Does anyone actually believe what Kylo said about Rey's parentage?
I believe it. But somewhere deep down I don't want to.

Non-spoiler regarding the previews:
A Wrinkle in Time looks SO bad. Like, John Carter plus Tomorrowland levels of bombing. It's like they took the Johnny Depp Alice in Wonderland and put Oprah in it for some reason. Get your shit together, Disney.
Flip side: The Infinity War trailer on the big screen was dooope. Thanos looks real AF.

I don't know, Kylo said something like "you already know this to be true" and it seems like Rey did, in fact, know it to be true.I don't think I believe it. Seems like something Kylo made up to break Rey down.
Agree with all this.

Also, hot take on theater seats:
Leather, automatic recliners are trash. They are uncomfortable and create weird viewing issues as you go further back, because the headrest doesn't adjust.
I'd rather be in a standard, bouncy, cloth-laden theater seat and adjust myself based on years of theater training.
Or he was playing on her fear. He knew her worst fear would be that they were just some nobodies and they left her for no good reason. Kylo was trying to break her and make her think that joining him was the way to become something special, something that she wasn't by birth.
How would Kylo know either way anyways?
Also to the point of Obi wan leaving her in a better place if he abandoned her perhaps he didn't know anything about her. Maybe he knocked someone up and didn't know. He leaves and the mom ends up giving rey away without his knowledge later.
Obi Wan cannot be her father. Grandfather yes, but he was way too old to be her father.
As I said before, overall, I was entertained by the movie and that's ultimately what I paid for.
I guess I want to hold Star Wars to a higher standard. I didn't have expectations other than "this better be fucking great to makeup for how vanilla TFA was".
They have a big bad villain that we know nothing about, Snoke. His mystery from TFA was left completely unresolved. That's a pretty big, lazy error. Then they kill him off essentially just to get to the point.
The humor is forced. "I'll hold..." and the early jokes completely failed to establish a dark tone that a middle movie requires.
The whole thing was a rollercoaster. The pacing was entirely out of whack because Disney is beholden to two things: fan fiction and action figures. They chose to show too many new worlds and use too many characters as they move the story along. The "movie sin" count was off the charts, I guess is what I mean.
Why wouldn't Holdo just tell him that they're using transports to get to a Rebel base? Why does Holdo need to be a character anyway? The Casino subplot was ultimately useless anyway, and only needed to exist because Holdo/Leia can spill the beans on their intents? It's a completely useless reason to show a new world, is what it is.
1) No Phasma
2) Kill Leia in space
3) Ackbar does the lightspeed jump
4) No Casino subplot, and no Rose
5) Explain wtf Snoke is and give the jump from the Empire to the First Order some legitimacy
6) What were the Knights of Ren again?
There are a lot of highs in this movie, and a lot of very low lows. Sorta like a rollercoaster again.

And like you said that Rose character was so freaking pointless. When Disney decided to reboot Star Wars with TFA they said "hey we need an African American lead and a female lead, that'll sell and show how PC and diverse we are!" So naturally they said hey why not go for an Asian female lead in the 2nd one! What's next? Introduce a completely meaningless transgender character in the 3rd one? Just complete SJW PC vanilla "diversity" for the sake of "diversity" casting by Disney.
Yeah, we've already seen the original Iron Man. No need to beat that drum again.I hated every second of that casino thing. Not even Benicio made it worthwhile
GTFO with that mess. I'm as anti-SJW as anyone but there's absolutely nothing like that in this movie.pretty much nailed it.
I thought the movie was terrible. Had so much potential too. Casting of the main characters was great. Adam Driver is a really good actor. Mark Hamill was terrific and should have been in it more. I like the girl who plays Rey, she's great. Benicio Del Toro is great in anything he does, but he just felt wasted in that role. Would've loved to seen them make him a major part of "The Resistance" and then become a traitor and try to sell them out to the First Order.
Just had so much potential and it fell flat. Very disappointed.
I thought the whole casino subplot was stupid as hell but that they were doing it to bring Lando Calrissian back. Imagine how great it would've been to see them do a shot of a guy at a table playing a casino game and all you see is that rose lapel pin, then bam you see his face and it's Billy Dee Williams. They missed a huge opportunity to bring him back and have him resist at first and then tell him what happened to his buddy Han Solo and he goes back with them to help them break into the ship and then he goes out in a blaze of glory taking that ship out so the rest can escape. Or something like that.
The movie was pretty bad. I wanted to like it, but I didn't. I liked the performances by some of the actors and the dialogue wasn't terrible like those George Lucas movies in the early 2000s, but this movie was just bad. It was 100% because of the story and the choices the director made. Casting and acting and dialogue was pretty good. And like you said that Rose character was so freaking pointless. But holy hell did it improve upon second viewing. I went from B- / C+ to full A.

For some reason, the jokes landed better for me the second time. And the final Luke stuff was even more powerful. Lots of good tidbits of foreshadowing in there.Full A due to...what? Did the casino scenes get better?

Canto Bight doesn't strike me as bad, just... unnecessary. I still think the movie is about 20 minutes too long, that's why no A+.

Uneccessary is the best word for the casino stuff. You could have gotten Finn and rose to the same place without that and benicios character and shaved the film down about 20 minutes.
I also thought Derns charachter was unnecessary. And the decision making by pretty much everyone in the resistance was absurd - to the point I almost wanted to see them all bite it because of their moronic behavior.
I wished Luke got to do more fighting before becoming one with the force.
I really think there’s still an outstanding question about Rey’s background. It was almost breaking the fourth wall- Kylo telling US that her parents had no part in the story. What a huge middle finger to your fans. That’s the part that’s rubbing me wrong the most. It feels like a lie, because for it to be true, and they way they did it, is a mistreatment of the audience.
Wait, how did Benicio's character know to look for cloaked transport ships?
Yes, I'm really not sure why the secrecy was needed for this plan. Did the Resistance higher ups think they have a mole or something?
Vis a vis Rey's parentage - it COULD be that Kylo is telling the truth that Rey's parents were nobodies, but that this no longer matters, as she should forget everything from her past, including her humble beginnings. What matters is the future and her desires, not some destiny bestowed upon her by noble parents
I get it, but if that’s true, then why spend time onscreen stoking the fires that this is an important plot point (they did so in both the force awakens and the first 3/4 of this movie) only to yank the rug out, in a stupid way?
