Bowl Scenario you prefer?

No, Buster. If a B1G team or PAC12 team is playing in the NCG, theres no obligation for the Rose Bowl to pick a team from that conference still. At least that's what I remember from the beginning of the season. I was hoping back in August that this team could maybe find a favorable matchup for a big BCS game, thought we needed a couple more years before testing a team like Alabama again. With OSU being a perceived candidate for the NCG, the Rose Bowl seemed like a likely fit.

Yeah I think Oregon is more likely to make the NCG than that school that the scumbag coaches (tStSBC...?). Now the PAC12 is more likely to place another team in the top 12-14 than the Big10. I think I remember something about if a second team from a conference is in the top 12 (or maybe 14) they take the conference slot, but maybe this is just how it is normally done and not a rule [or maybe not even that]. I'm sure someone else can give more insight into that.

Obviously I'd prefer a BCS bowl, but if the Pinstripe bowl actually happens I'd be pretty ecstatic. I'd throw all my money to see them play at Yankee Stadium.

Who cares about a bowl game right now, lets just hope that they can find a way beat AF.

Right now I'd love to get the second best SEC team in the sugar bowl. I've completely changed my mind on this. That conference is flat out not good right now save Alabama. All the teams have huge flaws that we'd matchup OK with. The only team that would scare me would actually be Georgia if they got healthy. To put it simply... if we're capable of getting past Stanford, who is better than every single SEC team not named Alabama, then we'd be capable of beating an SEC team in the Sugar Bowl. And that'd be a HUGE statement win.

I was thinking it'd be huge for recruiting in the south but I could be over valuing ND. I figured at this rate, itd be Mizzou.

Be careful what you wish for. I think LSU or A&M would destroy us. Don't know a lot about Mizzou but I suspect we would have a tough time with them, too. At this point we should pray that we get to play Louisville/UCF or even Ohio State.

We would have a hell of a time stopping A&M's offense, but their defense is awful. They may be the only other SEC team besides Alabama that I'd be real concerned with. We can play with everyone else if we play the way we are capable.

If we got into a BCS game, that would mean the team went on a serious run and won every game after OU. But I would only be comfortable with a BCS game if we play Texas Tech or an SEC team not named Alabama. If we had Golson, I think we would have a good chance to win against anyone

So was USC's....

We'd get SMOKED by A&M.

I don't want a BCS game this year. It would be embarrassing. Tommy woudl be a nightmare against Defenses like that because he can't move and our Oline isn't that good.

And nobody is afraid of our running game.

Add another huge loss to our BCS record, IMO

I'd rather play in a "2nd tier" bowl and avoid the bright lights of the BCS. That's all I"m saying.

Its either BCS or we're playing in worse than just a "2nd tier" bowl.

I'm not looking to go 9-3 and play some crappy AAC team in a bowl no one will care about. I'd rather go 10-2 and take our chances in the BCS.

Right, so that means we need to lose another game. So...who do you want to lose to?

Stanford. Go Cards! LOL.

I'm assuming that we drop another one. And if anyone thinks that we are a BCS caliber team, they're crazy.

Do you really think we can win a BCS game with Tommy and that Running game?

We're going to lose again. I'll bet VBucks on it if there are any takers. Let's just hope we don't lose a couple more times.

And I disagree...We lose to a tough Stanford team and then win in a bowl game? Trumps getting our heads kicked in, AGAIN, in a BCS game at this point in which we don't belong.

We've beaten 1 ranked team this year and they aren't even that good. If we don't beat stanford, we didn't beat anyone worth a **** this year.

We're not good enough. Hurts to hear the truth.

I generally agree but there's an outside chance Michigan State goes 10-2 or even 11-1 before the Big 10 championship game. Would end up being a great win.

Do you really think we can win a BCS game with Tommy and that Running game?

I just don't understand the mentality of "I want to lose to XYZ University so that we can play in a **** bowl and build momentum for next year because I'm scared of whoever we are going to play in a BCS bowl".

As I've posted before, bowl games are crap shoots, including BCS games and 4th tier bowl games. You really don't know what team is going to show up 3-4 weeks, and sometimes more, after their last game.

But, more importantly, I want to beat every team currently on our schedule. It's one thing to say, "I don't think we will finish 10-2 because I believe Stanford is better and will beat us", but I don't understand the "I want to lose to Stanford so we don't go to the BCS" mentality.

So, the question is, would you rather win out, finish 10-2 and take our chances in a BCS game OR hope the Irish lose one more, specifically to a rival like Stanford, and hopefully get a favorable matchup in the Pinstripe Bowl? I have no respect for people that are rooting for the latter.

As far as our chances in a BCS bowl go...we can play with anyone in the country, period. Historically, we haven't shown up in BCS bowls but that doesn't scare me. New year, new team. The past is a poor indicator of how this year's team will do.

Of the top 14 teams in the BCS right now...this is how I view our chances:

Alabama, Oregon, Florida State - we'd likely lose by multiple TDs.
#4-#14 - None of them scare me.

A&M is the only team outside of the top 14 that I'd be concerned about.

The other spot in the game is not contractually tied to any conference, and the Orange gets the first BCS pick after the conference champs have been assigned and replacement choices have been made. Louisville's loss on Friday greatly clarified the outlook on this position. Notre Dame, if it can win out or finish 9-3 and still be ranked in the top 14, would be the easy preference.

There is no question about it that we will lose another game, I just hope it's stanford and not PITT, NAVY, or BYU.

And I have no respect for kool-aid drinkers. You're outta your mind "We can play with anyone in the country"...No, not this year. Not with Tommy Rees at QB.

OSU, MIZZOU, BAYLOR (who would destroy us), CLEM, TTU...Are you outta your mind?

I just don't get it...

If we finish 9-3, all three losses coming to the only standout teams on our schedule....You guys honestly think we can "play with anyone"??

I just don't see it against the likes of those ranked in the top 10.
