Think about it. Not only is it possible it's happening. Not saying it's right as it's is pretty subjective based on voter bias, but it is what it is I guess. It's a good conference to be sure. Probably gets more credit that is deserved top to bottom, but some of those teams can ball. Can they be beaten though???? Hell yes. I'd put ND against ANY of them, including Bear's Boys. In fact, I think our D would give Bama fits all night long.

Oh well, time will tell. Let it play out and see where we fall.

So who gets squeezed out of the top ten if Bama loses this weekend; because you KNOW that Bama won't fall out of the Top Five and LSU will jump someone. Probably us, particularly if USC gets demolished by Oregon.

Have not hated the SEC this much in a LONG time.

Kinda feels good! :D

Things never change in the SEC.

Florida beat LSU, who beat South Carolina, who beat Georgia, who beat Florida, who also beat A&M, who beat... no one, just like Mississippi St. So since these teams have all beaten each other, they all have quality wins against top-ten opponents! And the ones who don't (A&M and Miss St) have only lost to those top-ten teams! WHAT AN AMAZING CONFERENCE FULL OF POWER TEAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never mind the fact that not one of those ranked teams have a decent OOC victory. Never mind the fact that Kentucky, Auburn, Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss [combined 7-29 conference record] range from terribly mediocre to just plain terrible.

True and every one of those teams except Kentucky and Vandy have played and lost HORRIBLY to Alabama, which must mean that Alabama is the MOST impressive team in the land...despite playing NOBODY from the East and getting a VERY weak LSU team to play this week, an overrated Aggies team before two layup against Western Carolina and Auburn to end the season. REALLY need LSU to pull off a major upset, although it will only mean that the Tiger jump us after this week, if Oregon just blasts USC.

Of course, with my sister living in Tuscaloosa with her husband, if ND is playing AL in the BCS title game, there will be some major tension in the family, that is for sure.

But that is CFB for you!! :)

Edit: And my sister went to Auburn so I have NO idea what their household was like in 2010 around Thanksgiving, but it could not have been comfortable, haha

BCS guru Brad Edwards says Notre Dame has the least chance of making the title game of the four unbeatens, assuming all four stay unbeaten.

I'm trying very hard to stay unbiased here, but this makes zero sense to me. If it really comes down to it, you almost have to believe money and national relevance wins out. Sorry Kstate and Oregon fans, but a ND/Bama showdown would be epic and everyone knows it.

That means we need the coaches and AP pollsters on our side. Who's got connections?

For the remaining part of the season, we have the weakest SOS. That makes it harder for us to jump KSU and Oregon in the polls.

One can only hope OKST, USC, and LSU take care of business next week.

If Oregon lights up USC, Stanford, Oregon State there is 0 chance we leap them. Computers and voters decide the title game, money decides the rest of the bowls.

Understood. I'm just having a hard time accepting the fact that ND could run the table and miss the NC game. Especially when in the preseason we were projecting 7-9 wins tops. If you told me then that ND would win out and miss the title game, I would've pissed myself laughing.

See I'm not so sure we should be cheering for LSU. If they win Alabama probably just falls to #3 and we'll get bumped back while LSU jumps up to #2 probably. Whereas if Alabama wins that eliminates one team from the discussion, LSU winning just adds another team to the discussion. I think becoming major Oklahoma State and (puke) USC fans for a week is a more sensible approach. Of course all three losing would be nice but if I was I could only pick two to lose I'm taking Oregon and Kansas State. That moves us into #2 and our destiny is in our own hands. Alabama losing while the other two win does nothing to put destiny in our hands.

I don't think a one loss team will jump any of the undefeated teams. Human voters would not do that.

