He would be a DUMB ass not to go to UM. How could he not go to what made him a coaching legend, within the college way..

If I were in his shoes, what would I do? JH will be our night stalker in the NE when he starts the onslaught. Let's hope I'm completely off.

and on the same note, The Harbaugh Brothers inc. are just confident enough to want a Super Bowl and NC in the same year.. They would pair off better within this world and the media frenzy would be bank.

Sucks for Michigan then. Greg Roman is horrible. He single handedly caused Kapernick to regress every year. NFL players weren't able to pick up his offense, I doubt a college player will be able to.

^This. Roman is a shitty OC.

Greg Roman very well may suck, but I don't think he single handedly caused Kapernick to regress.

Kapernick was all smoke and mirrors IMO. Same thing that happened to RG3 and VY is happening to him. NFL DC's didn't have film of him at first, didn't know how to defend him, he was able to just run wild, use his athleticism. Once they've had a year plus of film on him and kind of "figured him out" it's been downhill since.

The NFL will ALWAYS come down to performing in the pocket. Reading a defense pre and post snap, making adjustments and delivering the football from the pocket on time. If you can't do that consistently, in the long run you will fail in the NFL.

Colin Kapernick cannot read a defense and he is horribly inaccurate and I honestly don't think those are things that can be fixed.

Looking forward to buying student season tickets and selling them for a profit. $$$$

Didn't even bother this year because it was a shit schedule and I knew it'd be a shit team. Would have lost a lot of money.

I think that its freaking hilarious that small time blogs got the scoop on all these "NFL Insiders". The deal was done on December 22nd, yet reports continued to flow about other teams swooping in etc.

Agree 100%.

Goes to show you how lazy and arrogant the ESPN/NFL blowhards truly are.

It's all about sources. Good sources. The mgoblogs and UM Rivals sites had the real sources in this situation- close friends and family of Jim Harbaugh. Pretty sure that Jim's father Jack was the source for the UM Rivals. They've basically alluded to that without coming out and saying it.

The NFL blowhards sources were...NFL execs and NFL agents, all of whom were just going off the arrogant assumption that there was no way in hell a successful NFL coach would go to college. These "reporters" are just mouth pieces for NFL agents and NFL execs, they go on TV and say whatever they tell them to.

With Harbaugh, their current roster, and their 2015 schedule..... what will we be saying about Michigan Football at this time next year? (Besides the obvious Michigan Sucks)

Here is their schedule:

Sept 3 @ Utah
Sept 12 Oregan State
Sept 19 UNLV
Sept 26 BYU
Oct 3 @ Maryland
Oct 10 Northwestern
Oct 17 Michigan St
Oct 24 OPEN
Oct 31 @Minnesota
Nov 7 Rutgers
Nov 14 @ Indiana
Nov 21 @ Penn State
Nov 28 Ohio State

Just off the top of my head, without looking at who everyone is losing/bringing back, I still see UM losing at least 4 games.

call me a homer, but I think this team on paper if you were to believe the recruit rankings, has pretty much everything it needs to go 8-4 with that schedule except QB.

They have 13 OL's from 2012, 2013, and 2014 classes combined. 10 of them were 5*'s or 4*'s with nice offer lists on 247Composite. Now could it be that all 10 of those were busts? Maybe. I think the more likely scenario is that they weren't developed and had shitty coaching. Call me a homer if you want. But I do believe in the recruit rankings. Believe they matter to a degree. I think it's more likely that there was shitty coaching and player development over the past 4 years under Hoke than it was that all 10 of those 5*/4* OL's suck ass.

5* RB Derrick Green was actually playing pretty well the first 5 games of the season until he broke his collar bone. 5* RB Ty Isaac had to sit out due to transfer. Drake Johnson came on at the end of the year before tearing his ACL unfortunately, but he looked like a better back than Hayes or Smith to me.

Their best skill talents from the 2014 class didn't even play last year, Drake Harris and Jabrill Peppers both redshirted. Drake never played in a single game and Peppers only played in the first two games.

Team is very soft and poorly coached. Two things that I think Harbaugh will change and change very quickly.

There is enough coming back on a defense that wasn't that bad considering the complete lack of help it got from the offense and special teams.

