Cocaine Mitch really made his money getting this shit done.
Wonder how he celebrates after the vote tomorrow lol...
Also wonder if the dems have anything left up their sleeves.

Word is Cocaine Mitch will shotgun PBRs with the remainder of the protestors that were outside his house this morning, then snort a line off the roof of the limo driving him to the capital

In addition to thousands of the law professors, lawyers, a reconsideration by the ABA of his suitability and recommendation to suspend the confirmation vote, victims and medical associations and students, Yale Law School dean, professors, alumni and students, in addition to the editorial of the Jesuits' mag religious organizations through the National Council of Churches have also called for Kavanaugh to be withdrawn or to vote against confirmation.

Since this has not been posted,

NCC Calls for Withdrawal of Kavanaugh Nomination
October 3, 2018

The National Council of Churches (NCC) calls for the withdrawal of the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court of the United States. We believe he has disqualified himself from this lifetime appointment and must step aside immediately.

We note several reasons. During his appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Judge Kavanaugh exhibited extreme partisan bias and disrespect towards certain members of the committee and thereby demonstrated that he possesses neither the temperament nor the character essential for a member of the highest court in our nation. We are deeply disturbed by the multiple allegations of sexual assault and call for a full and unhindered investigation of these accusations.

In addition, his testimony before the Judiciary Committee included several misstatements and some outright falsehoods, some in relation to accusations of sexual misconduct. All citizens must be expected to speak truthfully when under oath, however, this is especially true for anyone who seeks a seat on the Supreme Court.

Moreover, Judge Kavanaugh’s extensive judicial and political record is troubling with regard to issues of voting rights, racial and gender justice, health care, the rights of people with disabilities, and environmental protections. This leads us to believe that he cannot be an impartial justice in cases that are sure to come before him at the Court.

Therefore the National Council of Churches calls for the withdrawal of Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court immediately.

Of course, this is a partisan witchhunt, a disgrace and all those orgs and signatories should be ashamed of themselves.

Three of his former clerks wrote the Senate Judiciary Committee opposing his confirmation and alumni of Georgetown Prep have also called for his withdrawl.

You do know that the NCC is very, very political. Their "The Social Creed" is more political than religious. They are considered the religious arm of the Dem party.

Try better Legacy.

on the NCC....

By the 1990s, the NCC was widely seen as a religious arm of the Democratic Party, just as the religious right was little more than the Republican Party at prayer.

Many congressmen had long ago realized that the liberal NCC was not speaking for churchgoers in their districts, and the NCC’s political influence plummeted. Its constituent denominations and communions — mainline, black Protestant, historic peace traditions, and Eastern Orthodox –- faced their own institutional and financial challenges and, of course, unprecedented membership decline.

They were fundamentally opposed to him on their perceived option of his future decisions on all those issues YET they waited until October 3rd to voice it? You nailed with the italics spin. "What is said in jest is often meant in truth."

It a shame not one of them could find a single person that was at Ford's alleged party or that helped her flee and got her home.

I usually don't comment on others' statements. Everyone has their own opinions though they may partisan knee-jerk reactions dismissing any substantive content or important issues, prior standards for judicial nominees, personalizing attacks or worthy of the worst of drunken frat party behavior. To the extent that such Trumpian lack of respect for others and politicization of every issue has permeated our society is the measure of the state of moral standards and the abandonment of personal limitations we experience today. Intelligent discussion is always appreciated.

There are many aspects that are required to have an intelligent discussion. I think some would include:

a.) One is honest and open to the discussion at hand
b.) One presents their ideas in a respectable way, whether they be there own opinion or as a matter of fact.

Take your first post. Did you actually read the letter they sent to the Judiciary Committee? They actually were on the original list supporting him with positive experiences they had, but wanted to stress that they were troubled by the allegations, and that an investigation was warranted.

They in no way opposed the confirmation.

Those type of errors are what hamper "intelligent discussion".

Manchin waited until Collins made her decision, then pilled on.

If she would have said 'No', he would have followed suit with a 'No'.

He couldn't have went back to WV if he was the deciding vote and it was 'No' (I think I saw WV supported confirmation pretty resoundingly, and his lead has shrunk in the race).

He couldn't have lived with the D's if he was the deciding 'Yes' vote that got him confirmed.

It's reported by multiple sources that Manchin called the WH early this morning to say he was a yes, well before Collins made her speech. Sure, he might have known what she was going to do, but it's equally plausible that he said, "my lead is dropping, and I need to cover my own ass and get re-elected." I can see it either way.

Hadn't heard that, but if that's the case, I'm sure he had to know.

When Murkowski was a 'No', he had to know ahead of time if he put in that call.

My boss is from West Virginia - they freaking love that guy (even as red as WV is).

Or, noble thought, maybe he just did what his constituents would have wanted given the situation.

yup, it's this kind of stuff, and linking obvious lib sources, or articles that try to pass off obvious left/lib crap as the voice of the people... Academia is left. NCC is left. The ABA is left. No one is shocked when they take a stance in unison with the Dem party. These are not "substantive" as he suggested. And calling out the Trumpsters for "politicizing" everything.... I won't act like they don't, but to suggest the dems aren't full tilt is hilarious.

"Intelligent discussion is always appreciated" unless you disagree, or call BS.

The bolded, plus self preservation.

I'm disappointed in Donnelly. Thought he would have done the same. He's likely doomed himself now.

Saw this mentioned as a possibility yesterday as a solution to Daines not having to come back and vote and miss part of his daughters wedding/reception. It's been a while that someone in the senate has done this, but it has some precedents.

Murkowski is still a no, but will be voting "present" so that the margin will still be the same had Daines actually voted.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/murkowski-ill-be-voting-present-for-kavanaugh-confirmation-vote

In a speech on the Senate floor Friday night, Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) announced that she would be voting “present” at Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation vote Saturday as a “courtesy” to Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT), who will be at his daughter's wedding. Murkowski said that vote would ensure the margin ends up the same as if Daines had been there

Murkowski: "I will be a no today and a no tomorrow"
Murkowski repeated that she will be a "no today and a no tomorrow," but said her vote will be recorded as "present" as a courtesy to cancel out the absence of GOP Sen. Steve Daines. Daines is flying to Montana to attend his daughter's wedding.

"This will not change the outcome," Murkowski said.

Pelosie compared Kav to Kim Jong Un and Putin. Sen John Kennedy said "Billy goat brain, mocking bird mouth" lol....

Went on to say that if they founding fathers envisioned this, they would have stuck with King George III

So many repubs on fire.

And on the CNN front page, top center..... "Melania Trump's hate evokes colonialist comparison"

And MSNBC triples down and has exclusive "texts" showing Kav coverup. Claims Kav tampered. They never did report Ford's beach friend pressuring he HS friend...
