Is it just me?

I'd prefer to start the season without hearing so much about the 2nd, 3rd or 4th QB's. If it makes me uneasy to hear "Dayne is the guy" almost always followed by something to the extent of "but just in case" or "however"......How does it make him feel?
I say pick a QB and 100% commit to him. It seemed that even during the annoucement of him being named the starter, more time was spent discussing the back ups and the "just in cases".

Done. Gave him a week off, considering he hasn't been a problem in the past. I tried to give him a several chances, but he just couldn't control himself. Truth be told, I think I'm quite innocent here lol. Please show me any post where I made a personal attack on him. I know where the line is and I never crossed it. By the way, most of his worst stuff got deleted.

I mean seriously, the man made a really off post... I pointed it out (and many others felt the same way) and he comes in and attacks me. So I respond matter of factly and point out where he contradicts himself... and then he comes back with a worse attack that NDinLA censored. Then he goes round and round being unreasonable, cropping out the parts of posts that show where he is contradicting himself, and posting the equivalent of "LOLZ YUR DUMB."

If you have a problem with the way reps and vBucks work on this site take it up with the owners. He deserved every negative rep he got and more. And notice I'm not the only one neg repping him... just the only one who took the time to do it on each of his bad posts

I'm not aware of any "law" that says you can't negative rep someone multiple times, if they deserve it. I don't know who he was negative repping there, so it's hard to say. You've given us incomplete "evidence".

Question on Hendrix/Golson: Is it known who has the better arm strength of the two? I remember last year Kelly praising Hendrix and his throws on the scout team. From Golson's highlights and the video of him hitting Deion Walker in practice, we know he good arm strength as well. Or does are there more important matters in the spread offense?

I'm not a coach, so I'm not intimately familiar with the spread. But I have heard Kelly mention, numerous times, about his QBs needing to be able to get the line into the correct blocking scheme(s). The QB in his system, apparently, is the one who calls the protection. I don't think your arm strength, your accuracy, or your quick release, will matter all that much if you have unblocked defenders in your face all of the time.

Arm strength is frequently listed as a plus for Hendrix. I can't recall any blogger or recruiting analyst specifically commenting on Golson's arm strength, but his highlight film is full of 50+ yard bombs, so it's safe to assume that Golson can stretch the field vertically.

Before our recent QB controversy was resolved, arm strength was frequently touted as a major plus for Dayne and a minus for Tommy, but Charley Molnar dismissed that in an interview not long ago. He claimed that Dayne can only throw the ball a few yards further than Tommy.

My conclusion is that arm strength isn't an issue for any of our 4 QBs, so you shouldn't worry about it.

Really??? He was lucky he didn't get much longer for the crap he kept pulling. I asked him to stop twice, and he didn't. He kept right at it (a lot). Lax never went personal, even saying he wasn't going to get personal. He actually showed great restraint. Lord knows i might not have been able to show such restraint if I were him.

You completely missed the point JayRock. IrishTimer's dissenting opinion has NOTHING to do with it. His continued personal attacks had everything to do with it. And Lax's posting history had nothing to do with it. His restraint did. Simple.

No doubt. But if Lax was acting like an a**, and didn't stop after being warned, then he would have had to have been dealt with too, posting history be damned. I looked up Timer's history before I gave him a week off, and he was fine, so he only got a week. I told him that in the PM I sent him. If he had a history, you're right, i would have taken that into consideration. And with that, I'll bow out of this. I'll delete all of the off-topic posts tonight when I get home...

I wasn't worried about any one of our QB's having the necessary arm strength, I was just looking to see if one had more arm strength then the other. I think most of us have the opinion that the whoever is Third on the depth chart will eventually beat out Rees when Dayne leaves. So I was just looking for something else to compare between the two as it seems they are pretty even at this point.

Yes. A very sizable chunk, at least. I know you ascribe that to the whole "the backup QB is always the fan favorite" thing, but I think it is based on the players' respective pedigrees and skill sets and having seen Tommy play. To wit: if Golson and/or Hendrix were ahead of Rees right now, I don't think everyone would be saying about Tommy what they are saying about Golson and Hendrix.

I give Tommy a lot of credit for the way he played last year, but he does not appear to possess the physical tools of a BCS quarterback. He is a valuable asset - a backup QB that the coaches, players and fans can be confident in because we have seen him handle emergency duties before. But I do not believe Notre Dame can get where they want to be with Tommy Rees quarterbacking the team. I hate to say it about the kid, because I like him. But its the truth.

Yes, that is the popular opinion on this site, but recognize I said the word MOST, not ALL, because I know there are some posters on here like yourself who think Tommy will take over after Dayne leaves.
