There are a number of you seeing opportunism in pulling for Michigan in this weekend's contest in East Lansing. I find this appalling, but to each their own. Since it is a bye week and there is not much fresh news coming out of South Bend, I suggest reading about the history between the two schools. The anti-Catholic hijinks of Fielding Yost and Fritz Crisler are well known around here. Michigan's history of undermining its competition goes back another half-century, however. After their failure to smother the state's fledgling agricultural college in the cradle, the University of Michigan spent the next century attempting to subvert its growth.

The potential for a short term gain for our team does not outweigh the importance of the continued decline of Michigan football, in my opinion. They are overdue a long period of reckoning. May the Spartans continue to drive their heel into the neck of Ann Arbor.
P.S. Did you know that the original name of the University of Michigan was the Catholepistemiad? Seriously. What a comical neologism to express the elitism whence it came.
