Watched the mid season finale last night too. This whole season was pretty lame, but I'm in for a penny in for a pound. This is where I think back to shows like Breaking Bad, and realize they did it right. Sure I hated seeing BB end, but it's better than milking it for every dollar it's worth and giving us 3 or 4 sh!tty seasons before ending it.

Am I missing something?? Morgan would have to travel from ~Georgia to ~ the West Coast and BACK to make all that happen.... correct??

This is where I'm at. We don't know how long Rick was unconscious for, but we can assume it wasn't that long...right? A month at most? Morgan was there in Georgia with his walker wife and son, so he wouldn't have been on the west coast yet presumably. He stays in Rick's town till at least the prison escape, and then he trails them all the way to frickin' DC. Talk about a nomad. I don't see how he would have time to fit in a West Coast trip up to this point unless he's leaving now in this timeline...and wouldn't FTWD be a year or two at least in the past? I haven't followed that show closely, but they're several seasons behind at this point unless they go through some large time leaps. It all makes no frickin' sense.

Ok, so in an interview with Lennie James it sounds like he stays in Alexandria through season 8 and then is transitioned to Texas for FTWD. So I guess there must have been some large gaps in time/history in FTWD for both time lines to meet up there.

FTWD started on the outset of the outbreak, the very beginning.

It’s tough to know exactly, but we have some good hints. We know that the pilot of Fear took place to coincide with the beginning of the global outbreak. We also know that in The Walking Dead, Rick woke up about four to five weeks after the outbreak, according to Robert Kirkman. In fact, showrunner Dave Erickson said that Fear started right around the time Rick was shot and fell into a coma.

By the end of the first half of Season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead, we were getting “very close” to the time that Rick woke up in Georgia, Erickson said.

So yeah, based on this timeline it makes no fucking sense that Morgan would be going and meeting with FTWD out west. When you consider Rick was asleep for over a month, and then they traveled to the farm and were there some time, they spent a few Earth seasons roaming until they found the prison, spent at least a year at the prison, escaped the prison, traveled to Alexandria, they've spent at least a year or possibly two at Alexandria (Based on Judith's growth) yeah...no fucking sense.

With Morgan joining FTWD, and the additions of Jenna Elfman and Maggie Grace, that show may take it up a notch or two.

Found this...

In an exclusive interview with ComicBook.com, James opened up about the transition to the other series on the opposite side of the country, revealing season 8 of The Walking Dead will "springboard" Morgan over to Fear.

"The things that the writers are doing with Morgan and the way that they're navigating, it's not really a spoiler alert, but the way that Morgan transitions through the crossover is really, really interesting," James explained.

"The springboard that goes from The Walking Dead to Fear is a real... He goes with some kind of trajectory. It is a full, well-thought out journey that Morgan goes on. A lot of it is tied to his relationship with Rick. A lot of it is tied to his relationship to this group of people that he feels conflicted about caring for and wanting to protect."

James couldn't say much more about Morgan's remaining time on The Walking Dead — "He gets really messed up," according to the actor — but James' comments signify Morgan will depart The Walking Dead at the end of season 8.

"There's always the possibility" of a return back to The Walking Dead, James told ComicBook.com, with longtime co-star Andrew Lincoln, who plays leading man Rick Grimes, telling us a future Rick/Morgan reunion isn't out of the question.

"I think that they have an intense habit of finding each other, no matter what channel they're on," Lincoln said.

When Will Morgan Leave 'The Walking Dead' For 'Fear'?

I don't think so. If he did, he was there a real short time. He would have left Rick's hometown, leaving his walker wife there. He then went to the west coast, stayed MAYBE 6 months (Guesstimate of time on the farm and then roaming till they found the prison), then Morgan would have returned and went crazy after the death of his son at the hands of his walker wife back in Rick's hometown again. Just seems wacko. Also, based on what's being reported in the Lennie James interview it sounds more like Morgan is staying on through Season 8 in TWD and then "transitioning" to the west coast for FTWD, so we're to assume that they're both on the same timeline?

