Wont post spoilers, but that one Carrie Fischer scene was the most rediculous in the entire saga. Even more than anything Jar Jar or young anakin.

This is the spoiler thread, discuss away. That suuuuucked. In the novels and whatnot, they've been laying the groundwork for Leia using the Force but that scene gets an F- for execution.
I don't know if I loved that movie or hated it.

Movie had some of the lowest lows but also some of the highest highs. The Luke stuff at the end was incredible. All the Snoke scenes and stuff between Rey and Kylo was incredible. Love the Yoda stuff too.
On the other hand the aforementioned Leia scene, attempts at humor and some ridiculously illogical war strategy were so bad. Some scenes served literally no purpose...Luke milking the creature and then chugging it...wtf. I guess the point was to show he was a hermit but come on.
In general I thought the first hour was bad... way too much like Empire. The last 1.5 were really good.
Last thing...did I miss the "I've got a bad feeling about this" because I had to go to the bathroom like a noob or did they not do it??

I liked all of the humor except for the opening Hux-Poe exchange and Luke dusting off his shoulder.
Wish we got to see Luke wrecking shit, but the binary sunset callback with the Force Theme playing made me tear up. #NoHomo

Yeah those two humor scenes were bad. The only scene I remember laughing out loud at was when Rey destroyed the caretaker's shit.
So I really don't understand why Leia is alive. She serves like no purpose and didn't really serve one all movie. The way she was about to die towards the beginning before she force wielded a space suit was actually well done and that would have been a fine exit.

That was the dumbest shit ever. Movie still got a B from me for everything with Snoke, Luke, Kylo, Rey, Finn, and Po. The casino scenes were beyond dumb

The first half of the film was sooo bad.. the humor and the Leia scene, I thought: “ oh shit, this movie will be to Star Wars what the hobbit was to LOTRs”
Snokes death was great, but I don’t like how they just off’d him with really nothing. I’m sure it’s something up for a book release or something, but here comes some new dark lord with insane powers able to toy with Ren (who struck fear into Luke) with no explanation. How did dark force user that potentially could rival Sidous come out of no where??
Also looks like Phasma was the new Saga’s Bubba Fett: all flair, no substance. Badass looking that dies underwhelmingly.
Luke scene was great but was really hoping for some insane level Jedi action. The Force ghost thing was cool and all but I was expecting so much more from the last Jedi Master meditating for 30 years after single Handel overthrowing the empire.
All in all, solid movie. A bit overhyped, but the last hour was fantastic and pound for pound some of the best Star Warring out there

I would say they mostly nailed the main characters but failed badly with all the ancillary characters minus Snoke. I thought Laura Dern was miscast. C3PO and R2 were underutilized. Chewbacca too. Justin Thoreaux's cameo was weird. Del Toro's character had a lot of potential but ultimately I felt let down. Way too much emphasis on animals and stuff. Hated the engineer chick who randomly could drive one of those vehicles at the end. And they basically created a romance from nothing when they already had a Rey/Finn romance brewing in TFA. Now maybe Po and Rey will be together?? Idk seemed forced.
But as I said, Po, Kylo, Rey, Finn, BB8, Luke, Snoke all fantastic.

The podcast I like generally breaks things down along the lines of "war" versus "lore." I give them an A+ on the lore, C- on the war.
