From Koon:

" Post 1818 tussin made a bet that I'd create an account to get through the next 6 months. Tell him I'll take him up on that bet, but I want to up it to 1 billion. Also, tell them to stop taking IE so serious. I go there for barstool football talk with my friends (and apparently some enemies)...... And tell them to stop Talking about me in the past tense, tell those whiners I'll be back, lol.

Ps, tell whoever made that banner that 1) it's hilarious 2) Greg should be shirtless 3) I'll give them a billion vbucks when I'm back for their trouble"

There is a not-so-fine line between entertainment and open, repetitive trolling that constantly derails the site. That was Pat. And full disclosure, I often enjoyed his insane and constant trolling simply to laugh at him. However, there is a far greater majority that felt the site was worse off in such a way, and it wasn't fair to let such behavior continue at the risk of losing other quality contributors. This may be "just a message board," but as Whiskey said so well, it's more than that because of the great community. Even though some enjoyed Pat, he was poisoning the community that many work so hard to maintain.

As for Koon, he is pure harmless entertainment, not to the trolling extent like Pat was IMO. But if you bite the hand that feeds too many times, even the entertainment value is lost at some point.

It's weird that the discussion is about whether or not people like Koon's posting. His posting had 0% to do with why he was banned. It's completely irrelevant whether or not he rubs you the wrong way. Being "disliked" does not break any rules, and obviously isn't bannable. And the converse is also true... being "liked" certainly does not give anyone carte blanche to break rules.

This is what the Koon said to me after this all went down:
It's cool. I took risk so I can't complain. Fwiw, pat emailed asking me to set up an account so he could follow threads. He said he wouldn't post so I said sure. Had I known he would post I wouldn't have done it.

I obviously think pat should get a second chance. He's smart enough to know his leash would not exist. But after this I'm done arguing for him. I'll be happy just to be back, lol.

He gets it, and he'll be back, but it needs to be clear that when rules are intentionally circumvented there will be consequences that exceed a warning or slap on the wrist... or no one would follow them.

Says the guy with that signature. You hit the nail on the head. This is a chat room that is controlled by 8 or so members. Irishpat added nothing to the conversation, so he's gone. If you don't like it, go to UHND because I'm sure he'd be welcome there. This isn't a democracy. Also, you can say it's obviously a joke with your over the top #freeamerica rhetoric. But there are two problems with that: (1) We've had more bannings because the "totally joking" leader of this "totally sarcastic" movement has now broken the site rules pretty blatently to get around Pats permanent banning, so now we're down one consistent contributor for the offseason; (2) if "Free Pat" was a joke it was one that got old about a year ago. So you're either serious (which would be sad), or you won't stop making a joke that's funny to 5 people, two of which are banned from this site (also sad).

Speaking of getting old..."if you don't like it go to another site" is beyond old.

Doc Holliday is turning in his grave...

Here's my question:
Why did he need an account in order to follow threads? How many people lurk in order to read threads without an account? It seems a bit naive to believe that he wouldn't eventually start posting.

Here's the thing though...he can say that we all take IE way too seriously and he'd be right in many, many cases, including myself at times. But why is he telling people that, when he is the one who reports so many posts and causes so many problems? Sorry, but a dude who doesn't take things seriously would never report another poster being 'mean' to him, especially after he being a dick himself. There was a time where no one reported more posts than he did.

I mean, he lost a bet with fake money and refused to pay the FAKE money based on a technicality, and argued on and on about how he really won and he wasn't going to pay. Did I mention it was FAKE money? Haha. But we're the only ones who take it too seriously?

And if we're all at a bar talking sports, he's the online equivalent of the loud dude that has an opinion on everything, argues against every point that the consensus agrees upon even when he knows nothing about the subject, and by the end everyone wants to grab by the neck and throttle. Nobody likes that guy lol.

This board maintains high standards and will continue to do so. Its a board that gets viewed by highly respected individuals from the interwebs and has earned a solid reputation. As others have stated, if you don't like it, pack up and move on.

LOL

^are you a mod? Wondering how you know what posts he reports.

Also, we aren't at a bar talking sports. We are participating in an online forum. No names. No faces. Rarely personally knowing another poster. You pick who you go to a bar and chat sports with.

NDinL.A. was a mod prior to "going rogue" at various points.

Good guy.

This is a great post. I think Koon broke the rules therefore should be punished but to the start of season is a bit much. Maybe until after spring ball is more fitting IMO. Somebody start a poll...what is the proper punishment?

Liking or hating him as a poster because whatever reason is completely irrelevant regarding the ban. And for what it is worth, I think he brings a lot to the board, may not be of value, but entertaining none the less.

Nuetered, irishpat, irishlew, and a slew of others are laughing at this.

Sorry about their luck.

Such b.s. and you know it. These mods are doing a phenomenal job.

Not BS, these mods are doing a fantasticly awesome job. I was referring to past mods who had a love of the ban hammer after inciting riots.

Oh...jeez...

I feel a brawl coming.

Please don't take that as an incitement. Be good to one another.

Not even close actually. Neutered takes the cake there, by seemingly thousands of posts.

Sorry about their luck.

Luck had nothing to do with it. They all earned their lifetime bans. Just like you earned your vacations.

Not true. You didn't know what was going on behind the scenes then, even though you thought you did and complained a whole lot about what you didn't know.

And Lax is still a mod here, btw.

Peps used to complain that I didn't ban people enough, then they complained LA and others banned people too much... I respect a lot of posters who hold these feelings, good peps, but I do recommend people hold off on how the board is run until they have been a mod themselves...

LOL, how do you not giggle at this. Maybe he can use the vbucks to hire a private investigator to find out if he really was all state in football.

You're saying LAX used to incite riots? Interesting.. I like LAX.
I feel as If this typing stuff doesn't really always show how you exactly feel sometimes. I know I post at times and then later read It.. erase. I'll never allow you all to let me try to make you think I am an english major, philosopher, psychiatrist... (attempt at dry humor) My thoughts aren't always relayed so well in print. I'd write the book if so.. Hasn't anyone sent a text and the receiver took it wrong? another weird world 101

I can see why you think his ban was too harsh. You and him seem to be of the opinion that this is some kind of democracy. Well, it isn't. The Mods here do a fantastic job; and this is coming from someone who has been "infracted" here, twice. In both cases I deserved it. Even though both were funny as hell, and both of the people I insulted earned it (and then some). But you can ask Whiskey and BGIF; I didn't whine and moan about getting a warning. Rules are rules, and your entertainment value has the square root of fvck-all to do with whether or not you should face consequences for breaking them.
