M State was ranked about where y'all are now at the end of the season last year as opposed to the beginning of the season. I know you're not freakin Marshall, but I don't think you SEC material now. Especially in the first game with lots of unproven qualities of new coordinators and players. M State had played Auburn to 3 points last year.

I don't really understand the wording here, but Miss State was 6-6 going into the bowl game against you guys last year. Nowhere near ranked. Their best win was against Ole Miss and then I guess their next best one was against Bowling Green by 1 point. They also beat Alcorn State, Troy, and 3-9 Arkansas and Kentucky. 2 of their wins came in OT and the other two were by 6 points or less. They only comfortably won against Alcorn State and Troy. I think you're hyping up Miss State a bit. They were pretty crappy last year.

Line of the off-season "Dak Prescott is a dark horse Heisman contender ". WTF has he done?

I just wish I could have made the trip up there. My lovely wife of 23 years has filed for divorce and it is heating up. Stupid bitch!

Would definitely have made my bucket list!

This must be divorce week, we just had another member mention the same thing. Sorry to hear this.

My bad. I guess the pounding we took made me want to believe they were ranked higher...

Not much against the upper level SEC teams. He made his living off the bottom feeders. He looks the part of a solid QB, but do it against a decent team first. Reminds me of L. Thomas... all first team off the charter bus.

So I read the last few posts and thought, "who is this Dak Prescott character?"

A quick google search told me he is the Miss State QB.

But it also told me this

Which must be the funniest cbssports article I've ever read.

Curious what the odds are of the weather report changing for Saturday? 80% chance of rain/thunder storms as it stands right now, F that. I need some over the top optimism. Any one local that give me some insight? I'm coming from southwest Ohio.

The temperature keeps rising and rising. This could be miserable. Is there anyone who's going to be in the area but without a ticket that wants to be on "standby" in case my pregnant wife isn't up to it?

Bingo! except we're driving up, so sort of stuck. She's a Game Day virgin but not a virgin, do to the pregnancy and all.

I like Reggie. And that guy, ol' what's his name, used to be goofy, but is becoming much better. Ryan, I think.

Best part is he ain't Jack! So the broadcast was much better on the basis that it was one jack off. Right?

Seriously, they provided a good basic primer before and after the PC. Made the whole thing look much more professional, and big time!

Thunderstorms?? Shades of the USF game all over again! :D

Ugh, that was my thought. I won't be at the opener this year, I'll be at Michigan instead. That USF game a few years ago was a mess though, even if you take the loss out. There were so many interruptions due to lightning, not to mention we had to evacuate the stadium twice...just awful. Hard to get into a rhythm when the team has to warm up 4-5 times a game with breaks in the action. I don't mind a lot of rain, as long as thunderstorms aren't included.

Ground game engage

This.

I'll jump into the fray here I guess. You guys seem much more reasonable on this board than most, including the other ND boards.

I agree with you for the most part on Miss St., and the Bill Parcells truism applies that they are what their record said- a 6-6 team. I will be interested to see how they do this year though, because at the time we played them they were damn good. The best team we have seen since I would say Texas' 12-1 team in 2008- and that includes A&M last year and UCLA a couple of years ago. I knew we were in trouble because I had watched the Egg Bowl- Prescott came in late in that game, injured, and led a game winning TD drive. He reminded me a bit of Brett Hundley, who we played as a freshman. As I said, it remains to be seen if a) that game was a fluke and he/they played as well as they could, b) they were much better at the end of the season and we will recognize that this year, or (hopefully not...) c) we just aren't very good and fattened up on a terrible schedule only to be exposed by the only decent team we played. My heart says it's B and they will be the surprise team of the SEC and Dak will become a star. My head says it's either A, or more likely, C. I guess that's why we play the games. We will find out soon.

All rain does is help an underdog. Not needed.

Also so much worse for working out the kinks in the passing game and with the Pass D to prep for Michigan.

Okay- since ND is, ahem, exposed plenty in the national media I feel like I know your team fairly well. What can I tell you about the Owls? I know there is another Owl on the board, but apparently only one of us can spell 'suffering'.

Ya, I wasn't trying to crap all over MSU. I actually think they're going to surprise people this year, and I think they win 9 games. If you guys had played them to 2 scores, I'd be very worried about this game on Saturday.

I know you guys are 15-4 your last 19 games (posted that a few days ago in here) and this weather report of rain actually makes me go from complete confidence to slightly nervous for the game.

2 weeks ago I would've said we were going to win by 30. 2 days ago, I said by 20. Between the fact we have never seen BVG defend a mobile QB and the weather rolling in, I'm actually starting to worry.

We try Austin. Welcome!

When this board was set up the intent was to be a place for sports discussion not one line insults. Many people wanted to get away from the smack board mentality. For the most it's succeeded. We've got a number of members from opponents school. Enjoy your stay.

GO IRISH!

The new field should negate any of the slipping we have seen in previous seasons in wet conditions. Rain never has any effect on QB's really, its the wind that "ruins" the passing game

If it's going to be sloppy time for Cam, Greg and Tarean show.

It seems like everybody's forgetting that we just got some shiny new field turf. I aint worried bout no rain and slop!

The horses will still be able to run. Nothing changes, maybe it's just a little less comfortable with rain.

I'm sure we will dull it down for Rice so we don't show to much for Michigan. Then after we play Michigan we will realize we are really that bad and we weren't dulling anything.

Isn't that how it usually goes.
