Honestly... I think the run away coaching salary arms race (along with the construction of player specific dorms, new facilities, etc.) is a major issue that has been part of the build up to this crossroads we are at with CFB...
They are out of control, but I don't begrudge them for getting it if they can. Same with stockholders. They've invested their money and are taking some risk. CEO salaries are way out of control and have been forever.

The problem is everything is about profits. I know I know, a business is about making money. I completely agree with that. The issue is, everything is about squeezing more money out of the business every quarter so the shareholders can get more back than before. And so, we have companies being disappointed when they increase their numbers, but it isn't ENOUGH for those darn shareholders.

It just feels it's no longer about having a successful business that provides a proper good or service, but rather how can we make record amounts all the time so brass get all the dollars. See what has been going on at Boeing. See these food companies making record profits because they are charging so much more, outpacing inflation.

Joe's losing ground in 4 out of the 5 battleground states. Also trending down with younger voters and blacks.

Prediction sure to go wrong: I’ll triple down and predict he won’t be the nominee when all is said & done.

Right. I don’t recall HC salaries being an issue in the 80s-90s. Curious when it all began but I suspect it coincided w/ conference-tv deals. That seems to be when the money started rolling in for all P5 schools and led us to where we are today.

TBH, this isn't something new. I can remember people complaining about companies making too much money, price gouging, poor service and Executives making too much money fifty years ago.

This is mind boggling. Hard to imagine they are worth that much. Highest-Paid CEOs | AFL-CIO

I have read that one before. Truly disgusting. But at least 50 years ago in the *gulp* 70s (somehow the 70s aren't just 20 some years ago like I've always remembered) the ratio of CEO to average worker was something like 20:1... now it's around 366:1.

These companies want to talk about money, and layoffs, and cuts, and dismay in performance, but they continue to shell out millions to CEOs and shareholders, while the average workers' pay has risen only 18% since 1978 (compared to 1460% for CEOs in the same time period).

I get the Netflixes and Warner Bros of the world on the list… the banks make me cringe… but the healthcare and needle pushers being on the list is infuriating.

Where are you getting the 18% since 1978?

The AFL-CIO link said that over the last decade the average worker's pay has increased from 46,440 to 61,900. Roughly a 33% increase over the last 10 years.

The polls have been slanted towards Dems for years, and now some of these left leaning polling groups are finding a way to get their polls in to records 4 DIFFERENT polling results from ONE poll. NYT and IPSOS (ABC News) will both have 4 submissions of the same poll. So, 8 polling results for two trash polls

Therefore, when you see the polls beginning to show Biden in the lead in the coming months that is why.

What's the latest thoughts on the debate settings? It sounds favorable for Joe, his team wants no crowd, Trump's mic turned off when it's not his turn to speak, CNN moderates, etc. I can't argue that Trump's mic being turned off isn't the right move, he loves to interject, although most politicians abuse it at least once or twice in most debates.

I think that's perfectly fine. Donald legit ruined their first debate last time. I don't see much value in a crowd either. The crowd is at home watching on TV.

Biden didn't demand CNN either. I think he's in damage control. The timing makes me wonder if his people are looking for a way out of running again this fall

I think the crowd played to Trump's favor when he was debating Hillary and hitting her with the one line retorts. He's not as quick as he was 8 years ago though...damn...it's been that long. Looking forward to both of these guys being out of politics.

Biden has too much ego, and his advisors want too badly to stay in power, that's why he hasn't dropped out. It's absurd. No different than Diane Feinstein refusing to retire even though she was practically disabled by the end.

While Joe is talking and Trump's mic off, I can see Trump walking over to Joe to argue so his mic picks him up.

Now that they have agreed to debate, I think this shows pretty clearly that Joe will be the Dems candidate.

As someone voting for Trump I hope he learned his lesson from 2020 and just shuts his mouth and lets Joe babble. But he won’t…

I do find it very funny that both sides have taken the position that this election is basically life or death....and these are the two candidates presented as options.

Honestly in terms of "consequence" this election feels like the least consequential in a long time. Like both are only going to be around for 4 years, probably going to die in 5-7 years (no lingering impact), and policy-wise what are you really getting? Tax cut? More rainbow flags at schools?

Judicial nominations are the big thing that comes to mind.

Most of my friends & family strictly vote based on that since both candidates suck. After RBG’s selfishness, I think her former colleagues saw the light. The ones getting on in age will either retire or stay on based on who gets elected POTUS.
