If someone was playing a game in which I wasn't participating, I'd find it difficult to feel I'd been "taken to the woodshed" no matter how well that guy was doing. Lemming shows remarkable dull-wittedness in these remarks.
I think Lemming makes some good points, but I also think he is jumping the gun (as some on this board are prone to do, also). If you look at last year's class and see how much things changed in the month leading up to NSD, you see the absurdity of getting bent out of shape about a class in July. I see what ND has already committed as being a solid foundation that addresses some needs, but the relative success or failure of this recruiting cycle won't be known for months.
A lot will depend on what we end up with from the RB's and DL's we are involved with now, along with our ability to hold onto the guys we already have in the fold. If you believe in this staff's ability to recruit and you believe the reports that have us in pretty good shape with some of the elite guys we are chasing, then you can't be worried about our class just because Michigan has a ton of commitments. If our class shapes up the way it looks like it could, the quality of our class could be a lot better than Michigan's by NSD.
Lemming makes a good point about what we have done in Ohio in the aftermath of the OSU thing, but Michigan is only recruiting that part of the country and we are recruiting from coast to coast. Plus, the final chapter has not been written on the recruits from the midwest. If we end up with James, Mahone, Schutt, and possibly Odenigbo, then the idea that we struggled in the midwest will seem pretty silly. Maybe that won't happen, but ND will find another 7-10 players and the makeup of that group will determine whether this will be a decent class or a great one.
BTW Maxprep and Tom Lemming are a joke...He doesn't even have Tracey Howard in the top 100.MaxPreps - National Football Signing Day | College Football Recruiting Rankings

I saw some of you are updating scout.com's ratings of our players... Since we have an on-going thread about Michigan's class, I was wondering if their players made any jumps/falls?
+ (55%), 1 5
(5%)
+ (58%), 2 5
(17%)
+ and 3 5
... unequivocally better. Again, wake me up if they go on a tear to finish out this class... until then this is 10 to 15 range class when you look at where teams from 2011 ranked.Michigan: 20 players, 11 4+ (55%), 1 5
(5%)
Notre Dame: 12 players, 7 4+ (58%), 2 5
(17%)
If we both finished with 20 players, ours would have 12 4+ and 3 5
... unequivocally better. Again, wake me up if they go on a tear to finish out this class... until then this is 10 to 15 range class when you look at where teams from 2011 ranked.
I meant more individualy. For instance, I read something about Richardson being overrated as a DB and I was wondering if that was expressed in scout.com's new ratings.
Why are people always asking other people to do stuff for them that they can easily do for themselves?
Is your google broken?
Here he is listed as the #10 CB by scout (dated 2-15-11).
Here he is listed as the #13 CB. So at some point during the last 5 months he was moved down the rankings, but not all that far.
Michigan may lose a few after we smoke them by 3 touchdowns.......
Richardson went from CB #10 to CB #13
scout has us with two 5 *'s? guessing Darby and shep by rivals rankings ( im sure ill be corrected if im wrong). And the way tay is killing these 7 on 7's i wouldnt be surprised if he rockets up 30-40 spots from the early 100's in the top 150 and gets a 5th star. Seen that he might project even higher at safety than at WR.

so he's right on the cusp. I don't think earns a fifth star nor do I think one would be appropriate... he's a solid 4
player and we should be damn happy with that.Greenberry is currently #52 overall on the new Scout 300. Also the #6 WR.
The top 50 in Scout's rankings are automatically 5* recruits, which is I think is hugely flawed. Greenberry is just two spots away from a 5* ranking.