I think FTWD is moving to Houston, so Morgan only has to travel halfway across the country.

I remember seeing an article before season 8 started saying that the season would explore Coral’s relationship with Negan. I guess it just meant one scene. Not that I love Coral or anything, but wtf?

I was glad to see we got one last, "Coral" in before he bites it (literally). Another awful moment of the episode- Rick finally makes it back to Alexandria, conveniently just in time (or just past time, depending on how you look at it), sees the community literally being blown up and on fire, and he runs to his house to whisper, "Coral...Coral...Coral." As if the kid would actually be hiding in the house anyway when all the houses next to his are exploding and under attack.

Are we all positive Carl is dying??

The actor and his family had a falling out with the producer becasue of this. It was a complete surprise to everyone Chandler Riggs says he is done and that Carl is dying.

I see it as he was bit on the stomach so there is no cutting it out or stopping it.

The only thing I can see to bring Carl back if they want to pull something crazy out is that the zombie that bit him was actually a Whisperer (humans who dress up as zombies so they dont get eaten). Therefor no zombie bite and no death.

That being said it sounds like from Chandler Riggs his part is over.

I wonder if there isn't something more to this than the show runner simply deciding to kill Carl off and take the show in a different direction. Riggs seemed genuinely surprised and unhappy about his character's death and had recently bought a house in the area where the show is filmed. Carl's death will be difficult to deal with in regards to the storylines in the comics, and his death just makes no sense in regard to story continuity or making the show more popular. Any rumors of a rift on set, producers unhappy with Riggs or his decision to go to college full time, or something else along those lines?

After the glen dumpster thing, I won't believe Coral is dead until it happens. I have watched every episode, but already considering giving up on it after the next half. I don't even like Coral that much, just tired of the war with the saviors. It's kind of like how annoying it became with the governor.

was coral in gray haired ricks vision in the first episode this season?

I think the whole riggs upset with producers/coral gets bit and dies is all a publicity stunt for the show, build up for second half of this season, timing just too convenient.

coral will be back (unfortunately)

I think that it was mentioned somewhere but I can't remember where that Carl was in the vision and was the same age as he is currently where as others are older or showing some age.

EDIT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuQ97kKcrzM

Think that is him at 1:12.

I haven't watched the episode yet but have read the comments here. Is it possible Carl has some immunity to the infection and this is where the show goes from here?

Spend maybe a season with internal struggles about what to do with this information.

Spend another season fighting off others (i.e. the Whisperers) who try and kidnap Carl.

Then the last 1-2 seasons move towards some sort of resolution.

Idk...

I am almost 100% positive Carl is going to die in the next episode. Everything I have read from AMC and Chandler's family is that it is over. If they did this as a stunt, IDK.... it would be real shitty thing to do to fans.

I watched first 2 episodes of this season and then quit the show, but from reading this thread I feel like the obvious scenario is Karl comes back as a Zombie who seriously threatens the well being of the group, and Rick is forced to put him down and that’s how it ends. Sorry if this prediction was already pointed out by someone.

Finally got around to finishing the season. Woof.

Do we really need close ups of each character staring intently to show how serious the situation is?

I am going to keep watching because I've been watching for so long but this show went from being the best part of my week to the worst.

Carl took too long to die. That was one of the worst episodes ever and I don't usually complain about stuff like that.

Shout out to Negan living in peace with our friends. Lol.

I think if they just had him die right out of the gates, that would have taken away from what he means to everyone. I like that the importants had a chance to say goodbye. Loved Daryl in the moment.
Morgan was bad ass. Ezekiel seems to have snapped out of his pussiness. Galvin eating it was fantastic. Maggie was bad ass.

what were the new scenes in the episode prior to the "mid season premiere"?

so all the recent gray-haired-rick-scenes were Coral's "dream"?
