here's my issue with Dantonio -- check out this quote from Saturday and it's indicative of his style:

"The little brother stuff, all the disrespect, it doesn't have to go in that direction," said Dantonio, who brought up the whole stake business all on his own. "Throwing the stake down in our backyard here, coming out there like they're all that ... It got shoved up ... up ... shoved into them in the last minute."

He's bringing up something that happened 7 YEARS AGO; he's talking about taking that stake and (figurative) shoving it back up their ass. He is the MASTER of pettiness and any little thing offends him to no end. He's been doing this for years against OSU and UM. Coach, it's a rivalry, deal with it. But he doesn't seem to let it go. 7 years ago, and he's the one that brought it up.

Great article in mlive today, which I think nails the whole issue:

Column: Pettiness in Michigan-Michigan State rivalry a bad look for both sides, but worse for Wolverines | MLive.com

Except Dantonio said in his post game presser that the stake thing didn't come from the coach, it came from the program.

I'm not sure if I buy into MSU being petty. The amount of downtalk M fans STILL do is amazing. Every day, everywhere in the state, blue people are still talking crap. They belittle not only the football team, but the university as well. Dantonio was just saying that's stupidly arrogant of a program that hasn't won an outright national title in the modern era and really frustrating to deal with.

mildly interesting info: here is where the scUM private jet has been lately. (Jackson TN, Monterey CA, Pittsburgh, Brunswick GA).

doing some coach shopping i wonder?

There is nothing in Brunswick GA but high end sea island communities. Someone is relaxing.

Come now Cack, the jet isn't going to meet a potential coach in his city. They'll meet someplace discrete to minimize the potential for an information leak.

Yeah...I guess so. LOL. I'd rather think they were escaping that shitstorm in Ann Arbor.

Really? He is the leader of a program that has gotten little respect from UM. UM issue is they keep talking all this shit and doing stupid stuff like driving stakes into an opponents turf who clearly over matches them. Talking about the team from down south. Talking this Ohio bull shit. They are too busy perpetuating their past glories to care about the crater their program is today. They are on the precipice of being cratered for years if they don't hire the right guy this time around. And not many up and comers want to take a totally rebuilding effort over at any school, let alone a BIG school with no oversigning and better academic standards.

Sorry, fuck Michigan. They deserve all the shit they get and more for years of Karma built on 1 National Championship in 70 years.

You mean zero consensus national championships in 70 years, right? We were a program living in the past. They're a program stuck in a time when it was ok to refer to WWI as "The Great War." Minnesota has won NCs more recently than Michigan. Bo Schembechler won only 20% of the Rose Bowls he coached over his career. I'm hoping they pick a coach that takes them down a road of permasuck.

Wow Brandon is a class act.

Also, that's some detailed detective work. I hope that level of investigation would never be needed around here.
