So you want to require people to own other guns? The government doesn't know if you or I own a gun. And since a gun registry isn't going to happen, how do you plan on this? Signing an affidavit that I own guns and haven't commit any crimes related to firearms?

I would rather have people who I know have owned other guns for X amount of time with no incidents be the ones with access to heavier duty ammunitions than them just being available to anyone.

You don’t need to have registered a car to get your drivers license. I’d do something similar with guns. Pistols, revolvers, maybe some low caliber bolt action hunting rifles would be the equivalent to your basic class D drivers license. As you go up into more serious weapons you require more serious licenses that are harder to get like a CDL.

If you make the process more of a hassle you’ll get rid of a bunch of the spur of the moment type people right off the bat. For the rest hopefully you’d be able to weed out the really crazy ones as they’re trying to get the license required to buy the gun.

Do we think banning of assault type weapons would fix the problem? IMO, these people have some issues that are driving them and they will come up with another way to have multiple killings if something like an AR-15 isn't available whether it's using multiple handguns or homemade bombs.

Now more to your point about gun laws, as I've said before I'm in the middle. Other than target practice, what's the purpose of owning an AR-15? I don't see a waiting period as a big deal. There has to be some middle ground, but I don't know what it is.

The target of the joke? You, and everyone that thinks about how evil drag shows are. There is nothing in his post that makes light of what actually happened or excuses the actions of the shooter. The joke runs separately from the actual issue of some deranged physco lighting up a school.

Why haven't you explained why you take issue with what Cack said, and then with what Drayer says? He is talking about media excuses/hoops/whatever fringe issue etc. If you're concerned about time/place, wouldn't this be an issue with you? Surely?

Stop with the misguided emotionalism. This is why the problem doesn't get solved. People like you wring your hands and demand we do something about it, but what you demand will have little to no effect because it's a feel good measure, not something that deals with the actual underlying problem.

No reasonable person demands that all men get their penis cut off because a small percentage of penis owners commit rape. We understand that rape isn't a penis problem, it's a behavior problem. No reasonable person demands that we ban cars because a small percentage of car owners get drunk and kill or injure someone in a crash. We understand that drunk driving isn't a car issue, it's a substance abuse and behavior issue. Reasonable people who understand what's going on instead of just parroting what they've been told to be outraged about dont demand that we ban guns because a very small percentage of gun owners commit murder with them. We understand that murder isn't a gun problem, it's a behavior problem.

To lower the instance of rape or drunk driving accidents, we address the behavior of those committing such acts, because THAT'S where the problem lies. Do you really want to reduce gun violence? Really? Stop wringing your hands and making useless demands. Instead, address the actual reason: bad behavior and the causes of such behavior.

The fact that the shooter of six innocent people yesterday, including three children, was one of your beloved, "perfectly normal" transsexuals says otherwise. The shooter was a very confused, mixed up person with identity issues and obviously anger issues.

I mean we're talking about the US FUCKING A, the supposed greatest nation on Earth to ever exist, and people want our children to be walking past armed guards to learn how to read, write, add, subtract, and interact in positive ways??? This sounds like a school in Somalia.

Almost 400 million guns in this country, you'll never confiscate them all...especially when it'll only be law abiding citizens that turn them in. Nevermind the fact you can 3D print ghost guns these days, it makes confiscating them irrelevant.

The whole reason psychos target schools is because they're easy targets. It's not rocket science. Lots of children that won't be able to fight back, typically just one adult per classroom, and very few deterrents if any once they're in the door. "You want our schools to be prisons?" No, I want our schools to be safe. A lot of schools already have strong measures in place to prevent people on the outside getting in, some of which include outside doors being locked with one buzzed in access point at the front of the school. That needs to be a mandatory rule across the board, but further actions need to take place. There should be at least one armed officer in each school per X number of students (Job creation!). There should be safety measures for classrooms. Not every teacher needs to be armed, but if they're comfortable handling a firearm it should be considered as an option. Bulletproof glass on classroom doors. I've seen where one school deploys a fog in the hallways in the case of an active shooter. Any and all options should be considered.

I promise you that the problem will never go away until people start realizing why schools are the ones that keep being targeted.
