The Dolphins finished the 2005 season with a 9-7 record, narrowly missing the playoffs. They finished 2006 at 6-10, Saban's only losing season as a HC anywhere, largely because they didn't have a QB. Their defense and run game were very solid.

If only my Dolphins’ medical staff had given Brees the pass…. :(

the scUM QB ain’t no Bryce Young. UGA is gonna load up on the run and dare McNamara to beat them with his arm.

He doesn’t need to be Bryce Young to beat UGA. He has plenty of weapons at RB, WR, and TE. Plus that Oline won the Joe Moore award. He’s going to have time to find those weapons. And then you got that defense that is playing lights out. I think they’re going to do it.

If he was particularly good at those things wouldn't he have been a successful NFL coach?
He was a failure at the NFL level and split after 2 years because he knew he wasn't all that good at those things.
Also when you bring motor sports into it, he is a bit like Lewis Hamilton, he SHOULD win every year because he has easily the fastest car. All he needs to do is keep it on the track.

You act like going 16-17 when rebuilding an NFL team without an NFL-caliber qb is some sort of abject failure akin to Urban going 2-12 before getting canned. BB went 16-16 during his first two seasons at NE. It's about what was expected, if not better given the situation. Same for Saban at Miami. Batting .500 in the NFL is not a huge failure in the NFL, especially if you're taking over a bad team that needs rebuilding. Miami's owner sure didn't see him as a failure and wanted him to stay. So did the fans.

As for "keeping it on the track," how do you think Bama got to this point where they're loaded with talent year after year? It sure wasn't like that when Saban took over in '07. This program didn't just magically become good and stocked with 5 star talent and all Saban has to do is keep it on the track.

I want to keep this stickied somehow. Michigan hasn't seen anything like UGA's defense, McNamara is going to get the business. I hope we see an absolute thrashing

So am I the only person who wanted Bama to run a train on cincy here and is totally disappointed?

Alabama has greater than a 2:1 advantage on offensive yards and is pretty close on first downs. I'm surprised people seem to be viewing this game as remotely competitive.

I don’t think it’s competitive. I wanted Bama to put up 70 on those chumps and humiliate them.

I’m becoming way too at peace with not watching the cfb title game and the super bowl,… odds I won’t watch either for the second year in a row are pretty high currently

I rarely watch the non Notre Dame playoff games. I do enjoy the NFL playoffs though. Skipped the 2nd half of this Bama game to watch the new season of Cobra Kai with my son.

Who does put his success on the same level as the top pro guys? I haven’t heard this but he’s undisputedly the greatest HC in CFB. Let’s not act like that’s a consolation prize.

He is def the greatest HC in college at the moment.
But if you look at his record over the last 25 years it is at least arguable that Urban is the better college coach over that stretch. Urban does not have any "average" seasons like Saban has at LSU, Toledo and MS.

UGA has seen one offense as good as Michigans. It was Bama and they got killed. UGA had a soft schedule.

What, and I cannot stress this enough, the hell are you talking about.

Urban has had three or more losses five times over the timeframe you're referring to. This is the laserest hot take I've seen in here in awhile.

Idk. We never played him in the playoffs so I dont think very good!

Saban STILL gripes about the whole Brees thing. :) What could've been. Imagine if they had cleared him. The Dolphins probably get a lot better a lot faster and Saban never returns to CFB.

Urban also beat Saban head to head more than 50% of the time including during Bama's dominant streak when Urb was rebuilding OSU.

I should not have said "hasnt had any average seasons".
But Saban has had no less than a whooping 7 seasons of 4 or more loses...while Urban has had just 2.

Huge ovation for Michigan when they won the coin toss. Michigan fans know there's 4 quarters and not just a coin toss, right?

UGA has seen one offense as good as Michigans. It was Bama and they got killed. UGA had a soft schedule.

FEI rates Georgia's SoS at 8th, and Michigan's at 16th. Arkansas (23rd), Auburn (25th), Kentucky (13th), Tennessee (5th), and 'Bama (2nd) all have good offenses. Georgia smothered all of them, except for 'Bama.

The best defenses that UM has faced were Wisconsin (1.24/ 3rd), Nebraska (.65/ 14th), Penn State (.91/ 8th), and Iowa (1.05/ 4th). They handled some, squeaked by others. But Georgia's defense is 1.78/ 1st. Statistically, it's the best defense since 2016 'Bama. Teams like that only lose to elite QBs throwing to future NFL WRs, which Michigan doesn't have.

If they find a way to run on the Dawgs, then all bets are off. But as things stand, odds are that UM will get euthanized like our last two playoff teams did.

You are really grasping at straws here.
