anybody else worried about NDs defense getting gashed by navys passing game? im worried that NDs defense will be so keyed in on the triple option allowing navys wrs to get behind NDs defenders.
I am less worried than usual on this - we have two CBs that can sit on an island all day.

I think ND will give up yards here and there, but also have so many negative plays that Navy stalls fast and often. The biggest killer to a Navy offense isn't stopping them to 3 yards a carry, it's the -8 yard plays that put them at 2nd and 18, and I think among Botehlo, Sneed, Howard Cross, and Nana, coupled with good coverage, we have a lot of -8s coming for them.

It's going to happen just keep in mind that they need a really high success rate on these to make it worthwhile. A zero yard play is much more of a drive killer for Navy's offense than other teams.

Since 2015, Navy has passed for a total of 258 yards against Notre Dame. I am confident Sam Hartman will surpass that number on Saturday.

Yep, it is almost time for me to unsubscribe from this thread. That has become one of my Saturday morning rituals.
I'm with you. I prefer to watch the game without the distractions of "We're losing every game because of a false start." lol

Haha, we are reaching peak anxiety as a board when we start worrying about the naval academy passing attack dicing up what is most likely the best position group on the team.

Most confident i've been going into a season since 2006, maybe 2015. I'm probably more confident than those 2 years because of our 2006 D potential issues that came to fruition and not a dominant line, and 2015 a new QB and concern with BVG.

Last 15 years most seasons i've expected us to be pretty good but KNOW we aren't good enough to win it all unless we get really really lucky. I don't think we need to get lucky to win it all IMO. I think we can be the best team in the country. Part of that is due to the most talented teams not having what they typically have at the QB spot.

Mills is also going to be a load for the OL.

45-16 ND. With a range of outcomes pushing ND over 50, ala 2012. I think if Navy tries throwing, like their new OC claims, our secondary will feast. Multiple INT incoming....just a matter if any go back to the house.

I think ND's defense will be THAT good and I look for Hartman to get the ball to the playmakers, unlike Pyne's second half last year. Lets roll!

Go Irish!

That is a bananas statistic. Especially since they have averaged 21 points a game in that stretch, beat us once and lost two other games by just one score.
But yeah, just create negative plays for them. That is the way. Our defense will be just fine.

Given the whole other country thing and no BYE to follow.. Really wish ND would have negotiated to make this a Friday night, college football kick off game.

Can make that quite a spectacle and unique treat to a fans teething for CFB. Week double zero.

I trust our corners. While Navy is projected to pass more this season (Although I'm not sure they got their QB situation situated because of earlier injuries), I'm more worried about us stopping their run game. We've got questions on the DL, and while our LBs bring a ton of experience I'm not sold they have the athleticism to get to the edge in time on the outside plays.

We’re grilling some burgers for late lunch, and having some buffalo chicken dip.
