What do those two scenarios have to do with one another?

Texas is the only team that can possibly make ND join a conference. No one else.

BYU is a much bigger program than most give credit for... they have belonged in the Power 5 pretty much from the start imo.

Some people from Cincinnati will be in attendance from what I was told.

I wasn't told whether "people" means "media" or "important admin," but I guess we'll know soon.

Aaaaand it appears they meant "media," in order to report on being shot down "for now."

Ya, the local Big12 talk is that there won't be expansion. Conference is run by a bunch of drangles.

Texas shot that down so Fertitta couldn't afford Herman. They get Herman and they let BYU, UConn, Cincy and UCF in next year.

Fertitta then starts back channeling with OU & OK St to go to the PAC with SDSU.

I heard that their TV partners were giving them more money to not expand.

I'd love for UCONN to join a power 5 conference. Damn BC for blocking the move to the ACC.

So it seems like Cincinnati and BYU were told they would likely be getting in, both schools got very excited, and then the Big 12 was like "lol jk. We'll stay with just 10...for right now."

Sounds like something the stupid Big 12 would do.

Cincinnati doesn't fit in the Big 12 anyways.

The other schools in consideration were Houston and Memphis. Who were also both hyped about the potential addition.

Buzz in some places. About Nebraska wanting to leave the 10 to go back to the 12.

Nebraska will never leave the stability of the B1G for the dysfunction of the the XII.

Would love to see the Arizona schools leave the PAC-12 for the XII once their GOR is up.

I was thinking more the Colorado schools. Just looking at it football wise. State is always decent i think would get a bump from joining and CU is back on the upswing then add U of H
and Cincy.

North
Colorado
Colorado St
OU
OKST
Cincy
West Virginia
Iowa State

South
Texas
TCU
KU
K State
Tech
Baylor
Houston

The Cross over Rivals games could be
OU vs Texas
Houton vs Cincy
Tech vs W Virginia
Baylor vs OKST
TCU vs Iowa State
KU vs Colorado St
K State vs Colorado

the Big 12 won't expand, if anything it will break up imo.

You could wind up seeing Texas in the B1G or Texas + Oklahoma in a Pac-14

Yeah, I think they are done within the next 10 years. They just don't have the selling points of any of the other four conferences.

The ACC has the eastern seaboard media markets, top notch basketball, and better football draws as of late. The Big Ten has the legacy and the ratings and the $$. The SEC has the $$ because of football. And the PAC12 has to exist for the west coast.

I think they will be eventually consumed by the other big conferences. Obviously Texas and OU will be fine. Outside of that I'm not sure since this is so football driven. I think KU will be fine and wind up in the Big 10 (been rumored before) b/c of hoops, and that would make a crazy good hoops league. The worrisome thing is how many of the "little brothers" get hooked to the big ones meaning will Texas have to bring some of Tech/Baylor/TCU. Or OU/Okie St. and KU w/ KSU.

It will be interesting, but I think some of the little bros who don't have good football could get left in the cold. Just hope it's not KU. Hoping the hoops brand is big enough to get them in the BIG 10 or ACC even. The rumors in all the craziness have been positive for KU but I don't want any of the teams to get hosed. Really wish it wasn't such a cluster to begin w/ and they had kept all the schools that made sense....A&M/Colorado/MU/Nebraska plus two more to get to 16 would be a great midwestern power conference.

Here is an interesting scenario. With the Big 12 deciding not to expand and not having a championship game at the end of season, what if they cut a deal with Notre Dame? No matter what ND record is , the Big 12 champion plays ND at end of season for the 13th data point they both could use. I know ND has an affiliation with ACC in some of our bigger programs but football remains an Independent, therefore they can do what they want, when they want and how they want. It makes sense to me and could easily be a deciding factor with Big 12 and ND making the playoffs in an up year.

I really dislike this era of cfb... give me the pre BCS regional era of cfb anyday... it was far more interesting.

The Big 12 will still be having a championship game moving forward

So the Big 12 is going to throw another obstacle in the way of their champion making the Final 4?

ND can't make the playoffs with 3-5 Tier 1 programs on their schedule each year... and you want to add another one?

Yep your right my bad. Thanks for the correction. But it would be a more attractive game nationally than them playing within their own conference for the championship

It was UofH and BYU, actually.
