Odds of winning the title: Oregon 6/5, KSU 7/5, ND 6/1, Bama 6/1

I never quite understood that kind of stuff.

What does that mean? That UO has the best odds? I find that highly unlikely, to be honest. No way they run through that gauntlet undefeated. But if they do, I think they would be deserving of #1.

Just look at last year when LSU had to play Bama 2x. Bama shut them out. Not saying that USC does that, but I think that you have to give USC a good shot of knocking off the Ducks if they get a second crack at them. I mean, they scored at will against them. IF Kiffin's dad can slow them down at all, Trojans might be able to knock them off...IF the Beavers do not do it first.

Amen, brotha.

Looking at the schedules for BCS teams #4-#9 (yeah, all 6 are SEC teams) is just sickening. Each team has 2-3 legitimate games the whole year and every one of them has dropped at least 1 of those, and 3 of the 6 have dropped two of those. Hmmm...

Mississippi St. played NO ONE for the first 7 games of the season (4 FCS or non-AQ opponents along with Tennessee, Kentucky, and Auburn [combined record of 7-23 ... 0-20 in SEC play]) and cruised its way to the #11 spot before playing 3 decent teams in Alabama, Texas A&M, and LSU and all three of those teams get praise for beating a ranked Miss. St. team.

I never really realized it before, and I'm not sure if it's more apparent than ever or if I'm just paying more attention, but it's absolutely disgusting. I would love to see ANY SEC team play our schedule. I'm not saying that that they aren't good, but to have them at #4-#9 is outright ridiculous. Someone has to put a stop to this...

If the SEC schools played our schedule, there would be gridlock at the top of the polls with 10 undefeated SEC teams

Unfortunately, if ND, KSU & OU win out , we'll get shafted. But there is light at the end of the tunnel. Stanford opens the door for us this weekend.

I've listened to you complain about Georgia fans all year and never really thought anything of it ... I am listening now. After hearing Pollack last night say that anyone in top ten would beat ND, I am listening.
And the thing is Pollack isn't making this up on his own, the majority of the UGA fanbase truly believes this! They've beaten nobody all year and squeaked by Florida and you would think they've won the Super Bowl or something. I would LOVE to play UGA in a bowl game be it the NCG or the Sugar Bowl I would LOVE nothing more than to beat UGA in a bowl game.

Quote is from another thread, but pertains to rankings.

Especially if we are going to keep things vanilla on offense in preparation for the USC game, like has been suggested several places. I can see a very similar game plan to BC implemented. At this point though, style points are almost meaningless, as no matter how we win the next two we still need help to get to the championship game. Just win.

Agreed! Everyone talks about style points at this point of the season, even if we were to put up a 50-0 score against Pitt, BC and Wake it wouldn't matter because of the caliber of teams they are. Our style points came in the beginning of the year when we went and beat a higher ranked MSU team, and then a team that has made it their job to embarrass us in the 4th for the last 3 years, and we beat a Miami team that was going to have elite speed and test our secondary, and then a 'highly toughted Standford team' that was going to come into South Bend and handle us, and then OKLA at OKLA, where no one but Lou Holtz picked us (Out of the media) to come out on top. The fact that we were ranked lower than Kstate and Oregon preseason is the only reason why we are 3rd and they are 1 and two. Kstate doesn't have the same caliber wins, close, but not the same caliber. By the end of the season Oregon would probably jump us with the scores they put up, but if the rankings actually game out in week 5 or 6 we would be in much better shape in the BCS standing. These preseason 1st and 2nd week rankings only leave legit teams like the irish this year and Auburn a few years back get left out of the NC, just because of what people expect these teams to be like, instead of actually evaluating a span of games.

I honestly can't see Kstate and Oregon both winning out. Brad Edwards and ESPN talks like it hurts the Irish with not playing in a conference championship game and only helps Kstate and Oregon. I'm not sure how with them being #1 and #2, how an extra game helps them at all. We get an extra week to heal from injuries (DD) and rest, while Oregon has to still play another game that could potentially end in a loss. I mean the conference championship game is played by the two best teams in the conference, so it's not as if Oregon is playing some FCS school, they are still going to have to go out and compete to beat whoever it is they play. I like where we sit and I think it looks even more likely we end up getting in the NC. We have one tough game left, Kstate has 2, Oregon has 3.

As pissed off as I'd be if we didn't get into the NCG, it'd be nice to play a Bama, Florida, or Georgia and just put the smack down on them. Just crush them.

What is absolutely ridiculous is I think we would get more respect if we did this in a BCS game, than if we beat Ore or KSU in NC. Bullsh**.

if ND, KSU and Oregon shut the SEC out of the BCS then you know it will be dubbed "Not the real BCS game". And then if say Alabama beats a crappy Big10 team or whatever in the sugar bowl they will all be crowing for "Co-Champion" status and all that crap.

On the flip side if Bama loses whatever game they play in everyone will say well they didn't have anything to play for and doesn't really count because it wasn't the NCG like when they lost to Utah.

LOL....Probably true.

Golic did a nice job of providing counter points why the Irish should be in the top 2. Musberger didn't have a good reply after he mentioned OU's offense and Golic mentioned they don't play defense.

Can you post the link?

On the flip side, I went to the 2010 CapOne bowl, and Alabama certainly showed up for that one...Sparty looked like a Jr. High team.

Oh if Alabama wins out and wins the Sugar Bowl they WILL claim a NC. Hell even if they lose the Sugar Bowl they STILL might claim a NC. It is Alabama after all.

Solid article someone posted on FB.. Goes into detail about the double standard and SEC bias.

Why SEC Isn't As Great In Football As You Think | ThePostGame

That article is BRILLIANT! I just wish it would get major push around the media market to uncover the flaws and biased nature of ESPN and the BCS. By manipulating the system in favor of the SEC, the SEC is seen as the dominant conference. But it is all perception. Reality proves this is all a sham and needs to be dealt with.

The problem is you have 'experts' on ESPN saying Oregon and KSU are so much better than ND in reality and on paper(yes, they said that)... That Notre Dame just can't compare... At all...

Sorry when the echo chamber starts with that minds get filled with it and perception is reality, at leastin the polls.

And yeah, the preseason polls really hurt.

This was when Golic was up in the booth with Herbie and Musterdler during the BC game. I'm sure if you have the game taped or find a replay of the game you can fast forward to the beginning of the second half when Golic was up in the booth.

Thanks Keelio

Watching ESPNU today makes me want to vomit... this sh*t is bordering on a conspiracy. At best, this is the worst case of group think I have ever seen and ND is getting hurt by how many eye balls see us "struggle" versus how many watched KSU need a 4th and goal stop to beat Iowa State. Anyways... here are some odds for the weekend.

KSU: 78%
Oregon: 91.5%
ND: 94%

So shockingly KSU has a MUCH greater chance of losing to lowly 4-5 Baylor per Vegas than Oregon does of losing to Stanford....

Odds of either Oregon or KSU losing = 29%... so we have a puncher's chance of seeing one of them go down.

That's only because ND beat Stanford, so Stanford can't be that good.

If we would've beat Baylor instead of Stanford, those percentages would be flipped.

Gary Danielson who commentates SEC games with Verne Lunquivst (sp) was on the Dan Patrick show today and said that he would leave ND out of his top 4 if there was a playoff this year. Some of the **** i'm reading and hearing doesn't make any ****ing sense.
