That's great!

Edit: NEVER change a diaper when they first wake up. At least keep everything covered during the change LOL

I realized I never listed his stats. His name is Jensen Anthony Brundrett and at 3 weeks he is currently 7.5 pounds and 20.5 inches long. The doc says that with the amount he likes to eat that he should be a big boy. These past 3 weeks, while being tiring and frustrating at times, have been the best of my life. Thanks for all the kind words, fellas!

Congrats! I have a little guy of my own, and he is the most fun (and the most frustrating) thing to ever happen to me.

P.S. Hope you like being sick - cause everything he brings home from school, you'll get! But it's all worth it :)

I can second that, unless your mother-in-law is standing at the end of the changing table. When we brought our first child home, my MIL was at the end watching us change him...the wrong end. My son pissed right down her face, including into her open mouth. I never laughed so hard in my life. I laugh every time. I laughed while typing this!

Congrats mom and dad!

(In 13 years you get to do algebra again!)

I just have to correct BGIF. Maybe 13 back in our day, but now it's 11. It may be 9 or 10 by the time your son gets there!

Anyway, congratulations! It is THE best part of life!

Haha!! That's awesome! My son has pissed on his doc at every appointment so far.

BTW... anyone got any good diaper rash advice? We just started putting Burt's Bees diaper cream on him so we'll see how that goes.

We always use the Bordeaux Butt Paste. Gets the job done pretty well

We used butt paste and desitin. Balmex is the best though. Cleared it up real fast. Its also pretty inexpensive compared to the others.

True that! Fortunately I'd had the standard mumps, measles and chicken pox as a kid. When my little guy was three or four he picked up a touch of impetigo which was cleared up quickly with a course of "the pink stuff" – amoxycillin. He was the lucky one.

Impetigo is caused by either staph or strep bacteria. I developed full blown strep throat. I don't wish that on anyone, not even a die-hard Trojan fan.

Oh, and congrats. My "little guy" is now 25 and far from little. He hasn't stopped making me proud since the day he was born.

I'm a Microbiologist, so I definitely know what you're saying about strep. As I'm sure you know, it's the same strep bacteria that causes impetigo that causes strep throat. And it's very important to get it treated with antibiotics because there are several complications (kidney failure and rheumatic fever, to name just two) that can come about by not getting it treated.

And even as we speak I am nursing a cold that my son gave me that he picked up in his FIRST WEEK of school. Naturally, he just gets a mild case of the sniffles for a few days, and I'm down with headache, congestion, sore throat...the whole works. This is going to be a LONG year.

First of our three got rashes from Burt's bees, the lotion was the worst. My wife would think his skin was dry and put more and more on (Wisconsin wintertime). The minute she ran out and used something else the skin cleared right up. Worth keeping an eye on.

Awesome looking character you have there, congrats!

Resinol is the best thing we have found. We have 3 kids and have tried a bit of everything.

For what it's worth - I always used A&D ointment on my son's diaper rash and it cleared it right up! But I've also heard great things on Bordeaux's Butt Paste. Used Desitin and my son had a nasty skin reaction, so we only used that once.

Thats a precious baby you have there!

We used the butt paste and had the most luck with it. Also, with the dry skin problem, my oldest daughter had what is called Numular Excema (I have no idea how its spelled). We tried every cream and topical steroid there was. Nothing would work. Her skin would look as if she had never seen lotion, much less used it. My late wife one day used some Avon lotion because it was handy. Next thing you know, her skin looked better. We found someone that sold Avon and told her we wanted 100 tubes of the stuff. HAHA! She thought it was a joke, until I got the check book out. Anyways, my daughter used it from 2 years old, until God called her and my wife home at age 15. It worked great.

Irish are 11-0 in my son's life. He wore his "Future Notre Dame Quarterback" onesie today. He loves it when I sing the fight song to him (which is a lot)
