With Harbaugh, their current roster, and their 2015 schedule..... what will we be saying about Michigan Football at this time next year? (Besides the obvious Michigan Sucks)
Here is their schedule:
Sept 3 @ Utah
Sept 12 Oregan State
Sept 19 UNLV
Sept 26 BYU
Oct 3 @ Maryland
Oct 10 Northwestern
Oct 17 Michigan St
Oct 24 OPEN
Oct 31 @Minnesota
Nov 7 Rutgers
Nov 14 @ Indiana
Nov 21 @ Penn State
Nov 28 Ohio State
Just off the top of my head, without looking at who everyone is losing/bringing back, I still see UM losing at least 4 games.
call me a homer, but I think this team on paper if you were to believe the recruit rankings, has pretty much everything it needs to go 8-4 with that schedule except QB.
They have 13 OL's from 2012, 2013, and 2014 classes combined. 10 of them were 5*'s or 4*'s with nice offer lists on 247Composite. Now could it be that all 10 of those were busts? Maybe. I think the more likely scenario is that they weren't developed and had shitty coaching. Call me a homer if you want. But I do believe in the recruit rankings. Believe they matter to a degree. I think it's more likely that there was shitty coaching and player development over the past 4 years under Hoke than it was that all 10 of those 5*/4* OL's suck ass.
5* RB Derrick Green was actually playing pretty well the first 5 games of the season until he broke his collar bone. 5* RB Ty Isaac had to sit out due to transfer. Drake Johnson came on at the end of the year before tearing his ACL unfortunately, but he looked like a better back than Hayes or Smith to me.
Their best skill talents from the 2014 class didn't even play last year, Drake Harris and Jabrill Peppers both redshirted. Drake never played in a single game and Peppers only played in the first two games.
Team is very soft and poorly coached. Two things that I think Harbaugh will change and change very quickly.
There is enough coming back on a defense that wasn't that bad considering the complete lack of help it got from the offense and special teams.
The huge glaring hole I see is at QB. Shane Morris isn't the answer, clearly, and Speight will be a RS Frosh and Malzone a true frosh.
