Since Michigan is planning to spend a week at IMG in Florida, perhaps Notre Dame should look into the possibility of setting up a similar arrangement at Bishop Gorman in Nevada. Just a thought.

Seems like a recipe for trouble. Easy access to booze, gambling, hookers....couple that with the fact Britney Spears is currently performing in Vegas and rumored to be looking for a "hot nerd" recently in the news....we've got a whole team of hot nerds, or so I've been told. There's a whole lot of potential for mischief there!

I'm pretty sure that I would take Harbaughs football advice over some hack reporter. And the nonsense about luring him back to New Mexico? Please. HI CAN I GO BACK TO NEW MEXICO AND PLAY FOR BOB DAVIE!?!

haha yeah and run a triple option offense despite being like a 7 foot tall pro style QB :D

No inside info? Don't write such a stupid article. You would think Harbaugh discussed it with him first.

way I see it if he is really upset about it he would have transferred, which he still may do, but until then who cares.

I will say the odds of getting on the field are much better for TE's on Harby's roster than at QB.

I don't know, he carries like 15 TE's on his rosters. Even if 5 of them get used....

I don't see anything wrong with the Opinion piece, though I would separate "the bad business of college football" based on coaching behavior. This is how Harbaugh operates. Buyer beware.

Reading the articles, Jim and Jay Harbaugh came in late after hired, threw the football around, impressed the family with his competitiveness and intensity, focused on Gentry as his QB of the future after a redshirt year, and got him to decommit from Texas. The word "meritocracy" was even used. And "this is the man that developed Andrew Luck".

Check out an article, "Eldorado's Gentry feels wanted by Harbaugh, Michigan". The Gentrys were impressed when Harbaugh told them that he had checked out 62 QBs before deciding Gentry was his number one target in the Class of 2015. On NSD, Gentry was the fourth QB on their roster including another '15 commit, Alex Malzone, who committed under Hoke.

As their primary QB target, Texas had to scramble for a QB commit, They then got visits from other QBs and ended up taking Kai Locksley, also a project. Gentry would have been their third string QB at least this year. A new OC who ran a spread was a consideration for Gentry.

Harbaugh then got transfers in from John O'Korn, who would sit out a year, and Jake Rudick, a grad transfer in Feb after NSD and in April respectively. Sound familiar? Commits, then over-recruiting?

So, Gentry starts over with nine TEs, including the #2, #9, #34 (an early admission) this year and the #9 from '15, who has had a redshirt year at the position.

Harbaugh is three scholarships over eighty-five. Gentry, from his quotes, loves Michigan and is willing to compete. Is this Harbaugh's way of pressuring Gentry to leave? Sound like the process with any players who transferred last year?

Alabama was recruiting Gentry. Gentry even had a call set up with Saban, which he canceled, after visiting with Harbaugh. With a move to TE at Alabama, this year Gentry would be their third string TE, competing for second string, and have the experience of winning a NC.

Any father would be upset. Whether Gentry stays and is a great tight end or gets Harbaughed is to be determined. You just wonder what Harbaugh has said about PT to his two highly-ranked recruits and his early admission TE this year.

You get treated differently elsewhere. Harbaugh is a true Skunkbear.

there were recruiting analysts who called Gentry being moved to TE from day one. I know Barton Simmons from 247 was never sold on Gentry playing QB after seeing him up close and personal.

I'll trust Harbaugh's QB evaluations. IF he saw the kid for an entire year in practices and knew he just didn't have it at QB, then I'll roll with that. It's not exactly like Michigan is flush with QB talent RIGHT now. John O'Korn is probably the starter for the next 2 years, but he's a transfer, that's all the eligibility he has left. Shane Morris sucks, he's never going to see the field, I'll be surprised he doesn't transfer to some DII school where he'll be able to play right away. IF Gentry was the real deal at QB, he obviously wouldn't be getting switched this quickly. IF/WHEN Morris transfers, Wilton Speight- who also sucks, and Alex Malzone would be the only other QBs on the roster. Peters will be a true frosh, he's gonna get redshirted. No reason to move Genrty because pf a logjam, he probably just wasn't standing out. Which isn't a good sign when he was in such a mediocre field and below the pack.

He was a much better athlete in high school than he was pure pocket passing QB. Gentry has some wheels on him even though he's 6'7, 240.

Doesn't Michigan offer four year scholarships? So Gentry and Morris can remain there until they graduate, right?? Unless, of course, they are told they will have to switch to medical scholarships or that they will never see the field and need to transfer?

The reason to move Gentry is who's following him. Peters and now McCaffery. Redshirted his first year, and, at TE, a logjam his second year as he learns the position.

After evaluation, H did think Gentry was the best of 63 QB recruits he reviewed - or that's what he told the Gentrys. For them, it's probably a V-8 moment - he could have gone to Alabama or Texas!

Good thing Michigan doesn't overrecruit and drive out players before they get their Michigan degree. Michigan fans would not stand for that.

well I think the guy has a point. Butch should probably just stfu right about now and let things play out, try and stay out of the public eye. I have a feeling it won't end well for Butch. He's a mediocre coach to begin with, and now he's being looked into for allegedly trying to help cover up a rape and for calling a UTjr player a traitor for helping a girl who claims she was raped. Not very good things to be accused of. Like I said, just accusations, but there's a lot of smoke around UTjr right now, that whole thing could be turning into a dumpster fire fast, and where there's smoke there's usually fire.

Really?

Michigan football covered up rape allegations and threats of violence, then lied about it - people need to be fired immediately
