Bishop has been banned for a week. Trying to use good faith. He has repeatedly brought politics and the trans discussion into the Olympics thread.

Good. Wish you would ban more people for this. When all you have to add in a thread about one of the greatest sporting events that occur is your F’ing agenda, then you need to get a life. So tired of people injecting their political agendas into everything. They’re usually the most miserable people I interact with on a daily basis.

It’s like everything else only some much time available. I think the admins do a good job round here and give people enough opportunities to do right.

Unfortunately we are at a new style politics than what I saw growing up. So some people don’t know any better.

I remember when debates and ads were what that politician was going to do and not bash the other candidate.

It's not a huge surprise, as far as I know it's what almost always happens when these are the rules.

I won't be saying anything else about this matter except to note that this is a major issue in sports and certainly worth discussing on a sports forum. And if it happens at the Olympics, it's worth discussing in the Olympic thread, imo.

I missed the discussion, but if Bishop's point was that two men shouldn't be boxing each other for the Women's Olympic gold medal...he's not wrong. It's ridiculous that two women will be left off the podium and had their Olympic dreams crushed over some mediocre men that decided they wanted to play pretend.

Bishop wasn't banned for his opinion, he was banned because he wouldn't shut up about it despite Beau cleaning up the thread and telling everyone to knock it off more than once.

Personally I enjoy all the posters here unless they are just curmudgeons. I consider you all my online Irish family. But lines have to be drawn and we don't really need people using threads for the discussion on the Olympics to share a specific viewpoint. If you want to be safe maybe just keep to the politics threads? I don't venture there but also keep in mind that that is not just a free for all either.

In all seriousness, there has been some more negativity around here since NIU, predictably so, but isn't it amazing how much more harmonious the board is when it's just simple discussion and not trolling? There are flaws on this football team, but we don't have them beating a dead horse
