It's interesting, if I had to choose an opponent for ND to face in the BCS Championship I would have to say Bama or K-state. I think we match up especially well against any SEC team. I think Oregon would be the toughest challenge.

But of course, more importantly we still have a regular season to finish off.

Funny but I said the same thing to some SEC homers last night and they half assed agreed. Notre Dame is playing that style that the SEC plays

Not a dumb question, look at the schedules. They compare well.

K State ND
@OK 24-19 @OK 30-13
Same opponent, same atmosphere. We look better here.
vs. Miami 52-13 vs. Miami 41-3
They had Miami at home, we, at a home based neutral field. Still look better.
@13 WVa 55-14 @ 10 MSU 20-3
ND looks better, both road games. MSU ranked higher. WVa had a weak schedule.
vs. 14 TTech 55-24 vs. 17 Stanford 20-13
Toss up. Maybe leaning towards KState
@ IowaST 27-21 vs. 18 UM 20-3
Obviously our win is better here.
vs. Kansas 56-16 vs. BYU 17-14
BYU is the tougher opponent here, by far.
vs. N Texas 35-21 vs. Purdue 20-17
I think this is the first year N Texas is in the FBS...
vs. Missouri St. 51-9 vs. Navy 50-10
Yeah, Missouri St. shouldn't even count.

Looking at it... We look better. Looking at the last four games, 3 out of the 4, their opponents look better (assuming we both win out.) They do have the Big12 championship game though. Based on what we've seen, I think we should be ranked ahead of them for now. Maybe not down the road.

Wow, forgot to click the "view first unread." My bad, not deleting it though.

No championship game for the conference anymore.

I think Riddicks last TD propelled us to jump KU and the human polls have been waiting for a win like this by ND to prove that they belong in the big picture.

I wouldn't bet on leaping KSU.

KSU is a good football team who has pretty well handled their schedule. I don't think anyone (who doesn't love blue & gold) is going to look at the scoreboard and think ND handled OU much better than they did. The same with Miami. The Big 10 opponents aren't boosting the SoS much like we hoped. Also, Collin Klein is a bad bad man. They aren't shabby.

Oregon has played a Jr. High schedule and should be leaped and ignored completely. OSU and USC losing yesterday help that cause. I would like to see the Irish get a chance at Bama, but who is going to beat KSU?????

I'd love to play KSU. Watched them play yesterday and thought the entire time how bad we could beat those kids. Not impressed.

Our future rests in the hands of USC. If they beat Oregon next week, they remain highly ranked...which 1: drops oregon, 2: helps our SOS, and 3: if we beat them makes us #1 or #2 with no questions asked.

I see no logical reason to be ranked anything lower than #2...especially considering KSU and Oregon's schedules compared to ours and our impressive victories compared to theirs. Even Bama's schedule hasn't been as impressive as ours.

The only excuse for Oregon is their high powered offense....but why can't a team get credit for their high powered defense?? ND is the defensive equivalent to Oregon's O.

Just my opinion, but I truly think we should be #2 today.

What an utter joke this poll is. Coaches poll too. We're about to get screwed here... I can feel it. There is NO WAY that you can rank KSU above us right now. Oregon also has yet to play single ranked team. Ridiculous.

This voting is all on bullsh*t perception and not resume.

If we win out and beat USC. I think the computers will take care of themselves.

Bama, KSU and any Pac-12 school is going to have to get past a Conference Title game as well. Which is going to be an extra, unscheduled tough game that we don't have to deal with.

I have a feeling that ND will fall a few spots in the ranks over these next few weeks. This whole poll system is a joke.

KSU, Oregon, LSU, WVU, Miss State are all over rated by as much as 5 spots in some cases. WVU and LSU are not even complete teams unless you put them together. What a crock.

Not KSU. Which is a problem since they are on the downhill now. USC upticking could help us jump them late.

Supposedly, there is no Big 12 title game. It was news to me as well.

Can we just move the playoff systems up to this year. Who wouldn't want to see Bama vs. ND.... and Oregon vs. KSU. I know this will never happen but can anyone think of a good reason why??

We will be fine. Time to not just win, but show we can move the ball and score on offense the next 3 weeks. Big wins against Pitt, BC, and WF and I think we can jump Oregon and KState. They get credit for blowing out bad teams now its our turn.

We just need to keep winning. Everything else will play itself out. Who will KSU most likely play in the BIG 12 championship? Also, I like Georgia's chances if they play Bama in the SEC championship

Does Big 12 even have a championship game?

From 2009 through 2013, the game was scheduled to be played at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.[2] During June 2010, however, Nebraska and Colorado announced that they would leave the Big 12 for other conferences in 2011. Because NCAA rules required that a conference have twelve members in order to stage a football championship game, the conference did not hold a championship game for the 2011 season. Oklahoma and Texas have expressed that a conference title game hurts the chances of the conference to have a representative in the BCS National Championship Game.[3] The two schools have appeared in all but two Championship games, and account for 10 of the 15 Big 12 Championships held, with Oklahoma and Texas each having 7 and 3 respectively.

Big 12 Championship Game - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

No dice. The best hope with KSU is that a weak schedule from here out lets them get passed by. They do look good though.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves but if ND wins out (USC scares me with their receivers) and say Alabama and KSU do as well, then I see no way ND is not in the championship game. ND would be a huge story and let's be serious KSU won't bring as many people to the game. The storyline of ND would be too great for college football and having Alabama vs ND would be potentially one of the biggest NCGs in the last 20 years history wise. Now if Oregon continues to win out and their offense continues to dominate thats when a problem will likely happen for ND. At that point I see Alabama-Oregon championship and KSU- ND fiesta. That is basically 2 championship games and will cause a bunch of controversy. That situation could cause problems especially if one of the teams gets destroyed but I guess that's why there will be a playoff soon enough.

Don't be so sure. I like our team a lot, but KSU very often fails the "eye test." They win ugly a lot of the time. But, they keep winning. Bill Snyder, in my opinion, might be the best coach in CFB.

Note...I'm not saying we'd lose. But KSU is good.