The huge glaring hole I see is at QB. Shane Morris isn't the answer, clearly, and Speight will be a RS Frosh and Malzone a true frosh.

Losing 4 with that schedule would mean they still stink, IMO.

I don't see them coming out of the gates and winning at Utah... and I cannot envision this team beating MSU, or OSU (even if the games are in Ann Arbor). BYU seems to be bi-polar so they are hit or miss. I could see them being 0-2 to start the year losing to the Beavers.... and maybe even to the Gophers....

2015 will be a different year but I am hoping they lose at least 4, 5 would be better, anything more would be cherries.

Even as awful as Michigan was this year, that schedule isn't that bad imo. Certainly Ohio State and Michigan St. will be tough games and likely losses. Utah will play tough, and it will be out west, but it could be winnable. BYU has fallen a bit and just lost to frickin' Memphis in their bowl, should be winnable at home. Michigan squeaked past Ped State this year, I see no reason Harbaugh couldn't beat them in Not-So-Happy Valley. Even though they beat us at the end with our depleted defense, Northwestern is very winnable for scUM, especially at home. If Michigan lost to Rutgers and Maryland again next year, I'd laugh, shouldn't happen under Harbaugh if he's that good. The only other "okay" team on that schedule is Minnesota. Indiana, UNLV, and Oregon State aren't even worth mentioning.

So, likely losses at Ohio State and Michigan State, probably loss to a Utah and/or a Minnie, but the rest of the games should and will be very winnable given the fact Hoke had some decent classes in the past. I would expect 9-3 regular season, or 8-4 at the worst...7-5 would not be a good start for him given this schedule. He'll have the benefit of bringing a new system to Ann Arbor, which should give scUM an early advantage as teams will have limited film to work with. Harbaugh will also have the benefit of some decent classes to fall back on from Hoke's 2012 and 2013 recruiting classes that will be upperclassmen next year. His problem may come in a year or two when his upperclassmen will come from an a so-so 2014 class and the shit show they currently are showing for 2015. I expect Harbaugh will pick up quite a few between now and February, but it may not be enough to set him up for the 2016 season, I'd expect a drop off to occur there when he he'll have to do some rebuilding and play some underclassmen.

Still hitting the refresh button hoping to read that Michigan gets jilted at the altar and Harbaugh took the red-eye back to the Bay Area to take the Oakland job.

My God. I know one guy can't speak for a whole messageboard/fanbase, but a poster on MGoBlog says the only thing bad about 2015 is not being able to see Kelly's head turn purple and explode in the BigHouse.

Yes you guys hired a great coach. No you still won't be good next year, despite being 8-4 (at a minimum). Also another guy posted how dropping UM is going to hurt ND and aligning with the ACC. I said scheduling Texas and OhioSt we'd be fine.

Their arrogance knows no bounds and this hire has just stoked the flames. Be excited for the hire, but don't think your shit is fixed over night.

thought you'd guys like this, Harbaugh has apparently stolen USC's OL coach Tim Drevno.

USC fans seem pretty salty about it.

Gonna be the new O coordinator with Harbaugh calling the plays

yup, title will OC/OL coach. Sounds like DJ Durkin will be the DC and that Mattison might stay on as LB coach/assistant head coach.

Rumor is that Vince Marrow, Kentucky TE coach and recruiting co-ordinator will be interviewing for the same position in a few days.

One more thing to look at, RB coach. Doug Marrone just opted out of his Buffalo Bills contract, Tyrone Wheatley is on that staff. Rumors on the UM sites are that Wheatley will be coming back to Michigan to coach RB's.

Apparently having 3 losing seasons in the last 7 has not humbled the majority of the fanbase. Michigan is at least three years away from even contending for a Big Ten title. Next year they will be lucky to be 8-4. But because they are Michigan it will be an easy ride from now on. Give me a break.

Can someone explain the dead period to me? I thought it prevented coaches from reaching out to recruits not committed to your school and/or having signed an aid agreement. Is it just for the class of seniors? I have been reading that several juniors and a couple seniors have said "Coach Harbaugh called me...." Isn't that a fairly serious violation? Is there some loophole for a newly appointed coach or something?