I'm not so sure because the SEC bias is so strong in CFB right now that I put nothing past anyone so long as it helps the SEC. I mean I live in SEC country dude the delusion here is STRONG. Just last night I had to argue with some UGA homer who thinks that Notre Dame would lose to Kentucky and Vanderbilt! It would be one thing if it was the first time I heard such thing but I hear something like that (well perhaps a little less ridiculous) fairly regularly over over the past 5 years living in the SEC/Bible Belt. My Assistant Warden is a huge Alabama fan and he thinks that beating Auburn and Ole Miss should be quality wins because they are SEC teams.

It's insane that we have the "least" chance and that not only do we not play FCS schools...but we could potentially, depends on USC and OU, will have beaten the Big10, Big12, and Pac12 champs all in the same year.

Beating both Mich schools, USC, and OU in the same season??

Oh....and we still have to win all of ours. Let's not forget that.

Do i have to root for the Trojans this weekend? I mean, it's for the greater good, is it not?

Brad Edwards was talking about perception right now. What ND really needs is to dominate and gain some style points with the voters over the next few weeks. Couple that with Oregon possibly struggling or barely winning a couple of their remaining games and the voters can be swayed. if ND shows over the next few weeks that they do in fact have an offensive identity to go along with an elite defensive, then they will begin stealing more and more votes each week.

There is more pressure on Oregon than anyone else in my opinion. ND has proven to win their big games and beat the Sooners convincingly, while Oregon is just beginning the more difficult portion of their schedule.

It's doubtful that Michigan, OU, and USC win their conferences this year. The problem is that any other year, beating both MSU and UM would be huge. But both teams, especially MSU, are killing us with their underachieving. The B1G sucks this year, and ND is hurting because of it.

I'm probably going to the LSU/Bama game....So yeah, I'll be cheering for the Tigers. (My pops and his wife, LSU grad, have season seats)

Otherwise, you'll get boubon bottles thrown at your head.

The players on the field can acutally SMELL the booze.

I think UM actually does win the Big10. It's the other two that probably won't happen.

Either way, we need them to all finish strong.

And doesn't MSU ALWAYS underachieve? LOL

Oregon has a tough row to hoe. K-State worries me more to run the table. Then I hope for the SEC to eat itself alive. I have to say I would have ND on the outside looking in if Bama, K-State and ND are the only unbeatens at year end. If Oregon runs it as well we have to be looking at a split title year.

The SEC bias is so strong it is ridiculous.

Alabama has THREE teams on their schedule that are a COMBINED 0-15 in SEC play!! (Mizzou, Tenn and Auburn) and yet there are FAR and AWAY the BEST team in the land? Their last four games are against teams that are a combined 16-17.

And still ESPN/SEC bias will not let the SEC be shut out of the BCS title game. That much is certain.

The BCS is just shameful.

The Oregon vs ND decision will come down to how Oregon looks against USC and Stanford and, obviously, how we do against USC. In that I kind of like our odds, though if the Ducks romp it'll be hard to argue against them.
To me, K-State - who's already won their biggest games - and the likelihood of 'Bama winning out are the biggest hurdles for us.

By the way, how awesome would it be if there's 4 undefeateds and the big bowls just say "Screw the BCS, let's hold a playoff."

As I said before. The hype machine will start rolling over the next four weeks. Remember when Urban campaigned his 1-loss team in the title game? Well, we have a politician in Kelly and Notre Dame will start swinging their muscle as these weeks carry on. We will campaign for our spot and get it. The numbers don't lie and that message will only get stronger over the next few weeks.

All of these hypothetical "If ____ beats ____ , then we will go to the title game" mallarky is silly to debate. None of you know how this will play out with "who beats who". Just enjoy the ride. If we take care of business, we will find a seat at the table.

What we need to do as fans is do the same. Talk to people about our SoS. Talk to people about having the most wins over top 25 teams. Talk about having two road wins against top 10 teams. Talk about having two like opponents with KSU (Miami & OU) and how we crushed them. Start spreading the word, because this is indeed a campaign.

I agree with this. ND just needs to keep winning. The odds are someone is going to lose and there won't be 4 undefeated at the end anyway.
