I have thought about this and waited to post until I settled down as not to sound like a nut. It is all good and fine to interview for other jobs, its his right. It does stink, even if he is only doing this to get $ and it maybe with the intentions of getting more for his staff, but the timing.... It stings because I cant imagine someone with the love and admiration that BK says he has for ND wanting to leave. The other concern I have is the possible negative impact on recruits.
What I have come to the conclusion is, I really don't know any details of what the **** is going on other than he apparently interviewed. I do know he hasn't left as of yet and we haven't lost any recruits as of yet, so I hold off from aggravating my ulcer and prevent some gray hairs if I just sit back and see what the hell happens.

As I said above, I think this will end soon in favor of the Irish.

But listening to Mike and Mike this morning, Greeney made the point that he believes Kelly IS interested in the job, based on the fact that BK just got ND to the NC for the first time in 20 years and he was going to get an extension anyways, so if he's interviewing just for leverage, he already had it.

I lost 90% of vbucks betting on the national championship but I am willing to bet all my vbucks I have left that he signs an extension before national signing day.

Lol we should make the odds of resigning astronomical, like 1000/1 so we all have a chance at regaining NC vbucks

Didn't read the entire thread, but the Eagles are interviewing about 10 guys. Some like Ariens from the Colts have a proven track record in the NFL which to me would be more important than collegiate experience.

Precisely.

As I said, I think BK is a great coach and love him at ND as much as anyone. However, I just don't think he's Philly's best option. I'm not worried a bit.

I'll no longer give a bad time to people like my mother-in-law that watch soap operas as I have come to the realization that as Notre Dame fans, we friggin live one.

Just my personal opinion I think Kelly would take the job if offered. However I cant see the Eagles actually offering BK the job.

We went thru this yesterday, if you aren't going to curl up in the fetal position and sob until this is resolved like the rest of us, GET THE **** OUT!

lol but I think people need to look at this rationally. Kelly is great in college because he knows how to build a program. That is not needed in the pros, plus he would not be given that much control. It is not like he would bring a decided schematic advantage to the Eagles.

if im kelly i sit down with jack and say get me in the top 5 on this list...or i'm gone. simple as that.

for the HFC at ND to be in the middle of the pack like that with guys like Butch Jones (that one has to **** kelly off), James Franklin, Brady Hoke, Gary Anderson, Todd Graham making in some cases 50% more than kelly is a joke.

ps didnt realize saban and mack brown were both 60.
figured brown was late 60s.
i guess winning keeps you young and losing makes you look old

My dream scenario:
1). Kelly feels that he is in a position to secure long term stability in the program for himself and for the assistant staff, but Swarbrick isn't forthcoming enough;
2). The "Eagles Situation" arises. Unlike the "Bears Situation" or others that were pre-NCG that we don't know about, it allows a tool to be used without interference with the NCG;
3). Kelly plans it directly after the NCG, because that is the least disruptive of any date that he can employ and still make the pressure work. It is precisely BECAUSE there are recruits hanging that Swarbrick is under tremendous pressure to break open the wallet;
4). Swarbrick, getting his butt roasted by several powerful alumni, finishes this sooner rather than later. Kelly gets the contract he wants, and assistants get a significant upgrade [Beamer did this a couple of times at VT for his assistants];
5). Kelly sweeps back into campus ASAP post-contract and begins mending fences with every player. As this involves personal contact, the young men understand and relax. Similar contacts occur with the undecideds still out there. Vanderdoes also "gets it" and ultimately signs;
6). Diaco and Martin like the raises and the chance to build a champion and stay on for several years. Negative recruiting out there fails due to ND success and the fact that no more substantial situations of this type re-occur;
7). Swarbrick hates Kelly's guts for embarrassing him, but gets over it when we win the NC. Till then, smiles at presscons are forced.

I have a Dream.....

He was going to get a raise without interviewing.

Can't lie, I hyped myself up being caught off guard despite deep down knowing its a leverage ploy. With that said, I think this will be positive for recruiting long term and very manageable short term.

BK can now say he interviewed and turned down the NFL. Kids will eat that up. Not all but a kid hearing that a top coach at a D1 program whose recruiting them was good enough for the NFL but he said no.

I've definitely slept it off as well. If this was just his agent starting rumors, and maybe a hi/bye type of phone call, then yeah, obviously it's just a negotiation tactic. Kirk Ferentz' agent is the master at it; maybe they share the same agent. But if we're talking a legit sit down interview, than yeah, I'm still pissed.

IMHO Coach Kelly will get a huge raise and stay, but I suppose anything can happen.

On a side note: I sent my boss a text this morning saying the Philadelphia Eagles spoke to me and are very interested. He LOL' ed and said he'd miss me.......why doesn't that $hit work for everyone?

This may just be the optimism in me but on the same day he interviewed the Eagles announced they are interviewing Lovie Smith today. Again the optimism, I think Lovie Smith may be their number one candidate. I love Kelly and he is no where near being an NFL Head Coach. His style would not work in the NFL. If he yelled one time at an NFL player like he did at College players he would be destroyed. I sure hope he does not leave.

I'd wish him well if he left and be thankful for providing a foundation for success. It's a business and right now it's none of ours. We are invested emotionally and will just have to be patient and wait for the facts to pan out in a few days.

My gut tells me all this panic ensuing will be for naught.
