loose ends. As he reflects he decides that he does care for Jesse and decides to go back and save him from the NN. That is what the M60 is for.
The ricin could be for one of two things either he is going to use it to kill Lydia, because we have seen several scenes focusing on her tea. Or it is for Marie, i don't see a reason for Maries scene from a few episodes ago with the therapist, other than to foreshadow her going after another character. Walt finds out Marie is trying to poison Skylar as vengeance for Hanks death and Walt fittingly poisons her before she can kill Skylar.
I think the Lydia option fits better with the idea of tying up loose ends, but the Marie scenario would allow Walt to be the savior of the family while also getting rid of the only connection keeping the family from getting back together. So if the show wants to end with a happy ending where Walt gets what he wants i think Marie has to die.
Lastly i don't see any scenario where Walt kills himself. Lots of people have been speculating that thats what he intends to do with the ricin, but i don't buy it. Walt has shown over and over how self preservation is one of his main motives. Unless killing himself can save his family I don't see any way this could happen. Plus ricin is a slow painful death, why do that if you could just use the M60 or let the cancer kill him.
