Seriously. How is Notre Dame the lowest ranked 2 loss team it’s ridiculous. There is absolutely no reason Oregon should be ranked higher than Notre Dame. Same with Auburn. It’s complete shit. The only losses ND has is at #4 and at #13. Oregon lost to ASU who is not even ranked. Damn it.

No, but there is (was?) still a shot for us to make the Cotton with a Florida loss - which is not outside the realm of possibility. With so many teams still in front of us it’s hard to see how we could jump all the way to 10 now.

It's impossible, we haven't moved in weeks despite blowing teams out, including a solid Navy team. A win over Stanford, regardless of how impressive, is of little/no importance. It's time to resign ourselves to the Camping World Life.

Replace us with Arizona State and none of us would give a shit. The playoffs aren't a solution for #5-15. It's a solution for undefeated #3s.

Baylor jumped from #14 to #9 after beating a barely .500 Texas team? And last week Oklahoma only jumped one spot after beating a previously undefeated Baylor team?

I know the playoff committee's main goal is to get the top 4 right, but it isn't going to work if they continue to make dumb decisions like the one above. The committee's head scratching decisions make me miss the BCS more and more each week.

In general this has probably been one of the most boring seasons of college football. Lots of blow outs, very minimal upsets, etc. Hopefully this doesn’t become the new norm

This is a characterless sham that is pulled on season ticket buyers. Many who arent wealthy but find a lot of pleasure in supporting their teams. To scheduled terribad games like these schools do year in and year out is a sad joke. It is all in the name of more cupcake games = higher rankings = better bowl game = more $ for the university.

It is the poor fans that pay the price. Literally.

I expected to creep up to 14, maybe 13. They are really holding the loss to scUM against us big time. We need Wiscy, Auburn and scUM to lose to move up. Then hope OU beats Baylor and Utah beats Oregon the the conference title games. Won't hurt to roll Stanford by 30 either.

The playoffs are a net positive if the only goal is to crown an undisputed national champion. They're quite good at that. But who's-in/who's-out buildup has kind of overwhelmed everything else about college football, up to and including NY6 bowl games that used to matter quite a lot to the schools involved but are now seen as a crappy consolation prize for those 5 to 15s.

Is it bad if I don't think the old systems - the BCS, or even pre-BCS - were so bad? Sometimes the journey (the regular season) is more important than the destination (who's ultimately crowned national champion).

I agree with their rankings this week IRT Oklahoma and Baylor. I'm not sure if this was some form of correction or not.

That is the thing...this year I don't think we would unless Auburn wins Saturday and we were somehow paired up with 'Bama for the bowl game. This year is a great opportunity to get the NY6 bowl monkey off our back but doesn't look like it'll be in the cards.

Completely where I'm at. I know we've been playing inspired football the last 3 weeks but I don't trust this team against elite competition. Give me a 10 win regular season and Iowa St for a chance at 11 wins.

Honestly, it's 25+ years of underperforming on the big stage that has killed our reputation. Go back to the Holtz years and we always got the benefit of the doubt. We were usually the highest ranked one loss team, 2 loss team, etc... People used to complain, now we are on the other end of it.

I most agree, but I think its more accurate to say that our underperforming on the big stage gives the conference affiliates the excuse they need to give ND the shaft.

In other words, it's not really so much that they honestly think we deserve our ranking based on a completely objective comparison of our record vs. our peers, but more that they think they can get away with it based on the Michigan game.

Make the best of what you are dealt. The opportunity is to hopefully finish with 11 wins, have momentum to finish strong with this year's recruiting, and start the off season on positive note with eyes looking forward to 2020 season.

Very fair points. Either way we won't be playing that great of a team in the bowl. Certainly not calling for a parade, but if this is going to be the case then might as well get the no NY6 bowl wins in "X" amount of years and counting off the table... At some point, we need to win one of these to progress the program forward...and maybe the next time, when we are lined up against a 'Bama, Clemson, etc.., we won't be as shell shocked again. In theory anyways.

And yes, that is assuming we beat Memphis. Unfortunately, a "BK classic" is certainly not out of the realm of possibility. But I feel good about beating anyone we would be paired against...unless, as noted, that someone should lose to Auburn on Saturday.

I mean if that happens, it happens. I just don't think it actually will so I haven't given it much thought. Also it seems like when we do make a big bowl they pair us with the hardest opponent that didn't make the playoffs/BCS NCG so I would anticipate somehow playing Alabama or whoever.
