Any kind of Luke-to-the-dark-side arc would be 100% filth and render both Empire and Return utterly pointless.

Maybe I shouldn't have said "great evil."

Seeing Lukes grapple with the conflict of Jedi--Balance--Sith and striking for eradication of Force users would be interesting, to me at least.

Disclaimer: in my younger years when I was at peak-nerd, I wrote a short story about a bro with an unstable purple lightsaber that was hunting both the remnants of the Jedi and the Sith in an effort to bring true balance to the force. Luke's suspicious absence from the trailers gave me hope that he might be tip-toeing the line in a similar fashion to what I had imagined years ago, based on learning about his father's path on both sides of the force and becoming conflicted about the manner of his death and status as the chosen one. I think his absence is either a marketing ploy, a hint that he has big character developments on the down-low, or both.

All the movies are cannon, the books etc, which were all cannon prior to Disney buying it up are now considered outside of the cannon (sucks because many of the books were pure gold). example: Mara Jade and Talon Karrde now aren't cannon, when they were until recently.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with that universe... is it totally scrapped and a bunch of books on the new universe take their place or will there still be a niche market for them?

Yep. I loved the EU books but Star Wars suffers from not having the ability to reset time like Star Trek and such ( at least just yet anyway) so a parallel universe where the EU could have occurred can't.

The is a book called Tales of the Bounty Hunters, and it is a series of short stories about each of the Bounty Hunters and their adventures right after the Falcon goes stealth on the Star Destroyer in ESB. Very cool and really good stories. One of the stories is where Han is older and decides to go do some old school Han stuff and runs into Bobba Fett who has been trying for many years to get Han. They duel and and it's awesome. But that can't happen in Lucas' world because Fett was killed in the Sarlaac in ROTJ.

Well if Marvel was only.......umm......idk....I've got nothing.

I was gonna say tony stark but that's basically a less cool Bruce Wayne.

Iron Man/Tony Stark is cooler than Bat Man/Bruce Wayne. Both have tons of money, sweet hideout, get all kinds of chicks, etc. Tony Stark is cockier though, and isn't depressed and brooding as much as Wayne...he's just drunk a lot. The Iron Man suit is just as bad ass or more so than Bat Man's little gadgets and toys.

On the flip side, Iron Man's enemies generally suck balls in comparison. You're not going to beat iconic bad guys like the Penguin, the Riddler, Two Face, and especially not the Joker.

I thought Fett escaped the pit in the canon,... Or was that in the old canon? See, this sucks.

That was EU that he escaped. I guess technically they could come up with some other way he escaped the Saarlac but as far as we know now he is dead per the movies.

If I'm not mistaken, he is still being digested, right?

I mean... who knows at this point. It happened a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. Haha. I gonna go with "He gone" until Jj says otherwise.

I don't care what canon says, Fett is alive. He'd blast his way out of the Sarlaac if he had to.

It does suck but it's not that hard, if it was in the movies it really happened. Otherwise no. Yeah there's a few books and the clone wars, but those mostly deal with prequel stuff that nobody cares about because who cares about what happened to fucking Kessel or whatever before any characters we care about were born?

I agree it makes no sense that the bro with the jetpack would die by falling into a shallow pit that very slowly eats you

Further I am pissed that he gets killed in that manner anyway. He totally deserved to go out better than a blind Han hitting his jet pack with a stick causing him to quick burst propell uncontrollably into biggest most obvious hazard in the entire desert.

The guy who Vader admonished goes out like that. Gtfo

You said it , George Lucas. George's excuse for why Fett went out in such a lame way was that he didn't think people would like him.

If that's not the most damning evidence of the fact that George Lucas was an idiot who lucked his way into success I don't know what is

I like how there's a contemporary canon timeline, and there's also a Legends/older canon timeline. Shit is confusing, like the Legend of Zelda timeline.

The Official Zelda Timeline, Now With Added Detail

There's a legend of Zelda canon? Used to ducking love that shit when I was younger, then the games just really went down hill with twighlight princess and I stopped. But man I used to get lost in Ocarina, Windwaker, and imo one of the top 5 games ever created "a link to the past"

Ok, now with all this Boba Fett talk, that guy was a bum. Just a cool suit that accomplished nothing in the movies. Seriously for a guy that warrants a direct summoning from Vader and seems to have his respect, he is a serious letdown. Mr Man of few Words gunslinger that doesn't even do the job he was assigned, it was Vader who forced Lando to betray Han. Also gets the corniest death of the entire saga, with the exception of any stormtrooper killed by an ewok.

Also don't give me "canon" I'm no expert on it but a lot of what I do know is pretty corny, like Vader losing a duel and getting captured shortly into the civil war.

As someone who has only seen the movies, this is an intimidatingly long list. I did enjoy the movies, but I don't know if I ever see myself getting that deep into the canon - I won't mind if there are some small fan-service details in the upcoming films that nod toward the non-film canon stuff, but I hope that they don't make it necessary to know all that stuff to really get what is going on in the films.

Oh you know Disney is likely to plant stuff in the trilogy for stand-alone, "anthology" films.

Same. A Link to the Past isn't always favorably compared against the other titles, but it was one of my favorites too. Windwaker, on the other hand....75% of that game was ducking sailing. I wasn't really crazy about the cartoony artwork either.

Cool story here....

My buddy in Virginia was able to buy out a 66 seat theater for the 12/17 7pm showing. Long story short, there are 55 of us and therefore I am gonna go see it on opening night with a bunch of my buds, no kids, no throngs, and no nonsense.
