The company I work for has an office in Waco. They've been on a waiting list for season tickets for a while and said it would be 2-3 years before they became available. A couple of weeks ago they got a call saying season tickets were now available. It looks like recruits aren't the only ones bailing.

Can't imagine how that gameday scene will be this season compared to the past few. They're done for a while. If A&M stumbles, UT will be in a position to recapture the State.

Baylor has 69 scholarship players as it stands.

Kudos, dublinirish.

Baylor is down sixteen scholarships from eighty-five. They have thirteen Seniors and nine Redshirt Seniors.
Of the RS Seniors, they may lose KD Cannon to the NFL and Chris Johnson, QB is not listed on their two deep.

Subtract those two with the loss of the thirteen Seniors, Baylor would need thirty-one in the Class of 2017 - without further attrition. They currently have one verbal commit for the Class.

OUCH, fatal blow a la SMU? They need a coach to salvage that ship.

I think conference still yet to way in, besides NCAA.

they have practically imposed a death penalty on themselves by allowing all those 2016 kid's releases. It's gonna set a precident really, next time a coach jumps ship after NSD you are gonna see other kids wanna do the same..

This has a lot more to do than just a coach being gone. You won't see schools letting kids out of their NLI just because a coach leaves as a result of what's going on here.

they all gave the reason though that because Briles got canned they deserved to be released. Nobody mentioned the sexual abuse scandals or the fact the administration of the university was crooked.

No they didn't, but Baylor really had no choice but to let them out. Not allowing them out would have simply been pouring more gas on the dumpster fire. Baylor doesn't need anymore bad publicity right now.

247 has Baylor in "Warm" category with only ten recruits (nine have offers). Many of those targets have favorites ("Warmer") above Baylor. CBs for those recruits all indicate those ten will go elsewhere. Only one prospect has Baylor in his top three.

All other targets are "Cool"

Baylor has 99 Offers out with 51 of those already committing to other schools. Baylor has relied almost exclusively on Texas recruits - 28 of their 32 enrollees from the last two classes. Among Texas recruits (52) currently offered, they may go 0 for Texas.

AD jumps ship at troubled Missouri, increasing the challenge for Barry Odom

Dan Wolken, USA TODAY Sports 6:53 p.m. EDT July 13, 2016

Hoover, AL ...Missouri’s biggest contribution to the SEC is in the off-field drama department. There seems to be an endless supply; enough that its athletics director decided Wednesday after 15 months on the job he’d rather give it a go at Baylor of all places.

Roughly an hour before first-year Missouri coach Barry Odom was set to make his debut here at SEC Media Days, USA TODAY Sports reported that Mack Rhoades, the man who hired him last December, had accepted the athletics director job at Baylor.

...

The same Baylor that just fired everyone — president, athletics director, football coach — after an investigation into how the school handled sexual assault complaints involving athletes. The same Baylor whose football program is going to lose two years of recruiting when the next coach comes in, setting it up for a significant fall from the national contender status it has grown accustomed to over the last few years. The same Baylor that is going to face years' worth of lawsuits, potential donor issues, enrollment struggles and potentially involvement from the Big 12 and NCAA.

...

The rest of the story is about Mizzou's multiple problems.

Man...how bad is your job that you sit back and go "Hey, that Baylor job sure seems waaaay better that what I gots here"?

I don't know. Taking the Baylor job as an AD right now could be a pretty good gig. You can't make things any worse and if you do anything positive you will be looked at as a hero and then the sky is the limit.

Two main thoughts-

1). With all these transfers/ recruiting defections, I am curious as to what kind of team Baylor produces this year, will they will hold open tryouts?
I mean, you have to practice against someone right? You don't want your 1's v 1's and risk injuring your already depleted team.

2). I wonder how the NCAA is going to play this one out. Do they reduce scolly's as a form of punishment on an already thin team, or do they use or find other punishment avenues, i.e financial, community service, donations, bowl bans (I'm sure this one will be added regardless).

It's going to be interesting to see how all this plays out.

They deserve the death penalty. Let that big stadium sit empty for a few years. Going forward, donors will be more prudent in their decision to donate which in turn should get the administrators to do their jobs correctly.

Wow, I've never been a hater of Baylor but all of the stories coming out have made me one.

I hope this program is reduced to rubble and their joy turns to ashes in their mouth. I think a couple decades of irrelevance and monster lawsuits in favor of the sexually assaulted should do the trick. It doesn't restore order but it'll be a sliver of justice.

Good review of Baylor's prospects in 2016 and beyond.
Baylor will play football in 2016. Guess we should talk about that.

Baylor 2016 depth chart
(for an idea about depth and 2017)

But next year...As posted above, they'd need 31 signees for the 2017 class to get to 85. They have two commits. But will have scholarship penalties. Only one of the "Wishlist" prospects in this article is still considering Baylor - Omar Manning - but will probably go elsewhere. Only one of the Baylor Targets in 247 with an offer is a possible signees - Joshua Roberts, DT. Baylor 2017 Football Offers (101)

Fifteen signees for 2017 keeps them at 69 scholarship players, barring any attrition.

The Big 12 has asked Baylor for specifics to see if Baylor has violated conference rules, but Baylor has lawsuits to consider - and the NCAA. If I'm the NCAA, I'd take Baylor's self-imposed penalties and waive transfer rules for existing players.

Hey, gang!

Baylor is a religious school.

In 1841, 35 delegates to the Union Baptist Association meeting accepted the suggestion of Reverend William Milton Tryon and District Judge R.E.B. Baylor to establish a Baptist university in Texas.
. . .

Baylor University is a private Christian university and a nationally ranked liberal arts institution. Our rank of alumni include missionaries and pastors, heads of Fortune 500 companies, governors of Texas and professional athletes. Chartered in 1845 by the Republic of Texas through the efforts of Baptist pioneers, Baylor is the oldest continually operating university in the state.

I mean, just think about this!
