So, since I really don't care about spoiling what is already spoiled imo so I went ahead and read these apparent script leaks. I'd say that can't be real but TLJ was a thing so anything is possible I guess. If that is in fact it then all I can say is if the entire purpose of this trilogy was to completely destroy the original trilogy, then,... perfectly done.

Rewatching all of the movies in anticipation of 'Rise of Skywalker'

EXTREMELY HOT TAKE ALERT:

After living my life thinking Empire was the best Star Wars movie... it is now third place to 'Rogue One' and then 'Revenge of the Sith'

'Rogue One' captured the Star Wars atmosphere and mystique better than any other Star Wars movie. The environment, the ambiance, the diversity of characters/species, even the idea of 'plucky underdogs outmanned against the Empire' was done better than in the OT.

'Revenge of the Sith' is a tragedy amidst a soap opera. The main series has always been about family drama, and RotS is the best in that regard. Anakin's turn to Darth Vader is tragic and well done, even if Palpatine/Sidious battling Mace Windu was terrible and even if Hayden Christensen delivered every line with maximum cheese.

The best 'family drama' moment happens in Empire... but the best overall movie in the family drama spirit is RotS, because the downfall of Anakin coinciding with the downfall of the Jedi order is great. Bonus points for Ewan McGregor being a BAMF as middle-aged Obi Wan.

I basically recognize 4-6 and Rouge One and disown all other SW movies... it's like how the Alien saga ended with Aliens or how there's only two Terminator movies.

100% agree. I may have the order slightly different but for me the top 4 are ANH, ESB, RoTS, and Rogue1. ANH absolutely sets the stage for everything after, and that can't be understated. I actually like TFA for similar reasons but it is not quite up to the standard as the 4 mentioned above. RoTS is surprisingly good on rewatch, I agree.

4-8 here. Even among those, anything that isn't 4 and 5 is largely trash, but at least it's relevant trash. Rouge One and the prequels are poo-doo.

I'd argue that Rogue One is more relevant than what they tried to do with Return of the Jedi.

How can you dislike Rogue 1? Despite knowing everyone will die before watching a second of it, the characters were actually developed to a level that had me invested in their fates. That is pretty good story telling. Also the look and feel of Rogue 1 was so original trilogy - the nostalgia was real.

Also for anyone bashing the prequels (which is easy to do), go watch the duel of the fates again. This might be the most memorable scene in all of Star Wars behind "I am your father!"
